{{helpme}} The picture referred to above is of a long-deceased footballer. Judging by his age in the photo, it was probably taken before 1900, and the photographer is presumably unknown. The photo appears to be the only none available for the subject as it appears on several other websites and is used as part of a book-cover illustration. The opening paragraph should feature an overview of all his life. Your edits buried several of the key facts of his life and death, e.g. his early death, his heavy drinking and his status as a player at the bottom of the page. It is common practice for articles to feature on overview and then expand on the highlights with further sections. That way it encourages readers to read further. I've got most of the list sorted in terms of names and debut dates, just need to wikify it and add in the flags - and then think about a good way of referencing it. Doing it offline (particularly as broadband down at home at moment), so would probably be best to wait till I upload most of what else I've done. Hi - I see that you have reverted my edits to the style in which the seasons are shown both in the text and in the table from the style 1983-84 to 1983-1984. I take your point that the MoS is more or less silent on this matter, although there seems to be a general concensus that 1983-84 is preferable. You could try

substing the templates by adding subst: just after the opening {{; this reduces the server load and therefore the problem due to template limits. (It makes the articles less readable though.) This might reduce the template limits enough for the article to work. --ais523 10:47, 28 June 2007 (UTC

was going to get in touch, thanks for adding categories, pin-pointing location on map (how do you do that?) and tour de France stuff. Hopefully this article will prove useful as the Tour rolls into town. looked-up ballades de cavalles and can't find much that's useful. ballades doesn't appear to be in the dictionary though it was the title of a French film in 1983 [2]! One thing I just realized was the possibility of subst: the #switch, thereby eliminating all of that crazy text, but I don't know how that would work in a real situation, nor if it'd work in a template or not. I have fixed the width of the template... I just don't know how many caretaker managers the Saints have, since I am just a poor Sunderland fans, so I don't add many... (if you have the list, I dont' mind adding them), just like Sunderland and Leeds...

The suspiciously named User:Wallace40 keeps adding in claims that a Southampton youth player called Ryan Wallace is on loan to Salibsury City. I noticed the Walter Scott as well, but think it might be someone different (and that maybe Walter Scott didn't play for South Shields really). Hi, I was wondering what reason you had for changing "Honours" sections to "Honours won"? The layout of the articles followed Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Players which just has "Honours". Also, it seems a bit excessive to me adding a sub-section "As a player", even when there are only a couple of lines, as diff for example. Just as for paragraphs, any sections and subsections that are very short will make the article look cluttered and inhibit the flow. The Brown article is quite short, too short really even for the number of headings (5) left in there, e.g. for context the Broughton quote obviously has to be in the Broughton para, but what it illustrates is the man's personality.

Scarborough - in 1963 he was definitely player-manager, 1964 probably still playing, I'll try and look it up. And the Broughton honours mentioned in the article should go in. Have you seen this BBC article? I'm pretty certain they used the Wikipedia article for their research. I've noticed it a couple of times before, only rarely though. The style of BBC articles tends to put some background details after the meat of the story, and once or twice some of that bit has seemed familiar, not plagiarised by any means, but you could tell where it was from. I think one of them was a story about the City of Manchester Stadium (which I was intimately familiar with the content of through getting it to FA), though to be fair our article is probably the most comprehensive about the ground available online. Nice to know our work is appreciated! Mettomo was solid enough from what I remember. He played on the right of a back three in a wingback system. Keegan fell out with him after he arrived back late from the African Nations Cup (ought to find a cite for that and put it in the article), and he rarely played after that. I'm not sure your latest edits fit in with what is recommended (see

WP:MOSDAB.) my reading of this is that the original disambiguation page (Woolston (disambiguation) should be used as the target for a redirection, and not the other way round. In doing what you have done, you have also potentially destroyed the ease with which the editing history of the disambiguation link can be found, which is definitely to be avoided if possible.
