Re: Winkler. Between the "sounding a pedant" part and you're coming back with a second round of new concerns, the process felt dispiriting -- brownies aside. It's not that your concerns weren't valid or that they didn't improve the article. To me, the process grew quibbly and finicky -- rather than focused. And you seemed happy to move the finish line around at your own pleasure. You could have copied the Brunswick reference later in the article up to where you wanted it in a fraction of the time it took to communicate what you wanted me to do. Try in the future to provide a single round of review comments for a DYK -- and keep comments succinct. Thanks. Best. 842U (talk) 20:24, 2 April 2014 (UTC)
I figured it wasn't the most encouraging thing you've done, but I hope you can see where I am coming from. I have had a couple of poor articles of mine on the main page, and it's not an experience to try again. The reason I didn't copy the ref (I normally would if I could) was partially that I forgot, and partially that I didn't feel it needed the ref there if it was sourced later. Providing a single round of comments can be pointless, I can spend a fair amount of time pointing out issues, and the nominator will simply do nothing (see Template:Did you know nominations/Everything is Awesome, I gave a comment regarding size, which was ignored). I am very sorry for making it hard for you, and hope you come back to nominate more articles, and don't mind me reviewing other nominations of yours in the future. Thanks, Matty.007 08:35, 3 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply, and thanks for posting the number of views. How does one locate the number of views now? 842U (talk) 11:38, 3 April 2014 (UTC)
On the template, there are the headings 'Live views' and 'Daily totals'. Live views gives slightly more, and enables you to see on the day of request, whilst daily totals is the one used in
Stats and is only available the day after. Thanks, Matty.007

Johnnie Boden
I can get access to several newspapers via (one) of my library cards - is this the info you were looking for on Johnnie Boden?
"Rich list" from the Sunday Times, 21 April 2013:
position = 368 "Pounds 215m Pounds 105m
Johnnie Boden and family Fashion and mail order Profits in Boden, the mail order and internet fashion retailer, fell sharply in 2011 from Pounds 32.5m to Pounds 17.9m, though sales rose 6% in the period to nearly Pounds 246m. Old Etonian Boden, 51, is looking to America for growth. The London-based operation is worth Pounds 300m, with the family stake worth Pounds 190m. There are other assets and past dividends.
2012: Pounds 320m, position was 255="
Don't know if this might help as well:
"Thatch is latest Boden fashion" by Chittenden, Maurice. Sunday Times [London (UK)] 13 Jan 2008 (it's actually an article about planning application submitted by Boden, hence the title!)
"Boden launched his clothing company in 1991. While on a banking assignment in New York, he was inspired by the high standards set by American mail order firms and on his return to Britain sent out his first catalogue featuring just eight menswear products. The whole operation was run from his flat. Today the internet has become his main business tool, turnover is more than Pounds 128m a year and he employs 600 staff. He made Pounds 22.8m profit in 2006."
Ah, thank you Sagacious! Do you know what "Pounds 215m Pounds 105m" means? Thanks, Matty.007 13:31, 3 April 2014 (UTC)
Seems to be he was number 368 on the list (of 1000 richest people) in 2013 and was worth a total of £320 million; In 2012 he was number 255 and total worth was also £320 million.
It's a bit difficult to work out with all the screeds of names and figures. Maybe this quote from Butler, Sarah. The Observer [London (UK)] 26 May 2013 might help clarify:
In the UK, sales growth has slowed as even Boden's relatively well-off shoppers, with a typical household income of pounds 70,000, are feeling the economic strain. The company has responded by cutting the price of its cheapest items, such as T-shirts, by about 20% and improving services such as delivery. Boden admits: "This year has not been as great as it should have been." Profits fell 45% to pounds 17.9m on sales of pounds 245.9m in 2011 - the latest figures - amid tough conditions and a big increase in the price of cotton, which is widely used in Boden clothes. But growth abroad and lower cotton prices lifted profits again last year, although the company will not reveal by how much. Boden, who is estimated to be sitting on a pounds 320m fortune according to the Sunday Times rich list, says he has no plans to sell his 60% stake (the rest is owned by former and current staff) or seek outside investment and wants to stay involved in the business "for as long as I'm good at it".
Can you tell me: if someone is using a mono skin, do scripts etc have to be placed in a mono.js page to work or will they port over from a vector.js page?
Thanks for the clarification. I'm afraid skins aren't my strong point, so I hope T13 won't mind me pinging him (he is much better at this than me). Thanks, Matty.007 14:21, 3 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks - what I'm trying to do (in case you haven't guessed!) is sort out Hafs DYK checker and I've also found a short script to try and help him add refs. Crisco added the DYK checker to Hafs vector.js but Hafs says it's not showing in the toolbar. So I wonder if he's still in MonoBook or some such.
If the code is on your vector.js page, it will only work if you have selected the vector skin. If you want code to work on any page regardless of skin, you need to put it on your common.js page. — {{U|Technical 13}}(t • e • c) 14:42, 3 April 2014 (UTC)
Check your inbox and let me know what it's come out like? The £320 million is the total of £215 million plus the £105 million - I'm still trying to work out what the two figures indicate (maybe personal wealth for one and ??? for the other). Some media quote the total, then bizarrely others quote one or the other; but the general media has always been so sensible (not)!
Haha, controversial! Matty.007 11:10, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

