Just a question

I thought this is a template for all active WWE Superstars on all three shows, not just performers who are active wrestlers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Five spice tofu (talkcontribs) 08:09, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Active/Inactive talent

So apparently they are listed by "on-screen status." This should be noted somewhere on the template or a clarification should be made about this, as DH Smith (for instance) has been inactive both on screen (and off, actually) yet remains listed as active, while Chavo has been actively wrestling house shows yet is listed as inactive (and last time I checked, the TV part of the business is not the whole business - and WWE's most recent financial reports can attest to the importance of non-televised live events). Either way, there is an inconsistency that should be addressed. --Edward Morgan Blake (talk) 10:09, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

The current division of active and inactive wrestlers is completely arbitrary. Guidelines should be created or the distinction should be scrapped. -- Kevin Browning (talk) 03:42, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

as far as i'm aware DH Smith is listed under inactive. Skitzo (talk) 11:26, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Split?

Seeing as this is a pretty bloated template, it seems logical to me to split it up into 3 separate templates; one for each brand. Thoughts?Hezekiah957 (talk) 22:49, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Steve Austin.

Austin is still on the roster. There is no reason to remove him from the template. I have put him back on it. -- Kevin Browning (talk) 03:43, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

he may be on the roster but he only makes "special" appearences, they leave him on WWE.com so when people google him it links to their site, unless he comes back full time leave him off.Skitzo (talk) 17:04, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Why? The template includes all current WWE roster members. That includes Austin. Hogan is not under contract, for example, thus he is not on the roster, although he still makes special appearances. I am going to keep adding Austin unless a good reason is given not to. -- Kevin Browning (talk) 03:45, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Austin is not under contract, except MAYBE a films deal, DO NOT ADD him he is on the roster page under "other personel" or something like that he doesn't not need to be on the template as he DOES NOT WRESTLE, persisting in adding him COULD be seen as vandalism. Skitzo (talk) 18:25, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

If he was not under contract, they couldn't legally put him on the roster on the website. He is not under other personnel, he is right there with the others on WWE.com. Whether he wrestles or not is irrelevant, as many of the so-called full-time performers rarely wrestle on Raw either. I disagree that it's vandalism, but rather a difference of opinion. Please see
WP:Civil. Thanks. -- Kevin Browning (talk
) 00:31, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Yes they can they did it for years with The Rock and Hogan, he probably has a kegends contract and is working with their films department, HE IS NOT UNDER A WRESTLING CONTRACT WITH THE WWE OR ANYONE ELSE. He is under "other personnel on the roster page on here, which is how we update the template, and it would be vandalism when the vast majority agree 1 thing and ONE person keeps doing something different. Skitzo (talk) 18:41, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

It's irrelevant how he's categorized on the Wikipedia page. On WWE.com, Austin is on the Raw roster, just like all the others. It's not vandalism to follow the primary source. And once again, I would ask that you stop posting in all caps, as it's considered inflammatory. Thanks. -- Kevin Browning (talk) 18:01, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
I tend to agree here with Skitzouk. We should be adding anyone without a wrestling contract unless we would want to add

Alphatbetical Order

Are the wrestlers supposed to be sorted by last name or by first name? The Raw list in particular is all over the place with that. Beth Phoenix under B for Beth, but Lance Cade under C for Cade, for example. McJeff (talk) 21:25, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

The alphabetical order is simple:
If it is a real name, it is alphabetized by the first letter of their surname.
If it is a stage name, it is alphabetized by the first letter of their name.

I revised the template to this:

The Brian Kendrick

There is no reason to overlink his name. The [[Briand Kendrick]] is the SAME INFO as [[Brian Kendrick|The Brian Kendrick]] except it takes up less space. I will point out Road Warriors and New Age Outlaws as similar articles where you always say "The" before them but leave them out of the link. Please discuss here rather than just putting it back in the article. TJ Spyke 21:16, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Since no one has raised any objections, then be default this is the consensus. TJ Spyke 15:04, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

LThe Brian Kendrick is his official ring name though. It's no actual difficulty to have the word 'The' included in the link, and it looks more correct, as the rest of the roster doesn't have parts of their name un-linked. Besides, the Road Warrior part is a stupid argument. The emphasis of his name is THE Brian Kendrick. The word 'The' was not emphasized in the Road Warriors. FOr that matter, The Big Show is fully linked and the word 'The' isn't even on his WWE.Com profile. I'm re-linking the word 'The' and it should remain that way. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.246.53.163 (talk) 05:33, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Not being in the link doesn't make it look any less official. How is The Road Warriors part stupid? It's the EXACT same situation. Writing "Brian Kendrick" twice just to have "The" appear blue instead of black is what's stupid. TJ Spyke 15:40, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Other?

