Early Life & Career Non-Sequitor

The first paragraph of the Early Life & Career section of this biography says he graduated from Governors State University, founded in 1969 - so he could not have graduated until at least 1973. Then, he supposedly became an art student at NYU before training for a career as an actor. Thus, unless he was using Doctor Who's TARDIS travel back and forth in time, he apparently did not finish his training as an actor until sometime in the late 1970's.

But we then read in the next paragraph that he made his theatrical debut in Carmen Jones in 1944.

It doesn't make sense that he would spent 30 years as a professional actor and singer, and then go to school to learn how to do it. I suspect that whoever wrote the first paragraph has gotten the William Marshall who is the subject of this article confused with someone else named William Marshall.

Citation Details

Well, hello whoever reads this. First, fan of William Marshall but also a Wikipedia editor who likes to cleanup references. For a short article, there are some nice references here. But sadly, some of the references—like for Jet and eXo—don’t have much detail. If anyone can provide more details such as what issue, page, author, etc… those references are from that would be helpful to flesh things out. --
