General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems

Hook eligibility:

  • Cited: Unknown
  • Interesting: Yes
  • Other problems: No - Regarding the 18 years, PFR has his GM tenure as (1951–1968). However, that possbily conflicts with the source that says he only initially split responsibilities with others while the title remained vacant.[3] The WP article text also makes the 18 years seem less certain: By 1953, Fogarty had become official general manager of the team. Perhaps something to the effect of "spanning two decades" might work.
QPQ: Done.

Overall: Consider paring the wounded part from "was wounded in World War II and taken as prisoner by the Nazis but managed to escape". Escaping seems the more notable part. —Bagumba (talk) 10:01, 13 March 2024 (UTC)

  • @Bagumba: Changed it to "who went on to manage an NFL franchise nearly two decades" – I think it'd be better to keep the other part; IMO it is more interesting that he not only managed to escape, but did it after being wounded. Thoughts? BeanieFan11 (talk) 20:49, 15 March 2024 (UTC)
@BeanieFan11: I see. Perhaps then it'd be slightly more emphasized as "was wounded in World War II and taken as prisoner by the Nazis in World War II but managed to escape while wounded"? I initially just thought being wounded as a soldier, while more courageous than me, might be thought of by some as being "common" in war. But escaping while wounded can add some intrigue.—Bagumba (talk) 02:05, 16 March 2024 (UTC)
@Bagumba: So: ALT1 ... that Francis Fogarty, who went on to manage an NFL franchise for nearly two decades, was taken as prisoner by the Nazis in World War II but managed to escape while wounded? BeanieFan11 (talk) 02:10, 16 March 2024 (UTC)
    ALT1 approved.—Bagumba (talk) 04:52, 16 March 2024 (UTC)
