Rock Springs massacre
The Rock Springs massacre occurred in 1885 in the present-day United States city of Rock Springs, Wyoming. The riot, and resulting massacre of immigrant Chinese miners by white immigrant miners, was the result of racial prejudice toward the Chinese miners, who were perceived to be taking jobs from the white miners. The Union Pacific Coal Department found it economically beneficial to give preference in hiring to Chinese miners, who were willing to work for lower wages than their white counterparts, angering the white miners. When the rioting ended, at least 28 Chinese miners were dead and 15 were injured. Rioters burned 78 Chinese homes, resulting in approximately $150,000 in property damage (equal to $5.09 million in 2020 terms). The massacre in Rock Springs touched off a wave of anti-Chinese violence, especially in the Puget Sound area of Washington Territory.Artwork credit: Thure de Thulstrup; restored by Adam Cuerden

Blog notability

ping @Binksternet: Respectfully wish your help with something here because I have been contacted offline by someone wishing to start a page about a local blog of news/etc. I looked around and didn't find any notable blogs of less than millions of readers and was wondering if you could put link to and/or provide guidance on the notability of blogs, specifically one like the one of interest? I don't find two reliable secondary sources about it and I live in the area, so I would assume I would be able to do so. It looks like mostly a press-release regurgitator with some form of automated pages for the road information and all the public record stuff. Also I have asked the someone to define their paid/unpaid relationship to the company "Lost Coast Communications" which has only a template because they own some local radio stations, see [1]. The local radio stations of course have entries, but there is apparently no entry for the parent organization at present. Nor am I aware of the notability of entities which own radio stations. Thanking you again for your help and thanks also for leaving your reply here where the archiving will be slower and the chance of a newcomer finding your reply much greater. Cheers! I'm in the same boat. I looked around and didn't find even one reliable independent source discussing
WP:GNG requires multiple third party sources, so we are woefully short on notability. Binksternet (talk) 17:11, 29 September 2016 (UTC)[reply

ping @Binksternet: The draft https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Lost_Coast_Outpost was declined. Ellin Beltz (talk) 17:03, 3 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I put that draft on my watchlist a few days ago when I was taking a look around the wiki for our Lost Coast friends. I would have declined it, too, for lack of reliable secondary sources discussing the topic in depth and thus establishing notability. Binksternet (talk) 19:27, 3 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolled granted

Hi Ellin Beltz, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on

new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 10:26, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply

Hi Kudpung: Thank you very much!! I am getting ready to put up more accounts for the buildings in the Ferndale Historical District and being autopatrolled is a great honor! Ellin Beltz (talk) 18:29, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Review of Ferndale Museum

Hi Ellin. I noticed that you were likely the creator of the Ferndale Museum article. I'm an unpaid volunteer there that has edited that article somewhat extensively to get it updated. Since I'm a "connected contributor", I would appreciate your review of the article, and if you are so inclined, to remove the COI tag. Best regards to you.
