Editing an article about yourself
There seems to be some indication that you are in fact
- The two problematical items you mentioned on my talk page aren't in the article anymore, so hopefully they are no longer an issue. As you know, it's pretty much impossible to keep inaccuracies out of an article; the best that can be hoped for is that they are promptly removed. (In that regard, I just removed a category, in the article, related to one of the two items you mentioned.)
- In general, negative information about a person if it lacks a WP:BLP. If you do need to remove such information in the future, and run into any resistance, please feel free to drop me a note; I'll be happy to help on that or anything else I can.
- As far as anything else, please note that I'm just another editor here. I do hope you find the policies above to reasonable. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 19:18, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
Just want to add to what John Broughton said--I'm really trying to work on getting this article NPOV, and the insertion of unrelated images and unsourced anecdotes are just making it harder (not to mention probably inviting more anonymous attack edits). I happen to think there is no need for this article at all; that it was tossed up as a blogosphere-directed hit, but as long as it's here I want to make it as fair as is possible. FYI, John Broughton is extremely fair and isn't part of the groups inserting weasel words and libelous statements. Seriously, take his advice. :) --Beth C. 20:59, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
Matt, first I think words such as 'escorts' are giving you the benefit of the doubt to begin with: maybe nothing more than a full-body massage happens in exchange for $300/hour. However, I find it strange that in articles you allegedly wrote and said "I'm not denying it" and "it happened over ten years ago" that you would turn around and now deny it completely, conveneniently as a "don't ask, don't tell" military investigation has opened up. For someone who has courted controversy, this about-face when the wind changes direction is quite stunning.→

Violations of policy
Please stop adding information to the article Matt Sanchez.
Per Wikipedia:Autobiography, It is difficult to write neutrally about yourself. Therefore, it is considered proper on Wikipedia to let others do the writing. Instead, contribute material or make suggestions on the article's talk page and let independent editors write it into the article itself.
In particular, unreferenced (and quite possibly unverifiable) statements such as these, which you added, are inappropriate:
- An autodidact, Sanchez has been able to both acquire several languages and pen articles in those languages
- Lovingly referred to as Refer Mechs, Marines claim the jack of all trades combat engineers have the most important job in the Corps: Keeping the beer
- Matt Sanchez was known for being especially muscular. His fellow Marines asked him to move a refrigeration unit without a crane. Rumor has it, that he did just that. There are also reports that his arms (19") did not fit well into his Marine camies and that the sleeves needed to be tailored to accommodate his girth.
Please let other editors evaluate what is appropriate to add to your article: It is impossible for you to have a

There's no neutrality here. The bloggers are breaking their own rules. I added a different interview with Kevin McCullough. You have not been at all neutral. The LGBT community wishes to publicly assassinate me, and you insist that I have no neutrality.
I suggest we post the longer, more thorough Kevin McCullough advertisement. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bluemarine (talk • contribs) 07:08, March 28, 2007

Matt,
Why do you insist on calling everyone a name ('jihadists,' 'these fags') that you don't agree with? First, I wouldn't be surprised if you were 'straight' but that would make you 'gay-for-pay' which means you performed gay acts for money...i.e. 'prostitution.' You said yourself that 'pornography is prostitution' which by YOUR definition makes you a (fill in the blank).
Notably, you call people 'faceless cowards' when in fact their faces appear online. Hmmm. You complain of bias but you break every rule to push an agenda which is itself biased, contorted, distorted, and totally unsupportable. I think you must be enjoying the attention. If so, keep it up.→
LGBT and some of the other homo bloggers have been extremely biased. I'm sure you've noticed their bias. Bluemarine 23:56, 26 March 2007 (UTC)Matt Sanchez

I see from your recent actions that you are unhappy with coverage about you on Wikipedia at Matt Sanchez. We take very seriously any comments from the subjects of articles that their content are untrue or not presented neutrally. Having looked at the article, I can see why you are concerned. I would like to discuss the contents of the article with you and the others involved so that a mutually agreed version can be reached. Int he meantime please do not edit war over the article.
I see you are keeping a draft of the article below, I am going to move it for you to User:Bluemarine/Sandbox, a dedicated page where you can edit it. This will allow this page to be used just for messages to you... WjBscribe 04:04, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Please join in the discussions at Talk:Matt Sanchez so we can agree a version that conveys the relevant information neutrally and that you feel is as fair to you as possible. Thank you. Vengeful nature
Matt is compiling a history of being vindictive and angry. His comments on articles he's edited including his own prove that. I think he should be banned from Wikipedia until he can contribute in a civil and respectful way. If this behavior continues I will go to the editors of Wikipedia to see what they can do. Fair warning.
All trolls are requested to sign their normally anonymous postings. Thank you Matt Sanchez 05:45, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
- I most likely disagree with much about Matt Sanchez' politics, but I think it is nonsense to try and ban him for editing an article about him. That would be Orwellian: we have made an article about you that includes what you think is derogatory information, and we are banning you from fixing it. The suggestions that he not edit the article himself but edit his sandbox version and ask others to place it in to the article are understandable, meant well, but also nonsense. Let's just make it difficult for the actual person to edit articles about themselves while making it easy for unidentified people and people we know nothing about to edit freely. 71.39.78.68 14:15, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Bjorn.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. Personal attacks
Please do not attack other editors, which you did here: Talk:Matt Sanchez. If you continue, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.
Throttle down the personal attacks. Regardless of your personal history with some of the other editors, calling them "screwed up fags" and "disgusting sodomites" is NOT acceptable. Another editor just came off of an involuntary wikibreak due to incivility; if you don't calm down, you'll be doing the same. Horologium t-c 01:45, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
- It's not the first time either. He personally attacked me too on several occasions. Aatombomb 03:58, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
Tone, avoiding personal attacks
You really need to watch your tone when contributing. I realise that you are under a lot of pressure (from one attack site in particular) and that the present content of your article here causes you stress, but you need to be careful in how you express yourself. Baiting other editors is not helpful... WjBscribe 05:09, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- And so we're utterly clear, however much you may feel provoked, attacks such as these- [1] and [2] on another editor are completely unacceptable. As is using derogatory terms about others' sexual orientation. Attacks of that nature in future, regardless of provocation, will result in your being blocked from editing Wikipedia for a period of time. WjBscribe 05:17, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
Image copyright problems
- Image:Dinkins.jpg has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it appears to be a copy of the official portrait. There is insufficient documentation of the source, and I assume you did not actually paint this portrait yourself, as the current license tag claims. -- Beland 09:57, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- Image:Lerner1.jpg has been listed for deletion because it is not used in any articles. User identifying as Blue Marine and Matt Sanchez
I don't have proof that you are or aren't Matt Sanchez but your pervasive and prolific posting on multiple topics are disruptive and that you are the subject of the article easily borders on violating WP protocols. Please read up on Wikipedia:Autobiography and Wikipedia:Disruptive editing. Please note: I'm not accusing you of either of these but I believe your voluminous comments on the talk pages fly in the face of the policies and do violate the spirit of cooperation needed to produce good articles.
- I suggest that you
1. "chill" and when you do repost keep it civil and productive. If another editor(s) are adding unverified statements or information supported only by blogosphere rumors it will be deleted. It might not happen immediately but there are a lot of folks watching the page so it should happen rather soon. 2. Focus instead on adding the material you think is missing and should be included. Providing the weblink directly to the source and it's easy enough for someone else to start to sort it out. 3. Work on some other articles. Biographies of living people are notoriously back and forth processes that take time. You may have noticed that I have yet to make a big edit on yours since I haven't had the time to read through everything that's already happened and I've been working on other articles. You can do the same, although you're a near-expert on yourself you could easily contribute to other articles just as well.
- It's kind of funny that you were editing the article for Scott Thomas Beauchamp under a pseudonym. You were intimately involved with the controversy, you have a clear opinion, and you were adding your own website as a reference. Because you used the name Bluemarine I did not realize what you were doing. Using blog references is not permitted, and it seems even more egregious that you were linking to your own blog. A headline by Bluemarine (you) states that the Omission of Matt Sanchez is astounding, but because you didn't want others to realize that you were promoting yourself, you used the third person. Next time you promote yourself on wikipedia (an obvious show of bias), perhaps you should know what you're getting into and not be so "astounded" when it's removed.Athene cunicularia13:53, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Please stop your personal attacks. They are unwarranted and violate WP policies. You have called me a "gay porn groupie" and "homosexual with an ax to grind" adding "There's nothing "balanced and neutral" about this guy." In addition you collectively called the article editors "catty gay men" and "sodomites." If you are unable to constructively and peacefully participate in the talk pages processes avoiding disruptive behavior and personal attacks then you should put your energies into other articles of interest to you.
Enough
Our policies against personal attacks are not optional. I am extremely loathed to prevent someone about whom we have an article from editing this website, but if you continue in these attacks you will leave me no choice. There is absolutely no need for you to comment on other contributors, your speculations about people's sexual orientation or pornographic preference are out of line. Consider this the last warning you will receive, another personal attack and you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia for a period of time - you can make representations about your article via email if that happens. WjBscribe 21:17, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
- I concur with WJBscribe. On the one hand, I very much want Sanchez to be able to continue to participate at the talkpage of his own bio. On the other, Sanchez has engaged in multiple personal attacks and sexual slurs. Numerous requests, both on- and off-wiki, have been made to Sanchez to cease with this behavior, and yet he continues. If it happens again, I would support a block. --Elonka 21:42, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

You may have noticed my edits to the talk page of the article about you. As a Wikipedia administrator my personal background has no bearing upon my sysop decisions; I made the following disclosures to avoid any appearance of impropriety:
- I am a Columbia University graduate.
- I am a United States Navy veteran.
You can Google my username pretty quickly and learn enough to confirm with the alumni office (CC '90). Here at Wikipedia we aim to help new users adjust to site standards. You've gotten off on the wrong foot and perhaps dialog will help. I can be reached through the following link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Emailuser/Durova
Bear in mind that there's nothing partisan about this offer. I just happen to have walked a few (nautical) miles in the similar moccasins and I hope there's a friendly way to straighten things out. I'll probably recuse myself from actual use of sysop tools regarding this conflict, but I may request review and intervention by uninvolved administrators if that becomes necessary. My hope is that perhaps that won't be necessary and the parties can settle the issues amicably. DurovaCharge! 01:05, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to
It's More Complicated Than You Think
Hi Matt,
Yes I realize that controversy for you drives book sales. Great. "Taliban of Tolerance." I couldn't care less, so long as the other side gets equal time to share their views.
Just for your information...I'm a Republican who voted for Bush...three times (1992, 2000, 2004). What I care about is factual accuracy. I admired you at first for admitting the truth...because until we can admit the truth, we cannot be free. However, I see that after the forces that be (i.e. the military's 'don't ask, don't tell' policy) came around---forces that favor the telling of lies, forces that expect Larry Craig to remain in anonymous public restrooms, well then the story line changed. I am an historian and there's nothing worse to an historian to re-write history to make it less honest in order to pander to certain groups...right, left, or anywhere in between.
And no, I never bought any of your videos. Sorry! Ryoung122 09:01, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
I wrote the Taliban of Tolerance because it's true, not controversial. Matt Sanchez (talk) 22:38, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
Indefinite block
Per Wikipedia:No legal threats for this edit. DurovaCharge! 03:42, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- Is it clear from that edit that he is making a legal threat to a user? If its clear based on other information, then Bluemarine isn't his only username. Talk14:26, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- I'll put that on Matt's shoulders to clarify. And if it was directed at another editor, I'll also lift this block if he withdraws it. Site policy is strict in this respect, but the situation is easy to rectify. And BTW Bluemarine isn't his only username. But that's neither here nor there. DurovaCharge! 14:40, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
To request unblocking:

I'm not sure what part of my edit was a legal threat, please advise.Matt Sanchez 14:07, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Your very short post wrote, Pending legal action. The context was unclear. Policy takes a very hard line if, for example, that was a threat to initiate legal action against Wikipedia or another editor. If, on the other hand, you intend to pursue legal action against some news source used for this article, then the usual venue for getting related material removed from the page would be to file an biographies of living persons noticeboard. The article also falls within the scope of five different WikiProjects (linked from the top of the talk page). You could contact them and ask for assistance watchlisting the page. Basically all I ask in order to lift tihs block is either clarification that this wasn't a legal threat or a withdrawal of the statement if it was. If you actually pursue legal action that's your own business of course; please don't discuss it onsite. DurovaCharge!14:40, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi
Talk pages are meant for discussion about the article, not as a place for general things and issues, just a heads up. Samuell (talk) 22:54, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
The article is a current article. You didn't mention "general things and issues"? you mentioned "insults" What are you talking about? and why are you threatening me with blocking?
My comments have noting to do with your blocking. I was only aware you had been blocked after you were unblocked, I never said anything about insults. I am not theartening you with blocking, just warning, I used this template {{subst:uw-chat3}}. Samuell ([[User_talk:Samuell|Lift me up or put me down]]) (talk) 23:41, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
I was sending you a warning about doing what you did, maybe I should have used I milder template. Maybe could could say I was threatening you (though not in the personal threats manner, because I didn't threaten you with harm), I see it more as telling you that blocking is a possibility for this offense (while it is minor, it can be a annoyance and can be considered vandalism if a user has been warned before). I asked you to stop, it appears you did, you would only have been blocked if you had continued to do so. As far as I can see the issue is close. Thank you. Samuell (Lift me up or put me down) 00:47, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Samuell - the article in question has a section titled "Articles / opinion pieces". Bluemarine was adding an article he published on the talk page so that admins (who can edit the article) might consider it for inclusion within this already established list. Unlike your warning on this talk page, the link and summary are fully appropriate under the circumstances. Please be more careful in the future. Rklawton (talk) 01:06, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
I don't think Samuell knows what he was doing, beside trying to censure me in some way. Even then, I'm not even sure over what he's concerned because he refuses to state it. Matt Sanchez (talk) 21:37, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Fob Falcon
Hey man, how long were you at Falcon? I was there as a Psyop team member for 2-506 and 2-12 in Dora, for a year I just got back in april. I was there for the AHA incident. Good work on that Baghdad diarist douchebag!--70.139.8.255 (talk) 05:50, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
I got to know Dora pretty well too. When I first got there, if you went out on a six hour patrol you would find at least 2 bodies. My team's record for most bodies found in a patrol was 9. When I left we didn't find bodies on patrols that much. It was a huge improvement. Dora market was coming back and people were starting to come back from exile. It's funny, when I got there Dora was known as a "mixed area", Sunnis, Shittes, Christians, but most of the time I was there it was only Sunnis I met. It is so great to be back in the states and hear about the area getting better.
Falcon was accually a pretty laid back Fob while I was there, but just before I left 4th brigade moved there and the whole vibe of th Fob changed to one of high stress. It was no diffrent from being at Fob Liberty.--70.139.8.255 (talk) 08:04, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to
Italics
Instead of using the italics HTML tag (<i>), use a pair of single quotes to begin italics ('') and another pair to end the italics. If you insist on using the HTML, please use a close tag (</i>) to end the italics, otherwise you end up italicizing everything on the page from that point on, which is just as annoying as the overuse of boldface I just used. I hate having to edit someone else's comments because of careless formatting, and I've had to do it several times in the past few days. If you want to italicize your signature, do it in your preferences. Horologium t-c 18:49, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
WP:CIVIL
Here's the deal. We've got a policy regarding civil behavior here. You've gotten away with a lot more incivility than most administrators are willing to put up with, and your edits are becoming counterproductive. If you wish to make recommendations for changes to your article, please feel free. However, if you are going to use your article's talk page for a platform to attack other editors - or anyone else for that matter, I will not hesitate to block your account from editing. Conversely, I will make similar warnings to other editors and hold them to the same standard. However, this is not an invitation for you to complain about other editor's comments. Leave that to me and other administrators to sort out. Instead, I wish to encourage you to focus on making meaningful and useful recommendations regarding the content of your article. Jmark, you have credibility issues. You've made no attempts at re-writes, you're obviously hostile, and just a little too motivated to gratuitously smear me. You should be banned from contributing given your uncivil, unprofessional and unhelpful "insight"
