Guidelines/Rules

This is my talkpage, so I would like to set down a few general rules and guidelines. Mainly, it would be great if all could try to use correct grammar and spelling unless inventing a new word or something. Actually, that's all for now … By the way, I guess I should sign here, but there is no reason to link to my own talkpage here, so I won't.

Elium2, I just wanted to let you know that you can continue to keep track of pages in your userspace using the Special:PrefixIndex function; for example, Special:PrefixIndex/User:Elium2. Cheers, –BLACK FALCON (TALK) 05:56, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Black Falcon. Is it really necessary for me to sign? Elium2 (talk) 19:02, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. To sign what? –BLACK FALCON (TALK) 00:43, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
My post. Elium2 (talk) 22:02, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, essentially. It's not a problem if you occasionally forget to sign, but it is good practice (see Wikipedia:Signatures) to sign your posts so that other editors can easily identify with whom they are conversing. Cheers, –BLACK FALCON (TALK) 02:11, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Userboxes

Am I allowed to post userboxes describing me, but not made by me (currently at User:Elium2/Userboxes_Describing_User_Elium2), directly on my userpage? If not, is there some way to quickly copy the categories the userboxes put me, as a user, in? Thanks for any answers. User:Elium2 13:14, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I fail to see why you couldn't. There are many wikipedians who have userboxes not made by them on their userpages (including me!). I have actually read all your userboxes on that said page, and personally, I would keep it seperate for the fun of seeing who reads them all. Anyway, hope this helps. WP:CP
listing- Not seeing vio

I'm looking at the article in earwig, and I see no violation. Am I missing something? Thanks,

Help out at CCI! 20:06, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply

You are missing something, yeah. It looks like Earwig isn't properly pulling the text from its viewer. If you go to the Heritage link directly and look at the paragraph beginning “The Executive Vesting Clause's general rule…”, the entire paragraph from “is subject to two important limitations” on appears on the Wikipedia page. There's a fair bit of non-copied text between “under the Articles” and “Second, specific constitutional provisions…” on the Wikipedia page, which was added after the original act of copying. Elium2 (talk) 23:22, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I think I removed all of it in this edit, was that it?
Help out at CCI! 01:14, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply
]
That's all of it, as far as I'm aware, but removing it disrupts the flow of the non-copied parts. It works out okay with the second copied chunk, but not so much with the first. To deal with this, I added a line saying: “Article I grants certain powers to Congress, and the Vesting Clause does not reassign those powers to the President.” I think that deals with the copyright issue. Elium2 (talk) 03:05, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Good then- this particular vio was pretty nasty, I'm honestly not even sure how you found it. Thanks for your assistance,
Help out at CCI! 03:10, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply
]
Neither am I, actually. I think the tone struck me as a bit off, and when I saw the Heritage source linked, I figured I'd take a look for neutrality reasons, since they're a conservative think tank. Instead (well, maybe in addition) I found a copyright issue! Thanks for helping resolve the issue. Elium2 (talk) 18:05, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
