Suzanne Csikos-Nagy (Suzanne C. Nagy) is a

Born in Hungary to a Hungarian father, Dr. Csikós Nagy Béla, a reform economist, a professor and was State Secretary of the Institute of Price and Material and to a Swiss mother, Suzanne spent her childhood in Budapest.

Suzanne started exploring art in Hungary. She moved to the United States in 1978.

She has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Budapest University. She specialized on international trade and law. She was a student of professor Istvan Nemeskürty and received a diploma in 1977 as a filmmaker, a film producer and a film writer. She also studied art at the Art Students League of New York between 1980-1982.

Career

Suzanne left Hungary in 1977. She was the exclusive representative of the Hungarian film industry, Hungarofilm, between 1978 until 1986. She was the liaison between the American producers and Hungarian film industry. She brought 4 American film productions to Hungary.

In 1982, she formed her own company and entered into a co-production arrangement with the Chicago-based company to produce the film Grizzly II: Revenge (also known as Grizzly II: The Concert) in Hungary in 1983. As a movie producer, she worked with talents such as George Clooney, Louis Fletcher, Charlie Sheen and Laura Dern. The movie was never released in theaters.^[1] It was not finished until now due to legal and personal reasons. She gained full control over the movie in 1988 and is currently working on it. Her ambition was to be able to finance the completion and control the outcome of the film. The opportunity came in 2019 when she found the proper arrangement to digitize the film and complete the sequences. GBGB International completed the film. The movie will be distributed in early 2020.

Suzanne C. Nagy is president of Gallery Les Looms and Art Haz Gallery, curating fine art and works on paper between 16^th-20^th century. She is also managing her online auction house which is in Manhattan New York.

Works

Grizzly II. Revenge (film)

Formerly called

The main scenes for Grizzly II: The Predator were completed, but before special effects featuring a huge electromechanical bear could be used, the executive producer, Joseph Proctor, disappeared with all of the funds, with some sources saying that he was jailed during the time of the filming. Filmed footage of a live bear, however, attacking a live rock concert, was shot in Hungary. Attempts have been made to recut and film more scenes, but to date, the film has never been released. A bootleg version with the original work print was released in 2007.

Co-producer Suzanne C. Nagy gained full control over the movie in 1988 and purchased the Grizzly II title and the sequels rights.

In 2019, GBGB International took over the completion of the film. The new title Grizzly II. Revenge is an upgrade from the previously known version. Only 75% of the original movie which was shot in Hungary in 1983 was included and 25% was added.^[2]

Transparentism

Suzanne C. Nagy invented Transparentism in 2004. In her work she uses a method of creating 3-D, transparent, photographic sculptures to visualize the depth and meaning of pollution. She made the non-seeable seeable for the human eye. She exhibited her works all over the United States and Europe.

Transparentism is a product of our digital and technological age. Artists now have immense possibilities to experience new ways of creating art. One of her signature work is LED lightboxes and LED light panels.^[3] 

After documenting the cause of pollution, she started to work on the solution of sustainability.

In 2013, she started to create large-scale 3D light panels, under the series “Sustainable Nature Solutions"

Sustainable Nature Solutions Series

A creative breakthrough happened in 2008 when Nagy’s work started addressing how we should respond to pollution. This was the beginning of Sustainable Nature Solutions. Her paintings and multimedia works provoked the viewer to question their silent complicity as the consumer of industry. But more importantly, Nagy’s work suggested solutions to environmental pollution that were personal, scaled to the individual, and not the politician or state.