Remove the "Other" section. if we really need an "Other" section, than we would have to pile every single non wrestler not assigned to a brand. so this "Other" section needs to go. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.17.130.13 (talk) 19:15, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

Hurrican Helms

His TitanTron video says "Hurricane Helms". His on-screen graphic says "Hurricane Helms". Tony Chimel announced him as "Hurricane Helms". Matt Striker and Josh Mathews called him "Hurricane Helms". His ringname is Hurricane Helms, end of story. A compromise was put in until Truco reverted for no good reason. At most both Hurricane Helms are The Hurricane are used, but no intelligent person can say Hurricane Helms isn't one of his current ringnames. TJ Spyke 22:19, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

Here's the problem, the storyline as of late is that Gregory Helms and The Hurricane are not the same person, which is why they created 2 separate profiles for them under "Gregory Helms" and "The Hurricane" [not Hurricane Helms]. The Hurricane Helms on the titantron is clearly a mess up by production, Chimel is always making mistake as are the commentators. For now all sources on WWE.com point to "The Hurricane", and recall that they just started this "split-personality" thing this past week, so I think its best to wait for this week's ECW on Syfy to see what is made of it.--Truco 503 23:16, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
Matt Striker rarely ever makes mistakes. He even made a point of saying it's not known if "Hurricane Helms" and "Gregory Helms" are the same person. At the very least it should be said he uses both versions of the Hurricane name. You can't say that the TitanTron, on-screen graphic, ring announcer, and both commentators are all wrong. TJ Spyke 23:55, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
TJ, be honest with me man. Do you really think that if they were trying to pull off the storyline of "Gregory HELMS" being different from "Hurricane HELMS", don't you think they would have not used the HELMS name for the Hurricane character? --Truco 503 00:00, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
In the real world? No. But logic has no place in wrestling (do you think Jeff would really forgive Matt after Matt burned down his house, killed his dog, tried to kill him by running him over, and tried to injure him by making the pyro go off in his face?). Things may change, but as of right now they are using the Hurricane Helms name on TV. TJ Spyke 00:09, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

FCW

Just putting this here in case the IP bothers to check. There is no more DJ Gabriel. After he was sent back down to FCW over 4 months ago (which means he should not be listed on the SmackDown roster), he started dropping it. On the July 2 episode of FCW, he started wrestling as just "Gabriel" and said he wanted to get back to the basics. There is also no source that Brett DiBiase is a member of the Raw roster. Just appearing in 2 backstage promos (of which he has about 2 sentences combined) doesn't mean he will be a member. Developmental wrestlers appear on WWE TV frequently without being called up to the main roster. TJ Spyke 21:31, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Ruthless Roundtable Stable?

I don't really understand why people are having coniptions over this.

I added the colors because:

1. It follows the policy of sports team templates that are done in their repective colors (ex. The Lakers templates are all purple and gold, the Celtics templates are green and white, etc.) Same deal here--Raw in Red, SD in Blue, etc.

2. It dresses up a blase template. It doesn't affect the content any, it's just for looks.

So I repeat--What's the reason for the hair pulling? (And don't just say "I don't like it"--give me logical reasons, or else you're just whisting Dixie).

Vjmlhds 04:43, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Here's my objection (and I am not the only one objecting to your changes) on this, based on what you said above - The WWE is a company, and not a "team" in the vein of other sports. Therefore nothing needs to be changed here. There is no "dressing up" that needs to be done here. And, since this is a "high visibility" template, you needed to seek a consensus first, so that's what we are trying to achieve now.   ArcAngel   (talk) ) 07:35, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

That is a very weak arguement. There other "non-sports" templates Look at McDonalds for example. They're in red and yellow, which are their colors (on the golden arches sign).

Vjmlhds 15:07, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Only because you made it that way. I'm sorry, but I fail to see what bug got under you to all of a sudden start changing colors on templates when they don't need to be changed.   ArcAngel   (talk) ) 15:16, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Remember the draft

To those it may concern...

In roughly 24 hours, WWE will have it's draft.

There's gonna be a bunch of people switching from Raw to SD and vice versa.

So the template is going to have to updated to reflect those changes.

This is a content matter, and has nothing to do with the current discussion about colors.

