I am sorry if I have not done things correctly, probably not a good excuse after all this time as a contributor to English hockey pages, but I do not know the procedures for deletions. I am not sure why Duncan Scott (field hockey) is being selected for possible deletion. All of the li9nks, to the FIH, England Hockey & BBC show this is a valid page. Sorry, I do not have lots of time to learn the procedures, etc of wikipedia. I have always understood it to be a free source of information. Unfortunately, England Hockey are not good with the information they provide for our wonderful minority sport of field hockey. Please forgive my ignorance. I simply try to give accurate information for anyone interested in the England & GB Mens & Womens hockey teams and the clubs in the Premier Leagues. It was very annoying when I created Old Georgians Hockey Club a few years back and Wikipedia "gurus" deleted it! They are now the leading men's team in England! As websites, including wikipedia, become less interesting and less viewed by younger people I do wonder if it is worth me spending time updating the pages. There are other contributors from Europe who basically take all the information from the FIH website & copy it into wikepedia. It is not as concise as the information which I have access to, and the contacts which I have in England, with regard to players and clubs. Thanks. DJCOTTS (talk) 16:35, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there. The basic notability guidelines for biographies (
WP:BIO) says that people are presumed notable "if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject." This is what all biographies must abide by or they run the risk of being deleted. While unfortunate, I imagine that many international field hockey players, though important to the sport, do not meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Thank you for your contributions; your passion for the sport does not go unnoticed. JTtheOG (talk) 02:09, 26 March 2022 (UTC)[reply
