Leedy Manufacturing Company

  • ... that the Leedy Manufacturing Company of Indianapolis, Indiana, was at one point the largest manufacturer of percussion instruments in the world? Source: Brennan, Matt (2020). Kick It: A Social History of the Drum Kit. Oxford University Press. ISBN 978-0-19-068388-7. pg. 115. "Leedy may not be a widely remembered drum company today, but for a time in the early twentieth century it was the largest drum manufacturer in the world."

    • Comment: I created this article today. The Leedy Drum Company was the largest percussion instrument manufacturer in the world from the early 1900s until 1929 when it was purchased by C. G. Conn (which I can corroborate with a bevy of other sources). I think being the largest anything is pretty suitable for DYK, but this is also my first time dealing with the process.
