Response to question

I saw your question on the help desk on creating an article. Fist, you need to search for that topic in Wikipedia to make sure it does not already exist. If it does not, then you type in what you want to name the article in the search area and click "go." When it says there is no such article, click on edit this page, if it is not on that feature already, and then type the text you want on the page into the edit box, and click "save page." Your article should appear instantly. Thanks!--

However, before creating the article you should also make sure the topic is notable, see Wikipedia:Notability. There isn't really a hard and fast requirement about notability, although from your description on the help desk (a youth football team, I am involved with) I suspect if you create this article someone will shortly request that it be deleted. The main reason notability is desirable is so articles satisfy the requirement for Wikipedia:Verifiability (unlike notability, verifiability is a policy). An article about a youth football team you write from your own knowledge is not very likely to be verifiable. If this team has a long history and has won national or international championships and information about it is available in sources (websites, books, magazines) you cite, then a Wikipedia article would be fine. Although this article is not about a person, most of the same principles from Wikipedia:Autobiography also probably apply. I hope this helps. -- Rick Block (talk) 23:44, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