Paul Bearer & Stables & Tag Teams

You guys need to put Paul Bearer under the WWE Legends category as he just reported that he has signed a new 5-year contract w/ an option for a 6th, and one more thing; under stables & tag teams you don't have "The Corre" listed probably because there ins't a page for it. They've been around for a while so someone should jump on that, I would but I can't. As a matter of fact, since you guy are so professional and have everything under categories I would add a Stables & tag Teams section too. Ok guys thanks.

 — Preceding unsigned comment added by RKOTaKeR (talkcontribs) 21:44, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Rearrangement of listing

I have rearranged the listing of the article to Raw / Smackdown / NXT / WWE Legends / Stables and tag teams / Tough Enough / Commentators / Referees and WWE En Español / Unassigned employees / FCW. Mikeymike2001 doesn't seem to agree. Why? The current one is Raw / SmackDown / WWE Legends / NXT / Commentators / Tough Enough / FCW / Referees and WWE En Español / Unassigned employees / Stables and Tag teams.

Here's my rationale: There are three main categories: WWE "cast", WWE "crew" and FCW. FCW should be last. FCW is the developmental territory for WWE and nobody in that category appears on WWE programming at all, therefore it should be last. Now, regarding "cast" and "crew". "Cast", the wrestlers, go first. "Crew", go second. Who are the wrestlers, the cast? Raw / SmackDown / NXT / WWE Legends / Stables and tag teams. Arrange them however you want, but these five cagetories have to be first. Who's the crew? Tough Enough hosts / Commentators / Referees / Unassigned employees. Tough Enough participants though, seem to be "cast", but they're in a separate universe anyway from Raw / SmackDown, so Tough Enough just becomes the first category after the first five.

Therefore I will be rearranging the listing to reflect "cast", then "crew", then "FCW". Starship.paint (talk) 02:20, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

The reason I've changed it back is because it's suppose to match with the WWE personnel page. Plus, you made some errors like adding another Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks links to the Tag Team list when they already appear on the Raw section and adding a (I) to the original Sin Cara. It just looks better the old way.--
talk
) 02:34, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
I'll go to the WP:PW talk page. But the Hawkins/Reks/Cara thingy wasn't me. It was already changed. I just rearranged everything, I didn't touch the content except changing broadcast team to commentators and adding developmental to FCW Starship.paint (talk) 03:56, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
Changed as per Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Professional_wrestling#Rearrangement_of_listing_of_Template:WWE_personnel. Tough Enough removed as there isn't confirmation of another season, Broadcast Team to Commentators because everyone there is a commentator, Averno removed as his there are as much reliable sources saying he wasn't signed as there are those that said he was signed. Starship.paint (talk) 11:53, 3 October 2011 (UTC)

Merge the Raw/SD/NXT/Multibranded sections?

I propose merging the Raw/SD/NXT/Multibranded sections. Given the virtual end of the brand split where upper-card wrestlers from any brand appear on both Raw/SD as they wish, whereas lower-card wrestlers don't even appear on Raw/SD but on NXT/Superstars and also given that even WWE (through its newest version of its website) doesn't even bother to track which wrestler belongs to which brand, I propose we simply merge the sections.

Also, can we separate the commentators/announcers/hosts from the wrestlers... just like we separate the Spanish commentators and the referees? Starship.paint (talk) 08:11, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

I am going to make the changes based on the lack of dissent (and the presence of agreement) to them here and at the WP:PW talk page. Starship.paint (talk) 05:55, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

Major changes

Before making major wholesale changes to the template, please discuss them here and try to reach a consenus.

Judging by the dates these major changes started occuring, to the naked eye they kinda look like sour grapes edits after a consensus went against somebody on the main page.

I could be wrong, but certain things just didn't look right.

Vjmlhds 20:39, 25 December 2012 (UTC)

OK...let's do this by the book.

Does anybody agree with the changes Jobber made to the template?

