I'm not a (very) proactive editor around these parts, but I apply my keen eye for structural detail to copy-editing as I go.
I am a comma-pedant, but my style model may be dated, and I'll make exceptions for artistry of expression.
My mom and I are both avid readers, and she's a published author, so I learned a lot about
manuscripts he had ever seen, and yet she'll tell you her knowledge of formal grammatical
structure is rudimentary at best. I would describe myself similarly, but somehow we make it work and flow and read well. Or so we're told. And that's what I work on most.
I also adjust weaselly language, and logical fallacies and inconsistencies, if I can, as long as they don't require a complete rewrite.
Also, my speeling iz for teh crap.
