Purachina --> Platinum is a direct translation of the words. Whenever I have seen something referred to as "Platinum" in Japanese, the katakana reading "purachina" is used. "Purachinamu" is never used in Japanese, whereas "purachina" is the only usage. Just like "gōrudo" and "shirubā" are used for gold and silver.