Put me down for no. Vjmlhds 01:16, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

OK, Jobber...you just erased this out of spite. Erasing requests for consensus just shows you don't want to play the the rules, and would rather just bulldoze your POV through here. Vjmlhds 01:50, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

Vj... please try to remain objective and neutral. As for the major changes, I disagree with two and I'm on the fence with the last change. Firm 'nos to merging referees, commentators and ring announcers with other on-air personnel, as well as shifting stables and tag teams out of the main roster "group". About removing Legends' House and other legends, I'm more open to that, seeing as Legends' House has stagnated and never aired despite it being taped. Starship.paint (talk) 02:04, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
Starship.paint I just put the stables/tag teams group out of the main roster group so we could list the developmental ones that may appear (like the Ascension for example) in the same place. And the referees, the commentators and the ring announcers are other on-air personnel just like the GMs and the managers. The Legends group is simply unnecessary to this template. But I am okay if my edits are not welcomed here. WWEJobber (talk) 02:17, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
Okay, regarding stables, tag teams, why should we combine the developmental tag teams (rare as they may be, are there any other articles on developmental tag teams apart from the Ascension? I doubt that the Ascension article will stand against deletion given that Ascension never made it to main roster) with the main roster tag teams, when we are clearly separating the individual main roster and developmental wrestlers? Regarding the other on-air talent, it's true that the R/C/RA are other on-air talent, but the separation just makes it clearer IMO instead of lumping everyone together. Right now, the R/C/RA are distinctly and clearly separated, while the other on-air talent are the leftovers (five of six except Heyman are authority figures while Heyman and Vickie might be considered managers). About the Legends... are there sources about Legends/Ambassador contracts, apart from my current queries about Legends House? Vj? Keith? Starship.paint (talk) 09:10, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
Go ahead and kill the Legends' house section, as God only knows when that will (if ever) come to pass. There are references out there discussing Legends contracts and who has them, though they may have to get peace-mealed together to get a clear picture. Vjmlhds 15:23, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
Not everybody that has appeared on WWE Classics has a Legends contract. Ric Flair for instance is not under any kind of contract, as he just got done with TNA, and was brought in at the Slammys as a one shot deal. Vjmlhds 19:37, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
About Ric Flair, you have a source for that? And about the most recent edits of adding Garvin and Trish and whoever... are there sources, WWEJobber? Starship.paint (talk) 04:45, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
About Trish there are sources that dated back the last Tough Enough season (and she was expected to be a TE trainer again in the new season that will start when WWE Network debut). With a little time I can find a concrete report to post here. Jimmy Garvin works in WWE as a major colaborator since the The Triumph and Tragedy of World Class Championship Wrestling DVD and participates in the WWE Legends roundtable (a discussion roundtable composed just by Legends of course). Still waiting for the source that indicates Ric Flair as a "one shot deal". WWEJobber (talk) 09:26, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
Alright, good job, at least you know of the sources, next step is to provide and list the sources in http (or, at least provide screenshots) About Trish, I don't think we should list her until the new TE season starts, after all, the last season of TE is over and WWE Network hasn't started and may never will. Starship.paint (talk) 12:30, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

I agree with you but in fact she is not just a former TE trainer. She appears on WWE TV programs on a constant basis just like Roddy Piper, Mae Young and Ron Simmons, for example. Citing the last appearances that I can remember: April 3, 2011 Raw; June 6, 2011 Raw; September 16, 2011 SmackDown; July 23, 2012 Raw (without mention all of her appearances from Elimination Chamber 2011 to WrestleMania XXVII because of her angle with Snookie). You are totally wrong. I did not include her in the template. She was here a long time before. And I did not understand what is the conection between her appearances with her age. By your POV we should remove Bret Hart too because before Raw 1,000 he last appeared on September 12, 2011 Raw. And Steve Austin too because the last time he appeared Raw still had the Anonymous General Manager. Jimmy Snuka last appearance was on 2010. Kevin Nash on TLC 2011. Jimmy Hart before the "Blast From The Past SmackDown" just on SummerSlam 2011. WWEJobber (talk) 21:33, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
Ain't better if we remove this template's Legends section at all instead of discussing who's got a contract and who hasn't? There aren't any sources here proving who should be removed nor who should be kept. It should work both ways right? Is better to list just the people that are really active and in storylines (like Lesnar and Johnson) and leave behind all the ones that just make guest appearances on special shows and PPVs and backstage skits and segments. Nomelck (talk) 22:01, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

NXT

Since when are Percy Watson and Derrick Bateman on the main roster? If you don't mind, they should be removed.78.148.100.19 (talk) 03:41, 19 January 2013 (UTC)

They were listed on WWE.com as main roster sometime in the past. I just checked again and they have been removed, I wasn't aware of that. Funnily enough they are not listed in the NXT roster either so maybe they are released haha Starship.paint (talk) 00:33, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

I checked again, WWE.com does not list them as CURRENT ROSTER but they appear under ALL SUPERSTARS. Certainly a level of ambiguity. Watson I'm leaning towards developmental because since the end of the "main roster" NXT Redemption, he has wholly wrestled on the developmental WWE NXT. A case for Bateman is that he's wrestled on Saturday Morning Slam versus Cesaro and Superstars since the end of NXT Redemption. Starship.paint (talk) 08:26, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

