Rahne as "rain"

Can anybody tell me why the article gives the pronounciation of Rahne Sinclair's name as "rain"? I've only ever heard it prounounced "ronnie". I'll change this if no one can find some supportive evidence to back it up. -unsigned by Gnosis1185

I know that I have heard of at least one issue where the pronunciation is explicitly stated. Outside of that, the puns in the issue titles like "Rahne of Terra." There's a comment on the RAMX FAQ page stating that it's canonical, quoting "By the way, Rahne is pronounced like "Rain," as in the liquid from the sky. This is given in a number of canonical sources. In X-Factor #87, her dreams are Rahne's World, Rain Man and Rahne and Stimpy. The puns don't work otherwise." I'll keep poking around for a direct quote from the books. -Fuzzy 04:40, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Off the top of my head I belive it's mentioned in the letters section of one of the first new mutants comics, as well I remember an X-Factor comics (the goverment team version) where Havoc asks Polaris "What do you think of Rahne?" "It makes the flowers grow." "No, I mean Wolfsbane." And, lastly, in one of the first NM comments (one of the first 8) where they are attacked by "Natives" and taken to Nova Roma Wolfsbane tells their captive "My name is Rahne." "Rain?" "You got it."-Lich —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.235.191.15 (talk) 19:34, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding the pronunciation of Rahne's name, it was brought up a few times in the original New Mutants series. First, there was the issue (#2?), in which she was conversing with local high school students their own age at a mall. She introduced herself as "Rahne," and the girl replying to her complimented her on her name "Rain," saying that it was like Moon Unit Zappa.
Also, in the issue where they first met Amara (who became the New Mutant Magma) and Amara was feigning ignorance of English. Rahne spoke her name to Amara, and Amara replied, "Rain?" to which Rahne said, "Aye, you got it." This would apparently confirm that that's how her name is said.
Finally, when asked how it was pronounced in a letters column in the New Mutants, the editors confirmed it's pronounced "Rain, as in what falls from the sky." 2603:9000:8D8A:D300:E0EE:C004:2C23:BFBF (talk) 18:26, 27 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Shadow King

Is the reference about being manipulated by the Shadow King accurate? She wasn't at Muir Island during the Shadow King's activities there. --JamesAM 01:49, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would imagine it's because Rahne can change into a full wolf at will. Lots42 01:45, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Powers

What's with the rampant speculation in the Powers section? Rahne has been working on fine-tuning her wolf form for years. It should come as no surprise she can employ wolf senses while human. Lots42 01:14, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The phrase "except for the fact that her hair never grows more than a few centimeters long" (diff) was recently removed from the article. This was the case at her origin (she complains of it during the original New Mutants Nova Roma arc), but it was relaxed somewhat during New Mutants, then ignored altogether recently. I guess it's not really notable.

Rahne had a healing factor in New Mutants, although it may have been an excuse for her rapid recuperation after being hit in the head frequently. Flatscan (talk) 18:24, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I remember an early New Mutants story in which Rahne (under some sort of influence) morphed into a beautiful adult woman with long hair - is this the only instance of her shapeshifting power being extended? Robina Fox (talk) 22:01, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dunno. But in that instance, her biology was under, for lack of a better word, attack by the influence of Dagger's powers, which tend to bring forth vaguely-defined goodness. Lots42 (talk) 05:17, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Current Info Box Picture

I don't care for it. The background is too cluttered, the art in general just stinks and while I'm all for seeing more of Rahne (I gots the fanboy crush like you wouldn't believe) the picture just makes it look like she cannot dress herself. Lots42 19:24, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rahne Pic

We have HONESTLY got to get another picture for Rahne. This is silly, having a caption to point her out for crying out loud. Lots42 (talk) 03:52, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dogs Portal?

For one, it seems a little odd to have a shapechanger in the "Dogs" category. Secondly, wasn't the point made over and over again that she "is nae a doggie", but is rather a wolf? I'm going to remove it and see if it provokes outcry. -Fuzzy (talk) 12:31, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, despite what she used to say, she does transform into a canine at times. Lots42 (talk) 21:10, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Increased senses? I thought she already had the abillity to sniff out folks a mile away and underground. Canines have powerful noses. Lots42 (talk) 11:35, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Shatterstar

The bit with Shatterstar and the church made very little sense. Lots42 (talk) 17:34, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Changed something.

In the "New Mutants" section of her history it was stated "Rahne was the youngest of the new mutants". Actually, Rahne was the second youngest. I can't remember exactly which comic it was in, perhaps New Mutants #1, but there is a computer screen listing everyones name and age. daCosta is listed as 13, and Rahne as 14. While it often seemed like she is the youngest, to the point it might have been retconed, I never saw anything actually saying this was the case. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.35.163.210 (talk) 00:00, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Volume & Issue Needed

"While a member of the second X-Factor team, Rahne wears a special uniform made of 'unstable molecules' that converts to a collar in her non-human forms.[volume & issue needed]"

I don't have the original series (or any series), but the only reference I know of to this fact is in "The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe," in Wolfsbane's entry, under Paraphernalia, it explains that she wears a uniform (and civilian clothing) of unstable molecules, which converts to a very dense, very narrow collar when she's in lupine form. If anyone has access to this series, that would solve the volume and issue needed problem. 2603:9000:8D8A:D300:E0EE:C004:2C23:BFBF (talk) 18:32, 27 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I just found it online. This is the entry from "The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe" volume 1, issue 12. However, we should note that this series was written when Wolfsbane was a member of the New Mutants, so, apparently, her unstable molecule clothing converted to a collar long before she became a member of X-Factor.
