Curtis Dean Klinger (storyteller, actor, author)

Curtis Dean Klinger (born December 2 1958) is an American author, storyteller and actor. Klinger is best known for his dynamic voice, but is also well loved for his short stories and his first novel, Dean Ransom - Restored.

Early Years

Klinger was born in

. His parents were Eldora (Heemstra) Klinger (1922-1999) and Maurice Klinger (1920- ). Curtis Klinger attended Sabin Elementary school and John F. Kennedy High School, both in Denver, Colorado. Klinger served in the US ARMY from 1976-1982, he achieved the rank of W-2. In 1982 Curtis Dean Klinger was listed in the U.S Jaycees, Outstanding Young Men of the Year for his innovation in business, inventivness and creativity.

Stage

Beginning in elementary school, Klinger found his place on stage. When his voice changed, about 12 years of age, he received the nickname 'the lion' because of his deep resonate voice. After serving in the US ARMY, Klinger finished his schooling at the

. During this time he performed in various college and community theater productions. After appearing in numerous small stage productions, Klinger, a devout Christian, wrote, produced and performed in his 1986 one-man show called Hear the Tale, the story of the biblical character of . After only two performances, Klinger abandoned the 2-hour monologue. Other one-man shows that Klinger performed, include: Not My Cup (1988), written by Curtis Klinger, the story of Joseph of Arimathea. The Exile (1997-1999), a modified version of St. John in Exile - written by Don Berrigan and originally performed by actor Dean Jones. Knight of Grace (2004), written by Curtis Klinger, a tale set in 410AD about a Roman General, Ovgrace, who shares some of his adventures, the greatest being when he became a Christian. Alongside his one-man shows, Klinger has performed in various community theaters and in the Denver Passion Play as Caiaphas (1992-1996).

Writing

Klinger began writing dramatic short stories for oral presentation. Many of his short stories found their way into small community magazines where they were published for filler. As well as writing approximately 100 short stories, Klinger has written dozens of brief plays, usually for Church or school presentations, and three dramatic monologues, which he produced and performed. With his background in electronics and mechanics, Klinger fulfilled contracts to write technical and operational manuals for companies such as Honeywell, Docutel, Diebold, and General Electric. He became best known for his first Novel, Dean Ransom, Restored (2008)

Personal life

Klinger's first marriage to Teresa Tidball ended in divorce in the early 1980s. He has a daughter from that union. He has been married since 1990 to Debbie Gibson. Curtis Klinger became a devout born-again Christian in 1976-1977, while living in Germany and serving in the US ARMY. He continues to write, and perform dramatic monologues.
