Thanks for signing up for this project. It is a very busy and active project with lots going on and we can always use more help and especially a fresh set of eyes. If you haven't done so already you might want to add Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Aircraft to your watch list as this is where much of the background discussion occurs. You may also want to watch Wikipedia:New articles (Aircraft) as this is where newly created articles get listed for peer review. Having a look over these new articles is a great way to get a feel for how things are done on the project and also most new articles need reviewing anyway. If you have any questions you can leave me a note or post at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Aircraft, either way you will get a quick response. - Ahunt (talk) 01:38, 5 December 2018 (UTC)

Machine-translated text
Please do not insert machine-translated text into articles without proofreading and copyediting. You are free to put machine-translated text in your sandbox and drafting spaces as notes, but such text should not be in the article mainspace. If you need help writing articles and want someone to proofread your work, feel free to ask, but do not copy-paste google-translated text into articles. Thank you.--PlanespotterA320 (talk) 16:57, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
- PlanspotterA320, I insert machine-translated text as a base, so that we have the information, and then we can edit. The machine translated text was not intended as the final form. Erfson (talk) 18:22, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
- Then please put it in your sandbox, copyedit it, and then put it in the article. Because machine translated text often has lots of technical, grammar, and formatting errors. Other users don't have time to fix every single article you've inserted machine translated text into - by the time we finish fixing one article, three more articles have machine-translated text added, creating a growing mess. Your sandbox is a great place to draft articles. I appreciate your enthusiasm and look forward to reading the articles you write, but we cannot allow pure machine-generated text to say in the article mainspace due to the huge amount of innacuracies and flaws from machine translation.--PlanespotterA320 (talk) 18:26, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
- Again, please time time to compose your articles in your sandbox before putting content in the article. Please don't do what you did with Malév Flight 110 again.--PlanespotterA320 (talk) 20:54, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
- @TonyBallioni: Can you please give this user some guidance? Not responding and ignoring my requests to follow certain rules. (Specifically, this is not how articles in the mainspace can be written...those have to be in sandboxes to be improved, but he just puts them out there)--PlanespotterA320 (talk) 20:17, 7 December 2018 (UTC)

- Hi Erfson, yes, PlanespotterA320 is correct. Machine translations are inadvisable for any number of reasons. Additionally, there is the problem of copyright with them: if you're adding machine translated text word for word from another wiki without attribution, that violates our license. If you're doing it from a copyrighted source, that violates their copyright. Hope this is helpful. TonyBallioni (talk) 20:22, 7 December 2018 (UTC)

]- Hi, the article was on a list of requested aviators for wikiproject:aircraft. Please explain why we should not have the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Erfson (talk • contribs)
- Lots of articles are requested, but being requested doesn't mean they should be made. It also doesn't mean that article content should be copied-and-pasted in bulk from an external website onto an article's page just to create the article. FWIW, I only removed the copied-and-pasted text and did some other cleaning up. Although I did suggest in my response to your such sources at least exist, it's going to be hard to convince the Wikipedia community that she is Wikipedia notable for a stand-alone article to be written about her. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:07, 6 December 2018 (UTC)]
