Women in Red
Hi there, Cpfffr, and welcome to Women in Red. I see you have been editing on and off for almost a year but if you still feel you need more background in editing, I recommend The Wikipedia Advrnture. It's good to see you are attached to the museums sector and hope to create more women's biographies. In this connection, you might find it useful to look through our Ten Simple Rules. As for editathons, there are some guidelines at Wikipedia:How to run an edit-a-thon. If you need any further help, I suggest you contact Rosietrep on her talk page. Please let me know if you run into any difficulties or need assistance. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 09:08, 9 January 2020 (UTC)
- @Ipigott: The Wikipedia Adventure is adorable and the Ten Simple Rules are great—thank you for alerting me to those! I'll keep you and Rosie in mind as questions come up. Thanks again! Cpfffr (talk) 21:47, 13 January 2020 (UTC)

Women in Craft
Hello there Cpfffr! I hope you are doing well and I am looking forward to participating in the BMC Virtual edit-a-thon next week! I have been thinking of a way to centralize all of the information and users who are working on improving the representation of craftswomen on wiki. I notice your list for the edit-a-thon is on your user page, ours for our event here in Minneapolis is on google spreadsheet. I am considering starting a task force page under the WikiProject Women Artists. Would you be interested in being part of a craftswomen task force? I am thinking it will just be a simple page with a scope of improving the representation of craft and craftswomen on Wikipedia, an area for interested participants to sign up, and a to-do list including sections of red links, stubs, and good articles. We have about 5 editors here in Minnesota that are in support of a task force but I want to make sure there is enough outside interest that this makes sense to create. Let me know what you think! Terasaface (talk) 16:08, 21 March 2020 (UTC)
Alternatively, we could continue using the list of redlinks at Women in Red / Crafts and set up a Women in Red worklist to link articles in need of improvement - such as NYC Artists.
Terasaface (talk) 17:57, 21 March 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Terasaface! If you decide to start the task force I'd be happy to be part of it! I should note that the list on my userpage is not primarily craftswomen (and some of the redlinks may not even be suitable for new articles per notability guidelines) but regardless, yes, happy to help add to lists & support however possible! Women in Red 8th Anniversary |
In July 2015 around 15.5% of the English Wikipedia's biographies were about women. As of July 2023, 19.61% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women. That's a lot of biographies created in the effort to close the gender gap. Happy 8th Anniversary! Join us for some virtual cake and add comments or memories and please keep on editing to close the gap! |
