I remember making an edit request on 2024 Iran–Israel conflict and I didn't edit the article directly. Does that contribute to what you mean? I need clarification so I don't mess around again. We learn the mysterious ways of WP as we go along. Another thing. When using a ref several times in an article, use

WP:REFNAME, see for example my edit here:[2]. If the ref has a name, it's easy to use again and again, you can find a list of the articles named refs in both source editor or visual editor.
