Edward Edinborough Chamberlain (5 July 1906 – 2 April 1993) was a New Zealand
plant pathologist
.
Biography
Born in
Royal Society of New Zealand in 1959,[4] and the following year he was awarded the society's Hector Medal, the highest award in New Zealand science.[5]
In
New Zealand Artillery in September 1940,[6] and embarked as a sergeant with the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force in mid-1941.[7] He saw four years active service in the Middle East and Italy and was commissioned while overseas.[1]
Chamberlain's engagement to Geraldine Baylis was announced a few days after he was drafted,[8] and the couple were married on 12 February 1941 at King's College chapel in Ōtāhuhu.[9] Geraldine was also a collector of plant specimens.[10]
He died on 2 April 1993 and was buried at Purewa Cemetery in Meadowbank, Auckland.[11]
