Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety

  • ... that Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety oversees the development of new vaccines throughout clinical testing? ... It also monitors the development of new vaccines during clinical testing [1]
    • ALT1:... that ...? Source: "You are strongly encouraged to quote the source text supporting each hook" (and [link] the source, or cite it briefly without using citation templates)

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: Done.

Overall: Thank you for this very useful article. Points: (1) I think that any hook on this subject would currently be of great public interest, so it is probably best to keep it as simple and bland as possible, so as to avoid controversy. In that context ALT0 looks fine to me, so I suggest that you don't change it. (2) I have copyedited some awkward prose: a minor edit which should not affect this DYK review. However please check carefully that I have not changed the intended meaning. (3) There is just one issue: plagiarism. Please rephrase OR present as a quotation: "rigorously and transparently reviews the latest knowledge," and "in any capacity or in any forum". (4) The QPQ has been done. Thanks @Storye book:. Rephrased as suggested. Whispyhistory (talk) 16:57, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Thank you, Whispyhistory. Good to go. Storye book (talk) 17:23, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Hi, I came by to promote ALT0, but it doesn't accurately reflect the source. I changed the sentence in the article to: It also monitors the clinical testing of new vaccines and their use in immunization programs. Personally, I think the hook is pretty dull. A hook using that term vaccine hesitancy sounds like a better option. Yoninah (talk) 19:35, 21 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Thankyou @Yoninah: and @Storye book:... Added some additional information. Maybe a passer-by might have thoughts. How is ALT1? Whispyhistory (talk) 12:54, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
    • ALT1:... that
misinformation and vaccine hesitancy? ...COVID-19 vaccines are being developed at an unprecedented speed...GACVS...provide independent, authoritative, scientific advice to the World Health Organization (WHO) on vaccine safety issues of global or regional concern. In May 2020, the Committee focussed on COVID-19 and discussed potential safety issues that may arise with the new vaccines being developed and deployed under the emergency conditions...and... at a time when vaccine hesitancy and misinformation are growing challenges. • Good. Could someone please give it the green tick, then, please, because I'm not allowed to approve it myself, having written it out. Thanks. Storye book (talk) 20:11, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
  • @Storye book: "Writing it out" does not remove you from approving it. Adding new facts to a hook does. I'm replacing your tick and promoting it, because it's just a simple addition of a few words that also happen to be in the group's name. Yoninah (talk) 20:31, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
