2023 Livepool City Council Elections

First of all, I apologise if I'm not following appropriate protocols, but I am trying to be positive concerning your edit of '2023 Liverpool City Council Election' of 30th May 2023 tagged as "removed inappropriate piped links that don't give any insight to the candidates". I contend that these links do give insight into the candidates in that they enable simple, single click access to discover the previous election which that candidate stood, enabling a quick and simple way of tracing that person's complete electoral history. I appreciate that such links could go backward or forward in time. The reason I chose to do this going backwards, rather than forwards is that it is more predictable going forward in time for someone has been elected to when they will next stand for reelection. It is also easier to track for someone who has been initially elected at a by election. Your opinion on this would be welcomed. I hope we can reach a consensus on this.

@
Linking too many items should generally be avoided because it distracts the reader from the links that would actually be insightful, and I think there are better ways to give context than to link candidates' names, which gives them more attention in the article than they probably deserve. Candidates' previous results (especially ones who weren't elected) aren't very important, and I think indicating whether a candidate is the incumbent is enough context.  dummelaksen  (talkcontribs) 11:33, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply

Why is Andtheconductoris.eu not a reliable source?

The site has detailed interviews with a number of the conductors and info about conductors and arrangers that are verified on plenty of other websites. Heck, the information about who conducted what is verified just as easily by watching the contests themselves and seeing the conductors acknowledged. Is it the info about nationalities? Other than that, I don't see the issue with including it as a source, especially since plenty of other pages use it as a resource. --BugsFan17 (talk) 14:31, 19 January 2021 (UTC) @BugsFan17[reply]

Belarus at the Jumior Eurovision Song Contest 2019

Hi, if you care so much about date formats, why didn't you fix the pre-existing mixture of dmy and mdy? For example, "The national final took place on September 20, 2019.", and the top line of the table. That's what I first saw, and the rules say that where there's a mixture, fix it as you like (for non-anglophone-country-related articles). That said, my personal pref. is for dmy. Tony (talk) 03:06, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Tony1: Thanks for pointing it out, I'll fix it now.  dummelaksen  (talkcontribs) 03:09, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Navigation

Hallo, Thank you for creating Camden Town (ward) etc. When you create an article like this with a "disambiguated" title, please make sure that the reader can find it from the basic name (ie Camden Town), by adding or expanding a hatnote, or adding the article to a disambiguation page. This helps the reader to find your article, and also reduces the chance of a future careless editor creating a duplicate article with a slightly different disambiguator. I've fixed this one. Thanks, and Happy Editing. PamD 17:05, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That's my standard boilerplate message. I see you've created a whole lot of " ... (ward)" articles recently: Frognal (ward) is already on Frognal (disambiguation) ... ah, I see you added it (I thought it might have been there from the "former" ward) ..., but South Hampstead doesn't lead to the ward, and I haven't checked further. Please go through and check that they're all accessible from the undisambiguated name, whether by a hatnote or a dab page. Thanks. PamD 17:05, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@PamD: thank you for the reminder, I've done them all.  dummelaksen  (talkcontribs) 07:05, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wards again

I note that Frognal (ward) has Category:1978 establishments in England (and matching disestablishment). It would be reasonable to create Category:2022 establishments in England and add it to your wards - Category:2022 establishments in Scotland and a few other countries already exist, so it would be consistent to create the new cat. Camden candidates

Hello! I noticed you added some sourced candidates to 2022 Camden London Borough Council election—limiting to RS candidates and using standard tables is a big improvement on the empty tables that have been there previously, but I'm not wholly convinced of the value of incomplete candidate lists when there are only ten days until SOPNs will to be published. It feels to me like it might be better to hide the section, so that work can be saved adding the full candidate lists, but also so readers don't find an incomplete and slightly random list of candidates. On some other council election articles I've included some candidates in the campaign section prose where they have an RS article dedicated to their candidacy, which could be a useful way of respecting due weight for candidates who have more coverage, like some of the ones you've included in Camden? Let me know what you think! Ralbegen (talk) 21:41, 27 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Ralbegen: Hi! Thanks for your input, I do agree that adding the provisional candidates does run the risk of readers thinking the lists are complete when they're not. I won't object if you think it's best to wait especially since the publishing date is so soon. But I was willing to put the work in anyway so I boldly added them.  dummelaksen  (talkcontribs) 21:55, 27 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've hidden them for now, thanks for understanding where I'm coming from! Ralbegen (talk) 09:25, 28 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The SOPNs are up today! I've started putting candidates into London borough election articles. I don't know if you'd like to fill them in for Camden? Ralbegen (talk) 17:45, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for letting me know! Will do.  dummelaksen  (talkcontribs) 18:04, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Colour removal

Removal of the Green Party of England and Wales from

Opinion polling for the next United Kingdom general election#Seat predictions. After the revert this now works. After your edit it was showing as white instead of green. Helper201 (talk) 17:07, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply

@Helper201: I've fixed it now. They should all use the Green Party of England and Wales colour, not the Green Party of England and Wales (2023) variant which I removed because of these reasons.  dummelaksen  (talkcontribs) 17:30, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Dummelaksen there seems to be another issue that might be related to this or something similar. The navbox at the bottom of the page Green Party of England and Wales (above "Links to related articles") is showing in white instead of green and is virtually unreadable. Could you fix this please? Helper201 (talk) 22:43, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Helper201: Thanks for pointing this out, I've fixed it now. If there are more errors like this, then the source code that uses the colour "Green Party of England and Wales (2023)" should be replaced with "Green Party of England and Wales" (see my edit.)  dummelaksen  (talkcontribs) 23:13, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

German words and phrases‎

In Category:Words and phrases by language, it looks like vast majority of entries are not about "words and phrases". Meaning that the community thinks differently. Please stop removing items from categories and seek consensus. - Altenmann >talk 19:27, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Altenmann: Most of the language subcategories (including Category:German words and phrases) have a hatnote explaining that the category is only for articles about words themselves. If other articles are in that category, then that is a mistake. As it so happens, I don't think it's true that the vast majority of the entries are not about words and phrases. The German category is just an outlier for having so many misplaced entries.  dummelaksen  (talkcontribs) 19:35, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
