Importance and significance

  • Zana was a popular and commercially succesful pop/rock band in a country of about 24 milion people (
    Federal Republic of Yugoslavia 1992-2003, then Serbia and Montenegro
    until today.
  • All their albums are on major labels: Jugoton from Zagreb, Croatia the biggest record company in former SFRY; PGP-RTB (the music production of the National radio and tv service of Serbia; Diskoton the largest company in then-Socialist Republic of Bosnia & Herzegovina based in Sarajevo etc.
  • Many of their albums are recorded abroad incl. foreign musicians.
  • They've cooperated with other prominent ex-Yugoslav and post-Yugoslav musicians such as
    Dragana Mirkovic
    and others.
