Dr Macnab New Faith

Hi Blarneytherinosaur,

Thanks for your comments and help. As you can guess I am new to editing and apologise if I have breached protocol. I'll try to be a fast learner. One question: would putting a list of books Dr Macnab has written be considered promotion? Do you mind if I call you BTR as it is easier to type out.

Thanks for the tip re the user boxes

Cheers Sdmc13 (talk) 07:04, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sdmc13,
BTR is fine. Mostly people just call me Blarney.
There's a whole bunch of stuff to get used to about editing here. I don't expect you to be on top of it from the get-go. (Frankly, I'm not up to speed on all of it myself).
A list of Dr Macnab's published works would be fine as far as I can see. Wikipedias recognises
"Good Articles"
and they're worth a browse if you're looking for examples of what we aim for. (If you scroll about 1/3 of the way down you should see the section for religious biographies.)
Blarneytherinosaur gabby? 23:34, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi BTR,

The Executive of St Michaels had one of its regular meetings last night and have asked if I can convey the following request:

That the picture and text regarding Scot's Church that is on the St Michaels and Francis Macnab entries be removed by you and we will remove the FM/ST M's material on the Scot's entry.

I have explained that Wiki is public domain and the entry is not owned by the particular entity referred to....

If this is not possible as an alternative could we have reference to the address of 5th October and the new 10 commandments first on the ST M and FM sites and then the response of Scot's session after it?

cheers Sdmc13 (talk) 05:28, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sdmc13,
Just as St. Michael's doesn't own it's article, neither do I own any of them. I think the best place to discuss this would be the talk page of the article about Francis Macnab. I'll copy your comments there and reply to them, seeking input from other editors too. Blarneytherinosaur gabby? 06:45, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A little research goes a long way. What exactly did they say about it? Timeshift (talk) 06:58, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

They were interviewing Judith Troeth and referred to Wikipedia as a sometimes inaccurate source. They asked Troeth if she thought she had a lyrical wit or whether she really ended her rebuttals by saying, "And that's the gospel Troeth!" All reasonably light-hearted. The Hill organ at St Andrew's

I was checking the pages on my watch list and noticed that you'd removed some piping from the organ. I knew an organ "restorer" who was wanted by Interpol. After he disappeared, it was discovered that he had quite a collection of organ pipes, some of them small ones from instruments pre-dating 1788, and very hard to identify the sources. He must have pinched a few every time he went abroad.

I'm keeping an eye on you from now on! ;-) Amandajm (talk) 05:49, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tulip Upright

Hello Blarney,

I design a website for an academy who teaches the dutch language. The Dutch Language Academy, short DLAc. In order to get a dutch feel I started searching for tulips, and I ended up finding your picture of a single upright tulip. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Tulip_single_upright.PNG And I was wondering if you would give me permission to use this picture as background image for the website.

With regards, Daan Leenders LDaanl (talk) 15:16, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dan,
As I noted on the page for File:Tulip_single_upright.PNG the picture is was made from an image by Ali K. The picture is licenced under the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows for it to be copied, distributed and/or modified. If this is not enough permission for you to use it, I don't feel that I can give that permission as I didn't create the original work. I suggest you read the licence and, if need be, consult Ali K. List of Presbyterian denominations

Hi Blarney, Have updated that

timeline. Now it contains a WHOLE lot more detail. Let me know what you think. I wonder if there is a better way of displaying such a graphic. I wonder too, if it is possible to link directly to the piccie, rather than the wikipedia commons page (too many clicks before you see the work up close. And as I created it, I noticed that there are a number of talking points - not sure where to put them. Wikipedia doesn't currently have the dates and information. I had to look up parliamentary hansards, and acts of parliament, and other places, to get the various pieces of information. Would it warrant a page of its own, or as the centrepiece of a page of its own, like: History of the Presbyterian Church in Australia? Just a few (crazy) thoughts. M1CH4EL (talk) 04:34, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply

Hi Blarney, And the next step might be to give some thought to the actual design of the graphic. Do some proper colour coding (with like-minded denominations, for example). Up until now, I have simply added lines and picked at random colours. Let me know what you think. It has been a fun project, and I don't mind playing around with it for a little longer. Good on you for deleting the personal testimony on the J. Douglas MacMillan page. I don't think I could bring myself to do it. Like I can't bring myself to propose St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Wingham for deletion... StAnselm (talk) 11:20, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

From the Editor

This month marks the observation of Pentecost, one of the most important feast of the Christian liturgical year. It is our hope here that all of you, regardless of your religious affiliation (if any), find that the holiday, and its accompanying activities, an enjoyable and beneficial experience. We also hope that this "Birthday of the Church" is one which gives you the same joy as the birthday of yourself or your loved ones.

Ichthus is the successor to the long running WikiProject Christianity newsletter, run under the WikiProject Christianity’s Outreach department. As such, you will continue to see information about our latest featured and good articles, DYKs, as well as new members who have joined our project. You might also see links to Christianity related news from the mainstream media!

As many of you might now, there are a large number of other Wikimedia Foundation projects, including WikiSource, Wiktionary, Wikibooks, WikiQuote, and others. I certainly believe that Wikibooks and Wikiquote might be among the more directly relevant sister projects. Spotlight on the Outreach department

Ichthus will spotlight a different subproject or workgroup of WikiProject Christianity. This edition will spotlight on our vital Outreach department. This comparatively small, but vital, project unit is dedicated to welcoming new editors to Wikipedia and the Christianity related content, and to providing information to the various project members, in forms like this newsletter.

The scope of articles with which this group deals is truly enormous, and, given the wide variety of material with which we deal, we would very much welcome the input of more individuals, particularly individuals who are particularly knowledgeable of the less well-known and less frequently monitored articles related to Christianity.

Speaking personally, I would be very, very gratified if we were to have this become a very, very large and active unit, with members from the broad spectrum of Christian beliefs, practices, and groups. The broader the spectrum and areas of expertise of members we have, the better we will be able to help manage the content. Please consider whether you believe you might be able to contribute in this vital area.

Golden Bay Air are holding some seats for us until 21 November

Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.

Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.

Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Wodonga TAFE Radio has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This page is an extremely specific topic. The radio station only existed for a brief period, and had little broader impact on related topics. There are also very few digital resources to support this article, and highly unlikely that any will appear in future. Because a page also does not exist for Wodonga TAFE then it does not make sense to have a stand-alone page for a radio station whose only notability is in relation to Wodonga TAFE. If it is proposed to retain some content in this article then it could be integrated into a new page for Wodonga TAFE.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be

deleted for any of several reasons
.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the
