In general, I think there is a difference between telling people what others commonly do, and telling them how to do it. I would have said the article was descriptive rather than instructive. But feel free to discuss it on the talk page or go ahead and edit if you think there are secrions which need changing.

editing question
Hi Ainlina, I am new to editing and requesting help on Wikipedia. I tried leaving a message before in the wrong place I think. This is Shaun Taylor-Corbett, and I am trying to edit my own page and you recently reverted it back to the way it was before. Can you allow me to edit the content in a way that I would like to express myself? I will use the edit summary. For example, my place of birth is not correct, how I self-identify is general and I'd like to adjust that and I would like to restructure my life's works. I also would like to change the picture to one that represents how I look better. The one up there now is really not flattering for me at all. Thank you for looking after the page but as an actor this is really important to me. If I am unable to make edits on my own life, please let me know. Thank you for your help! mediation
Is this how "mediation" is suppost to work?--
- Ainlina, there is currently an arbcom open for Alaistar Haines that has included Lisa and myself (and our long history of incessant edit wars) in it's scope. Would it be appropriate to close this mediation cabal since it is now superseded by the arbcom? Carlaude only had the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The problem is really between Lisa and myself, and I doubt Carlaude will have too many run ins.talk) 15:18, 7 August 2008 (UTC)]

I am very confused by your vandalism accusation.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:71.1.106.178
Please don't accuse people of things like that without some basis for it. Why do you think "ugly" was the right word in that sentence?

- Thank you for your correction. Please be very careful about words like "vandalism", which can be upsetting to people when misused. I disagree with many of the ways wikipedia is run, but one thing I do agree with is W:assume good faith. Vandalism mainly occurs because of the open nature of this project, a hefty price paid for anonymous edits such as mine. I'll try to make it worth it, thank you again for the apology and correction. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.1.106.178 (talk) 19:37, 8 October 2008 (UTC)]
- p.s. when I wrote the above I used the link W:assume good faith. That seems to link to good faith, instead of Wikipedia:Assume good faith, which I intended. Do you know how to fix that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.1.106.178 (talk) 19:40, 8 October 2008 (UTC)]
What?!? I reverted vandalism, I did not add it. That must have been a mistake. Look at my edit history and everything. If it is vandalism (I did something by mistake, then), please tell me! I'm freaking out right now. Sorry if I did anything!

Someone got to your AIV report before I could.
- User has been inappropriately warned. 4im warnings are appropriate for severe vandalism and defamation only.
That would have been my response. The user made two edits, neither of which earned a 4im and then was reported for their third edit. Do not do that again. You start at 1 and work up to 4 except in cases of exceptionally bad vandalism. And reports come after legitimate final warnings.

El tren de los momentos
I removed the redirect. You can now do the move. Make sure that it is not a controversial move (that it is not disputed) or if it is controversial that a consensus is reached in a discussion before it is moved. I speak enough Spanish to understand that it means "The train of/for the moments", but I don't know if titles go uncapitalized in Spanish. Royalbroil 15:21, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

Just wanted to say that I appreciate working with you on the Louis R. Gottschalk Afd today. I use each issue as a learning experience. Although AfDs often lead to disagreements that some people tend to take personally, I respect the comments and dialogue and appreciate the feedback. While the notability of the subject of the article indicates appropriate inclusion on Wikipedia, I wanted to encourage you to continue to nominate articles that you consider inappropriate. I appreciate your work. It is not taken lightly. Cindamuse (talk) 05:49, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Château-Thierry – Belleau Aerodrome, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Controlled (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Article Feedback Tool update
Hey Ainlina. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the
We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.
Again, we're very sorry about this issue; hopefully it'll be smooth sailing after this :). If you have any questions, just

deOrphaning script
Hello everyone! I was just working on responding to a couple bug reports for a script that I worked up as part of a request from this project, and I noticed that only a couple people (who weren't even on this mailing list) are actually using the script. A little history on the script: In March of 2014, Jim Cartar came to my user talk page and said he needed some help in acquiring a script for a backlog drive that he was working on that could keep track of and score deOrphanings for a scored backlog drive. I took that request to the project's talk page (BackLog Drive "DO" (De-Orphaning) script proposal) and there was near unanimous support for this. I thought about the proposal and decided the best way to do it was to build a new script (which is still no where near as comprehensive as Manishearth's OrphanTabs) and build into it a mechanism that will make BLD scoring easy.
What I'm wondering at this point is, since there appears to be only two people using the script, should I continue to develop this script with a goal of using it for scoring BLDs or just debug the existing script and leave it at that. Thanks for any replies or comments.

The Bear Quartet article
Hello. My name is Cliferton, and I was the first person to add citations to the article for The Bear Quartet. It appears as though you have reverted changes I made to the article due to me not giving a reason for those edits. I apologize for not giving an edit summary, it was purely out of laziness. The reason that I made those changes was to make the article sound more proffesional, which I feel is important. I will be removing the content again. Regards, Cliferton. Shaun Taylor-Corbett
Hi Ainlina,
I edited Shaun Taylor-Corbett's page because I am Shaun Taylor-Corbett. Can you please restore the content that I edited up there. I am an artist and would like to present my life's work in a way that I am comfortable with as well as how I identify. I also would like a picture that I choose to represent myself. I will leave an edit summary from now on but I would like to rearrange how my life work is presented. Thank you for your help! Shaun Taylor-CorbettShauntcsong1 (talk) 14:55, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
Death of Elijah McClain article
In regards to your comments and changes to the Elijah McClain article on Wikipedia...
Firstly, the change I made to the 'Known For' section came directly from a quote made by the family in an article from the Sentinel Colorado that is highlighted in the Background section of the article. [1] It did have a direct citation, and, considering the positive nature of the comments, would not be considered libelous.
I understand and can agree with your point about Wikipedia presenting an encyclopedic account of the circumstances of Elijah McClain's death without sentimentality, especially given its social and historical importance. I still think, however, that no one should be recorded as being 'known for' the horrific circumstances of their death. The language matters. If I were a member of McClain's family, or had a family member killed in the way he was, and I saw him being represented on a popular website as being notable only because of the way he died, I'd be angry and think it disrespectful. Just because Wikipedia intends to be unsentimental in its presentation of information doesn't mean there aren't still emotions about the subject or that readers won't respond with emotion. One can be factual while still retaining respect for those who've died.
I think the issue here is that the page is written as a 'Infobox:Person' template, which doesn't allow for the options of including the facts of his death in the right-hand info box, like the pages of other recent racially motivated killings. Many others are listed as 'Shooting of...' or 'Killing of...' and provide that option.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Eric_Garner https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting_of_Philando_Castile https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting_of_Breonna_Taylor https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting_of_Trayvon_Martin https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Ahmaud_Arbery
So could his page be changed to list as one of those templates? I don't know how to do that. I've never made a change to a Wikipedia article until the one I made tonight to Elijah McClain's. Would you be able to do this? Or know someone who does?
If not, I suggest removing the 'known for' piece entirely, like on the page for George Floyd where it does not appear at all. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Floyd The article about McClain's death summarizes the most important information in the first sentence so a reader still has immediate access to it, and by removing the 'known for' piece, McClain's humanity is not reduced. That was my only intention in making my edit to McClain's page.
Thank you for considering my comments. Ceebird19 (talk) 03:18, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
