  • Can someone of good character set this up for inclusion on The Wizard of New Zealand's page or also as a stand alone page for the film? There has been a LOT of accusation particularly from admins that I'm biased in trying to "promote" or have a pecuniary interest in the film. Personally I don't care either way - But I would like to see the film represented in Wikipedia; as I believe it is a voice for the voiceless of the Chathams Islands.

'The Wizard and the Commodore - Chathams Islands' is a real

The

Wizard of New Zealand inducted an apprentice Wizard of the Chatham Island
; Jim Murphy.

The film has been called "controversial" for it's historical documentation of the

Ngati Toa tribes from the mainland of New Zealand - these issues are hotly debated even today. Latest DNA origins of Pacific peoples and possible migration patterns of Moriori are also examined in depth. The film provides concrete evidence of Pacific origins of Moriori
.

The Film also documents the debated Moriori Crucifixions at Waitangi which have never been presented in a feature film, and describe indigenous cultures that even to this day are under threat from modernization. The film gives voice to the voiceless, and a culture which barely survived systematic annihilation at the hands of Colonists.

The 140 minute film screened to a test audience at the Hollywood Cinema, Sumner, Christchurch, New Zealand 26th August 2016.

The revised 115 minute film including a 10minute intermission test screened in 2017 on the Chatham Island at the Norman Kirk centre Waiteki/Waitangi where it was considered "highly controversial".

Spacewow Inc. of Los Angeles holds the sales rights to the film.
