A tag has been placed on DJ Sabrina the Teenage DJ, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See
    Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations
    for more information.
  • It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See
    section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable
    .

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by

Leah Boyd

You challenged the notability and referencing of the Leah Boyd article. What specifically were your concerns?--3family6 (Talk to me | See what I have done) 12:54, 31 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

WP:NOR), and the rest are simply beauty pageant results. Holidayruin (talk) 16:22, 31 July 2021 (UTC)[reply
]

Being profiled in the flagship publication for American evangelicalism is certainly significant and notable. That feature alone I'd argue is enough to demonstrated notability in this case. The additional mention in The Economist, which is significant coverage, helps bolster that. The Madison Record is certainly a reliable source, so the reliability tag is erroneous. That source also helps bolster the notability provided by the CT source. Boyd's webpage is being used here as a primary source by the subject about themselves to make straightforward factual claims, which is a legitimate use of primary sources per
WP:PRIMARY. It is not being used to demonstrate notability at all. I agree that the pageant reporting itself would not provide notability, but those sources are being used to make verifiable claims about the subject, not support notability (although they might also bolster the notability of Boyd as supplements to the CT report). Lastly, it appears that another editor has weighed in and removed that tags (also keep in mind that several editors had already viewed the page and the article went through the DYK process).--3family6 (Talk to me | See what I have done) 22:16, 31 July 2021 (UTC)[reply
]
Also, your claim about The Economist reference being original research is false - Boyd was sought out for a quote regarding the subject of the story.--3family6 (Talk to me | See what I have done) 22:19, 31 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I already knew about this Gallup Korea poll, thank you for mentioning it anyway. I updated the statement, I wrote that sentence on my first day of wikipedia when I was even more unsure of what to write than I am now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hong kuslauski (talkcontribs) 00:24, 5 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Hong kuslauski: I did move your new edit about the poll to later in the introduction, where I think it better fit. But info like that is important in talking about his modern legacy in South Korea. @MJL: I believe this is in response to the discussion regarding the usage of "Chōsen" in infoboxes. Fine by me, site-wide changes regarding this topic should not be promulgated by a single individual without wide objective consensus. For the record, I only made one article edit regarding this issue, which was then reverted. I only hope that the sanction rule applies to all parties heavily involved, and that sanctions will be lifted after the matter is said and done on a wider level. Your recent editing history at United States v. McMahon shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. @Holidayruin please don't remove the 2nd part of the sentence "that tells a "Romeo and Juliet tale" of young Ukrainian Hutsul lovers trapped on opposite sides of a Carpathian family blood feud." This statement is taken straight from the source attached to that sentence: Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors. Turner Classic Movies. 2021 (https://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/490774/shadows-of-forgotten-ancestors#overview). Please don't remove statements backed by sources.

I reversed your edit and returned that statement https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Shadows_of_Forgotten_Ancestors&diff=1102029708&oldid=1100245455 - please don't engage in further edit war and please leave that statement there. Hey Holidayruin, I don't feel particularly strongly about such a small change. I do want to make sure that you don't mark reverts of others edits as minor edits as you did in this edit. You can read more about minor edits here. Anyways, I think the meaning is perfectly clear without the extra word, as space is at a premium in infoboxes. Shall we ask the talk page and see what others think? Grey Wanderer (talk) 15:50, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Grey Wanderer: Gotcha about the revert and minor edit mark. Honestly I don't care much either, but I changed it because upon reading the article because the wording immediately struck me as awkward and just a little vague. I just don't want the article to leave the same impression with others when it could be smoothed over with a single word. Holidayruin (talk) 17:25, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I do see your point. I’ll defer to you, assuming others could be similarly struck. Grey Wanderer (talk) 18:14, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Mun Choi

Incidentally, I noticed you have some experience with Korean content. If it catches your interest would you mind taking a look at Mun Choi, an article I created about a Korean-American? Other users have added details overtime, and I'm not educated enough on Korean culture to verify some of these details, such as his Korean name, possible birthplace, etc. Thanks, and no pressure if you don't have the time. Grey Wanderer (talk) 16:05, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Grey Wanderer: Hey there, thanks for reaching out. For Korean-Americans like Choi pretty much all information would be in English, so I believe there's not much of an information gap between us. I did verify his Korean name given the Korean-language source (although I can't verify the Hanja spelling because I don't know Hanja... Hanja is basically unused nowadays). I also found a local news article that stated his birthplace as Seoul, so I added that and a little about his immigration. Holidayruin (talk) 17:17, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for checking it out! Grey Wanderer (talk) 18:14, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, would you revert your second-to-last edit please? He isn't the first ethnic minority PM, ...nor will he be our first ethnic minority prime minister – that was achieved by Benjamin Disraeli, who was Jewish... - The Telegraph. GhulamIslam (talk) 16:58, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@GhulamIslam: This is a good point. It appears that my edit was reverted anyways, and a discussion is underway in the talk page about this. But thank you for bringing this up. Holidayruin (talk) 17:42, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, - You reverted my edit saying that Salem is apparently her cat. But The Guardian explicitly says "Sabrina picked the stupidest name she could think of, and began work on Makin’ Magick, her debut album, with some help from her sibling, who she refers to as Salem", and Alt Press mentions "the two brainchildren behind the project — who go by DJ Sabrina and Salem". Alt Press also mentions a cat but says it's "not canon, per se". Do you have a source that explains whether or not Salem is, in fact, a cat? HarryKernow (talk) 05:02, 9 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
