Ebauche is the pseudonym of Alex Leonard, an

, although has an alternative meaning: "A Rough Sketch". As a result the below is written in the third person, and I'll probably turn it back to the first person in due course.

History

Alex Leonard began composing music in 2000, experimenting with sample layering and time stretching. Between 2000 and 2002 he used the moniker "The Futility of Orange". In 2002 he changed his name to Ebauche and began playing live sets with Invisible Agent and the Alphabet Set. 2003 saw the first official release, a 4 track EP called "Man, This is so crazy". Since this release Ebauche has released another EP and a full length ambient album, Incomplete Watch Movement.

Between 2004 and 2006 Ebauche played a variety of live sets, supporting the likes of Keith Fullerton Whitman, Biosphere, and Ambulance. Most recently he has played at the Mantua Festival in Roscommon and the Hotel Ballymun Project.

In addition to live sets and releases, Ebauche has composed music for a number of short films:
