Blogs
Blogs are allowed under specific, narrow circumstances. The prohibition derives from the general ban on self-published sources. One exception to the SPS ban covers writings of acknowledged experts, but that doesn't apply when writing about living people so it'd only applicable to dead politicians. Blog can be used in articles about the bloggers themselves, but they don't establish the bloggers' notability. The relevant policy is
- I suppose the logic is that we have to draw the line somewhere, and blogs fall on the wrong side of that line. I'm no sure what the right answer is regarding minor candidates. I'd be surprised if blogs are the only place they're mentioned. If they make an announcement on their own blog then we can use that for a source, though it can't be used to establish notability. Will Beback talk 18:19, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- "This early in the cycle"? What's the rush? Wikipedia isn't a voter guide. Minor canddiates are almost always included in the final vote counts, so if need be we can wait until after the election to mention them. Will Beback talk 18:40, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
John Jacobson Party: Democrat Residence: Weed Age: 51 Occupation: Educator, businessman, composer Education: Master's degree in liberal studies, Georgetown University, 1989; bachelor's degree in music, University of Wisconsin, 1979 Experience: Founder and volunteer president, America Sings!, children's service nonprofit, 1989-present; founder and CEO, John Jacobson Productions (seminar leader and motivational speaker), 1984-present; writer and composer, author, 1983-present Contact Information: JohnJacobsonforCongress.com
Immigration: Supports deal with underlying labor and unemployment problems on both sides of the border. Through a foreign policy surge, would work with Mexico to solve economic problems that lead to illegal immigration. Would bring immigrant community leaders, farmers and other employers, unions and government together to find solution to illegal immigrants currently here.
Iraq war: Supports withdrawing all troops within a year except for a small force -- less than 10,000 -- to protect the embassy and humanitarian workers. Supports immediate diplomatic surge involving the international community and regional interests to help curb sectarian violence.
Environment: Supports increasing government incentives for developing new technologies, creating a green economy that will generate jobs and renew our standing in the world. Through a new energy transmission plan on a scale of the Rural Electrification Act of 1936, would build infrastructure needed to carry alternative energies from rural generation sites to the power grid.
Gas prices: Says gas prices reflect what's happening with the weakening dollar. Says Congress must support the dollar with measures including getting out of an expensive war in Iraq. Says he would eliminate oil company zoned pricing, which raises the price of gas by 30 cents or more a gallon in rural communities.
Credit crisis: Supports requiring lenders to work with borrowers to develop individualized solutions to keep families in their homes. Would authorize Federal Housing Administration to guarantee restructured loans. Would provide pathways for communities to buy foreclosures for rehab and resale through block grant programs with controls to curb speculation and price inflation. Would penalize reckless fraudulent lenders.
— 2nd Congressional District; VOTERS GUIDE / PRIMARY 2008 -- U.S. CONGRESS Anonymous. The Sacramento Bee. Sacramento, Calif.: May 18, 2008. pg. 2
District 2 -- Democrats Jeff Morris 34.7% A.J. Sekhon 34.2% John Jacobson 31.1% 562 of 573 precincts
The decision: With 90 percent of the votes counted, Sekhon and Morris were locked in a tight race.
The race: Trinity County Supervisor Morris had the political credentials but not the star power of rival entertainment chieftain Jacobson in the three-way contest also featuring Sekhon, the 2006 Democratic nominee. Morris, who lives in Weaverville, had more endorsements from local politicians. Jacobson, with a long history in entertainment and music, runs the wholesome nonprofit America Sings! from his Weed ranch and excelled at energizing crowds. Sekhon, a Yuba City doctor, didn't campaign.
— Contested local U.S. House races; PRIMARY 2008 / CONGRESS, CALIFORNIA Anonymous. The Sacramento Bee. Sacramento, Calif.: Jun 4, 2008. pg. A.3
But as a general principle, candidates in primaries for the House of Representatives are numerous, and many of them probably aren't worth mentioning, except to perhaps include their names in some list of candidates. In the case of Jacobson, his career as a candidate only lasted a few months. Will Beback talk 19:49, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

The difference between the two is that Mr. Lander, in my opinion, established notability outside the political arena, (i.e. other than running for office). Hey
For the last few months my schedule has been a bit full, but it looks like I may have some time free for a little while at least. I'll see what I can do with the three pages. Hope you have a good vacation! CylonCAG (talk) 15:28, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

CA-18 and KS-3
Cook rates both as only likely Democratic, while Sabato also rates KS-3 as likely. When I removed them no one rated them as anything but safe. CylonCAG (talk) 19:15, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
Would you consider redirecting this article to History of Cuba right now?
Instead of having to wait 7 days, I can close the Afd right now, and only a redirect will remain.
Please let me know as soon as possible, because as soon as someone else comments on the AfD, they must agree also before I can redirect the article and close the AFD.
Thanks for the help with my adoptee!

Re:2010 House race ratings
Thanks for your comment, and praise. When it comes to 10 edits to just 1 edit is right. The thing was with Rothenberg, I had to keep looking back and forth. Normally, I would just do 1. Thanks for your comment and interest in politics. =) America69 (talk) 18:30, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

2010 elections
Hey. I put the competitive election summeries in a seperate article to make it easier for casual readers, and not to mention that the races by state section had a lot of material. The only thing I did was copy and paste. But I also have other material on the page that deals with the swing districts of the past two election cycles. So, I hope to eventually merge the two sections together, having the race rating, summery (which you made), and the results of the past two election cycles. Doing this, we will give readers a full analysis of the 2010 elections.--Jerzeykydd (talk) 02:30, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
