Reviews

"A classic!" John Kennedy, XFM [1]

Combining Kim Gordon style angst with lyrics about doing the dishes and listening to people having sex next door…thrilling stuff.Dazed & Confused [2]

Irresistible...moody and memorable.Roomthirteen.com [3]

"Kaputt Dishes (North and South). This could very well be the coolest fucking thing on the planet right now and this being the run in towards the years end its a safe wager that had Peel been around this cutie may well have been gathering votes at such a pace that the top spot for the Festive 50 would have been a bets off foregone conclusion. Kaputt are a fledging Anglo - German combo put together by ex Go! Team (er) Silke Steidinger and the demonic Dishes is their debut release. Those expecting anything remotely similar in sound to Steidingers former charges had better quickly again, this brutish hollowed beauty is a punishing heads down sonic assault that mutates around a circularly grinding kraut groove that has you imagining the Pixies having their DNA cross wired with the head shrinking low strung bass line of a Movement era Peter Hook and fed into a matrix consisting of the Vibration, a pristine prickly variant of Sonic Youth and Quick space - all this topped off to be blessed with a deeply affecting blank despondency that attacks your defences like some potent airborne virus to crush you within an inch of your life. An absolute gem. Joint deputy single of the missive. [email protected] - http://www.losingtoday.com [4]

“An angry, gloriously repetitive Sonic Youth-style intro gives way to a Krautish indie romp. Ice-cool indie rock to make your heart glow.” Tunetribe [6]

"Wow what a treat. This will go down great at the clubs, it has all the potential of a great dance floor single. We love it. I can't wait to hear more stuff!" Club Silver (Underworld) / XFM 1st Friday (Academy)[7]

"'29 November 2006 | Dan Carney Dish of the day If hearing the word "indie" puts you in mind of The Pixies and Sonic Youth rather than Razorlight and The Killers, then Kaputt - featuring Silke Steidinger from former Mercury nominees The Go! Team - will have you beaming with pleasure... Although Anglo-German outfit Kaputt number The Go! Team's Silke Steidinger among their ranks, their debut single is about as far away from joyous Bollywood-style mash-ups as it's possible to be. Informed by US college rock and the maverick invention of Kims Gordon and Deal, 'Dishes' sees an angry, gloriously repetitive Sonic Youth-style intro give way to a Krautish indie romp a la Pixies and The Breeders. And the more we look, the more we can spy the renegade spirit of Mark E. Smith winking at us from a dark corner. Which is a good thing, obviously. Ice-cool indie rock to make your heart glow. 'Dishes' is exclusively available from TuneTribe in the MP3 format'''." www.tunetribe.com' [8]