UPDATE: Watson, Bateman still not listed as "Current" on WWE.com, "Superstars" section, but only on the "NXT" section within "Superstars". That should settle it. Starship.paint (talk) 06:53, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
Watson and Bateman are listed on WWE.com and ain't on NXTWrestling.com. Not developmental wrestlers for sure. They also appear on Superstars and Slam. And they travel and work live events with the main roster too. AARDJ (talk) 12:20, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
Sure, they're not on the NXTWrestling page... and they're not on the CURRENT WWE roster. So they are anomalies. Working live events isn't notable (without a title change). Bateman has appeared on Superstars and Slam. Watson hasn't, so he's leaning towards developmental roster. He can't have appeared more than twice on Superstars, and that was during NXT Redemption, since then he's been stuck on WWE NXT. I thought about it more and I get your point. Problem is, they really don't fit in either category. Starship.paint (talk) 12:47, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
To clarify, yes, I got your point so I understand where you are comng from. But I don't totally agree with it because I simply think I have a point too. Watson's lack of Superstars/Slam appearances since Redemption added is too telling for me. He should be classed as developmental until he makes an appearance on one of the main roster shows since the new WWE NXT started. Unless... unless you can find footage of him appearing on Raw/SD since the new NXT started? I vaguely remember something to do with AJ/Cena but I can't confirm. Starship.paint (talk) 22:26, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
As I can remember now he appeared in last year's Great American Bash with Alicia Fox in a Damien Sandow backstage segment. It was after the new NXT season began. AARDJ (talk) 12:12, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
One backstage segment does not cconsititute inclusion. Percy should be NXT and Bateman should stay with WWE due to his appearences on SMS and Superstars.

Please remove The Beautiful People as they are not signed to WWE. 75.170.253.7 (talk) 19:04, 4 April 2016 (UTC)

Already done - At this time, "The Beautiful People" are not listed in {{WWE personnel}}. There has been a lot of editing activity over the last couple of days, and it's possible that they were removed during that time. fredgandt 23:17, 5 April 2016 (UTC)

Symbols indicating injury, suspension, etc.

I've been thinking whether this template should include symbols indicating that a wrestler is injured, suspended, or et cetera. Here is a list of people who are out: Bella (i), Cena (i), Harper (i), Kidd (i), Neville (i), Orton (i), Rollins (i), Wyatt (i), Konner (s), O'Neil (s), Rose (s). It's quite a long list and I believe that it is necessary to indicate which wrestlers are out on injury or suspension. It's done on the roster lists for NBA, MLB, etc., and it can be done here.

Can someone move Oney Lorcan into the NXT roster? Hes made his debut, had his music released, and as of the past episode has had a backstage interview. He's apart of the roster, not unnassigned. Thanks. 101.103.158.15 (talk) 07:39, 4 August 2016 (UTC)

John Cena should still be listed as an unassigned talent. He's a free agent that can appear on both Raw and Smackdown, him being listed under Raw is incorrect. 2601:640:C000:2F14:C8EC:524F:CA8A:E0D4 (talk) 11:35, 30 January 2018 (UTC)

Harper and Rowan

Is there a reason why they shouldn't be added to the template? Forgive me, I am just trying to figure out if we have a guideline for inclusion. StaticVapor message me! 22:05, 26 September 2019 (UTC)

  • I was mystified as well. Blindly reverting without an explanation is just as much editwarring. Was there even an attempt at BRD on either side?. MPJ-DK (talk) 19:13, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
I don't think so.. this was my attempt to figure this out. I do honestly understand the reverting, someone restoring their
disruptive editing forsure. Tagging everyone @Oknazevad: @Galatz: @Keith Okamoto: @WrestlerHelper3:. StaticVapor message me!

There was an open thread on
WP:ANEW about this users editing, since he was edit warring several topics across several pages. He was informed multiple times he needs to discuss his changes and refused to. My reverts revolved around a topic other than this (switching Revival and Dolph between brands) or post his ban, not about the content on this. In theory both are on smackdown and reformed so it makes sense to have, but this ban was about his editing style not the content, at least on my end. - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk

You reverted the addition of Harper and Rowan as a team to the template, repeatedly - with no discussion that I can see. Behavior of others is not a reason to revert something that is actually a fine edit. MPJ-DK (talk) 21:30, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
