Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to the

contentious
. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have

Ctopics/aware
}} template.

Hello @ScottishFinnishRadish, can you please point out specially where such edit because I can't recall. I remember making an edit request on 2024 Iran–Israel conflict and I didn't edit the article directly. Does that contribute to what you mean? I need clarification so I don't mess around again. Thank you. Caleb Ndu (talk) 16:27, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
All edits, including talk page edits, are covered by the CTOP procedures. I was just letting you know the rules are a bit different in this topic area. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 16:35, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Your vote in the move discussion is not allowed per the CTOP procedures outlined above. Philipnelson99 (talk) 16:59, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Philipnelson99 That's quite understood. I have no problems with that. I will keep contributing my best. Caleb Ndu (talk) 19:33, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Adding refs

When you do that, please do better than

WP:TUTORIAL. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:35, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply

Thanks for your mentorship. I am learning every day and I appreciate your help. I will keep on to improve in contribution. Caleb Ndu (talk) 19:02, 19 April 2024 (UTC) Caleb Ndu (talk) 19:02, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We learn the mysterious ways of WP as we go along. Another thing. When using a ref several times in an article, use
WP:REFNAME, see for example my edit here:[2]. If the ref has a name, it's easy to use again and again, you can find a list of the articles named refs in both source editor or visual editor. This way a ref will also only show up in the ref section once, which reduces clutter. Hope this helps some. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:16, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply

You have been very helpful. I appreciate your engagement with me. Now, I have a lot of stuff to recite for the week. Caleb Ndu (talk) 21:03, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on

section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion
, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Nomination of Democratic Republic of the Yoruba for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Democratic Republic of the Yoruba is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Democratic Republic of the Yoruba until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article until the discussion has finished.

What just happened? I can't edit again. It says my IP address has been blocked. How? @Bbb23 Caleb Ndu (talk) 13:06, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I was blocked by an Administrator citing sockpupet of another account. I wish to let editors know that I am an independent editor who has faced IP range issues in the past I haven't abused Wikipedia in any way. I apply for the block to be reviewed Caleb Ndu (talk) 00:29, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

This block is not based on your IP range issues but in your editing behaviour.Yamla (talk) 11:55, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Ok,that's understandable and I have realized my mistake. I wish to be unblocked to correct my mistakes. Caleb Ndu (talk) 13:09, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