Working a we speak. I usually like to get an article up to rock-solid start class before I post it, so this is a bit different for me. At the moment I am just chucking stuff in so it will look a bit messy for the next 24 hrs, but I'm sure we will get there. I think the fact that he retired and came back could be DYK worthy. By the way, the "s" key on my antique Toshiba laptop doesn't work too well (see above) so any help with copyediting would be welcomed. Tigerboy1966 20:09, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi Matty, I've been pottering with a few parasport articles. One is the recent 2014 IPC Powerlifting World Championships, which I started on the 8th, and saw 14 out of the 20 winning medalists set world records. I think it has enough text in it to pass DYK, but I can always increase it if you think it needs more puff. While today's London Marathon winning men's wheelchair racer Marcel Hug, now has an article more befitting an athlete of his prominence. Cheers, FruitMonkey (talk) 16:25, 13 April 2014 (UTC)
Both look like very good jobs. Nominating now; I was planning to get some of the recent GAs nominated as well, I've not had a chance, being on holiday. Thanks again, Matty.007 16:33, 13 April 2014 (UTC)
Thank you very much indeed for your comment. Much appreciated. You're absolutely right that there is lot to work with in the DNB article. I honestly don't have time to do much more with the Wiki page myself for the moment, so if you fancy expanding it please go ahead and do so. Very many thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vietnamvat (talk • contribs)
I'll have a look in a few days, I am going away for a bit until Wednesday. If the article gets over 1500 characters of prose (i.e. excluding Wikilinks and the like) it can be nominated for
did you know, which would hopefully result in the article appearing in that section on the main page. First things first though, it needs expanding, either by you or me when I get back. Well done on a very good new article! All the best, Matty.007

Thanks for the ping, Matty, and well said. Exoplanetaryscience, I'd just add that I gave you a mild warning because you'd done some constructive edits before, but please do be aware that such an act of vandalism is the first step in getting yourself blocked from Wikipedia and asking for another editor to back you up on it was the second. On 19 April 2014, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article The 37's, which you recently nominated. The fact was ... that the episode "The 37's" was the first time in a Star Trek series that a Federation starship had landed on a planet's surface? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/The 37's. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Well, there is this article, about Hergé, and it has a section: Personal life. And that section has only one line: Hergé greatly enjoyed walking in the countryside.... Weird section. Eh, really? I know a few people who are like that, no iterest in life except one or two things, and boring they are, indeed, but I can hardly imagine that Hergé is boring. Hi Matty, I came across your post at the teahouse about a photo for the article Ernest Radcliffe Bond. Just wanted to point out to you that any photo by the UK government prior to 1957 (e.g. a photo during Bond's army career) would be public domain per commons:Template:PD-UKGov. If you have come across any images like that, please upload them so that a free image can replace the image currently in the article! Thanks for your great work on that article! I need your assistance with the Bartholomew Bretherton (jockey) page.
I've added some more information to this page regarding the "1836 Grand Liverpool Steeplechase". Having reread it, I feel that I have put it in the wrong place. I don't think it belongs under the heading FAMILY. Perhaps I should have entered a new section "BIOGRAPHY" above and put it there. However, having had problems with formatting previously, I am scared to try to enter anything else and put in any spaces in case the same thing happens. What do you think? Audrey202 (talk) 03:34, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
Audrey202 (talk) 04:10, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
I changed the heading to 'Biography'. Please ask if there is anything else I can do, though bear in mind I am away with work until this Sunday. Thanks, Matty.007 17:50, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

Agreed. The main reason was I just never got round to adding it! I also intended to produce starter articles for the years so that others could add to them gradually, but I've been very busy recently. One day :) Regards Fishiehelper5 (talk) 20:03, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

GA/DYK 2012 Paralympics
Thanks for the DYK nomination. To be honest, I don't think I deserve much of the credit for the GA improvement - I just came along after all the work had been done and swept up some of the dust. Looking at the edit history, User:ViperSnake151 did the lion's share of the improving. But thank you again. - EronTalk 14:45, 27 April 2014 (UTC)
I credited you both in the nom, it seemed to me like you've both done work on the article. Thanks, Matty.007 14:48, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

Yes, I could use that as an alt. I just thought that you had already used that hook for the western green mamba, so I thought maybe I couldn't. --Dendro†NajaTalk to me! 22:53, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
That is a very valid point, I still think that there should be a more shocking hook (which is also easier for simple laymen such as me to understand). Thanks, Matty.007 18:07, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks from me too!
Thank you for the barnstar. I am doing lots of DYK reviewing while I wait for my editor review to grind to a conclusion. I was going to review Henry Percy for DYK as well but you have not done a QPQ there either. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 19:34, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
I haven't done a QPQ on that for a reason: there are a few tags in the Ancestry table I am trying to resolve/discuss with another editor, so was discouraging people from reviewing it (the Grand National one was laziness I'm afraid, though I am doing a review now to make up for it).
