Chris Weston

Chris Weston (born UK, 1967) is a

British wildlife photographer, filmmaker and documentary presenter. He is also an author of natural history
and photography books and a leader of photographic workshops and worldwide tours.

Biography

Chris Weston has been a professional wildlife photographer since 2001, having turned his back on a successful career in IT, and has been described by Amateur Photographer magazine as “One of the most dynamic wildlife photographers working today.” He specializes in photographing

mammals and endangered species and his work is published globally, with clients including the BBC, ITV, The Daily Telegraph, The Independent, The Guardian, and National Geographic. In 2011 his images were selected by The Sunday Times magazine for its feature titled “The Year’s Best Animal Photographs”. He has written over thirty books on wildlife and photography, which have been translated into numerous languages including French, Spanish, Italian, German and Mandarin. In 2009, Thames & Hudson published his iconic work Animals on the Edge: Reporting from the Frontline of Extinction, which has been described as 'The most up-to-date visual survey of our world’s rare and endangered species.' In 2011 he was named by Outdoor Photography magazine as one of the world’s “40 Most Influential”[1]
wildlife photographers.

charity Animals on the Edge. He is an Ambassador for the African Lion & Environmental Research Trust, a Trustee of the Happy Africa Foundation and an Affiliate Member of the US conservation organization Canopy.

Animals on the Edge

Animals on the Edge was co-founded by

. Its main aim is to provide effective and sustainable solutions to conservation problems that address the diverse and often-demanding needs of not just wildlife but also of communities and the institutions that serve those communities, including governments and businesses. Animals on the Edge is engaged in researching new and innovative methods of conserving wildlife and proposing to corporate and governmental decision makers sustainable real-world solutions to conservation challenges.

The Forlorn Hope Tour

In 2011 Chris Weston undertook a charity bike ride (known as the Forlorn Hope Tour), which followed the complete route of the 2011

Avenue des Champs-Élysées
in Paris and raised over £12,000.

Chris Weston Media

In 2012 Chris Weston teamed up with John Beck, a former BBC documentary, news, drama and underwater cameraman, to form Chris Weston Media. The joint venture company produces full-feature wildlife documentaries and educational videos. Their first major film Surprising, Secret Stories About Wildlife: Adventures of a Wildlife Photographer
