Ancient History - Barbarosa, Suleiman, Invasion of Malta, etc.
Good morning Catalan: I am a new Wiki member and am looking for a mentor. I am also involved in writing a novel set in the AD 312-337 time period. My interest in editing on Wikipedia arose yesterday when I tried to get information concerning "galley slaves" and was shocked to find so little about them. Under that category only Greek and Roman galley slaves from the 1500's forward are discussed. And their lives are pictured as tea parties compared to a book on the subject, Empires of the Sea, Siege of Malta, Battle of Lepanto, and the Contest for the Center of the World by Roger Crowley. 2008
So, my interest, (by the way, I am a retired person) is Ancient History. Aside from this gap in Wikipedia's data base, I figure I can contribute additional bits and pieces of world history,as I come across the data and be of service to you. I have no agenda, other than insuring that subject matter from an historical viewpoint is comprehensive.
I would be interested in talking to you about this. --Actxiom101 (talk) 15:44, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

WikiProject Economics census
Hello there. Sorry to bother you, but you are (titularly at least) a member of WP:WikiProject Economics, as defined by this category. If you don't know me, I'm a Wikipedia administrator, but an unqualified economist. I enjoy writing about economics, but I'm not very good at it, which is why I would like to support in any way I can the strong body of economists here on Wikipedia. I'm only bothering you because you are probably one of them. Together, I'd like us to establish the future direction of WikiProject Economics, but first, we need to know who we've got to help.
Whatever your area of expertise or level of qualification, if you're interested in helping with the WikiProject (even if only as part of a larger commitment to this wonderful online encyclopedia of ours), would you mind adding your signature to this page? It only takes a second. Thank you.
Message delivered on behalf of User:Jarry1250 by LivingBot.
- Firstly, thank you for signing the census, and an apology if you are one of those editors who dislike posts such as this one for messaging you again in this way. I've now got myself organised and you can opt-out of any future communication at WP:WikiProject Economics/Newsletter. Just remove your name and you won't be bothered again.
- Secondly, and most importantly, I would like to invite your comments on the census talk page about the project as a whole. I've given my own personal opinion on a range of topics, but my babbling is essentially worthless without your thoughts - I can't believe for one moment that everyone agrees with me in the slightest! :)

Cantillon
Hey Mac, long time no see. I tried to look over the article, but to be honest it's somewhat far outside my safety zone of MILHIST. The biography stuff was fine, but I just started glazing over with the economic theory doodahs as I don't really understand a word of economic theory. However, economics aside, it looks like a polished and well-researched article, so I can't see it having any problems. If you do ever decide to do some more MILHIST work, ping me if you need a review or some copy-editing. I'm not hugely active, but I'll make sure to spare some time. Skinny87 (talk) 06:17, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
Welcome back
Been a long time Mr. Catalan. It's good to have you back.
Also, I'm gradually reading my way through a lot of your articles both at Mises and Economic Thought. You clearly know your stuff, though I am finding myself disagreeing with large chunks of it (which I suspect is mostly due to ideological differences. Socialists and Libertarians don't tend to see domestic economic policy along the same lines...). Irregardless, welcome back to the 'Pedia. Cam (Chat)(Prof) 03:16, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
- Things are good on my end. I've just started into my first year of a double major in Global Politics and History at Carleton University, which is great fun, but lots of reading, writing, more reading, more writing, and even more reading etc etc. I'll be around the wiki as much as time allows. M22 LocustNot a huge amount to be honest, as all the info is in there that I can find. It just needs a good copy-edit to make sure it passes FAC criteria for that. Might have to check all the references have the i's dotted and the t's crossed. But at the moment I really don't feel upto doing an FA; I'm trying to get back into wiki, but FAC is a harsh business at the best of times. Skinny87 (talk) 08:08, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

I'm so sorry! i'm a rather new editor and didn't thought that that wikibreak talked about in the last review was a permanent one. My sincere apologies. I was going to re-nominate it, but i barely did any work on it at all (just the niggles mentioned in the review) so i was apprehensible about it. I think it would be best that you re-nominate it as early as possible and if the reviewers detect any issues i could pitch in in fixing them.
