Hello Thebainer! Fine, you are updating the article

2006 East Timor crisis. I am the editor of the German article. If you are on search for sources, just check the references at the German article. Most of them are in English and updated until today. ;-) --J. Patrick Fischer 17:05, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply

Thanks alot, I was maintaining this article from its creation, until my semester exams came a while ago and I ran out of time to work on it. I've been trawling through archives to catch up, though your selection of sources will be very helpful! --

East Timor

I appreciate the update/correction on East Timor. Sometimes the information I get (in this case, from Statoids) is old and outdated - and the good thing about Wiki is how fast we can learn about updated information.

I did a few formatting changes to the subdistricts page - and the map I made I will relabel to Subdistricts (instead of Municipalities). Might I suggest this - add an article that talks about the definition and applicable usage of suco? Because village is the English term. If we have an entry for the subnational entity of suco, then the article can remain more cultural. :) Oh, and if you have any reference to maps of the Municipalities, I would gladly work on creating some. Map of the Portuguese Empire in the 20th century

Good update on the map, my friend! I had forgotten the loss of Dadra and Nagar-Aveli in 1954. Mea maxima culpa! I'm adding your map to replace my former one in the article Portugal. Thanks. The Ogre 20:54, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Helo J. Patrick Fischer! I made same changes to the Anachronous map of the Portuguese Empire that I believe respond to your comments regarding the colonial borders of Brazil. Flag of East Timor

I'm from korean wikipedia. In Korean 'East Timor' article, I never said it is current flag. It was explained 'colonial flag' in korean.--Digital man (talk) 11:33, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Digital man! Sorry, my Korean is not so good. ;-) There is anyhow a big dispute about the correct colouring of the CoA, so I decided to take the flag away generally. Greetings, --J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 11:37, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

3RR Rule

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If the edit warring continues, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 14:17, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit war at Dili

User:189.41.242.19 \ User:Domaleixo

User J. Patrick Fischer (talk) is removing systematically the symbols of the city alleging they are not used anymore. The problem is that he doesn´t quote any relevant source to remove the symbols and prove they are not used anymore, despite there´s a law supporting them. I gave the data, he is disputing it, just for personal taste. You are being partial. His editions are the ones to be avoided. User:J. Patrick Fischer

Hello Excirial. I requested for several times for help, but nothing happend. I asked for a third oppinion, I announced the edit war and I announced the vandalism of User:Domeleixo. The discussion at the talk page is about the CoA and flag of Dili, but Domaleixo is deleting the sourced chapter about the Administration, too, although I warned him. Anyhow, Domaleixo is insulting the other users in the discussion. There are three against his sole oppinion. There is high time for an administrator to stop him. --J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 14:30, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Even so reverting each other over and over will not solve the issue as the other user can do the exact same thing. I listed the page for

As you can see: There are several opinions against Domaleixo and he is trying again worldwide to press his image inside. There is really the need for an administrator. --J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 09:22, 22 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Exciral! Domaleixo changed again the article Dili against the opinion of four people, including the "third opinon". He is offending everyone and is not following the Wikiquette. It is high time for administrators to intervene. --J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 14:58, 22 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merebau and me made several reports at AN3 and there was even a "third opinion", who supported the opinion of the majority. You warned Domaleixo not to go on with the edit war, but he is still doing it as IP-socket puppet. It cost a lot of time to repair Domaleixos doings and I want to respect your request not to go on with edit war, but the only solution this way would be, to accept Domaleixo's minority one-person-opinion. I do not think, that is the right way. --J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 15:16, 22 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The only report i see on ANI is the report made by Domaleixo, which is apparently not being actioned due to

It is very difficult for an non-native-English-speaker to understand the several different report options and procedures. I gave up trying to understand the sockpuppet report procedure. I made reports at "Edit war" and "Third opinion request", but by now I really get lost in this bureaucratism. In German Wikipedia it is quite simple. If there is a problem, administrators are acting after a request quite fast. --J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 15:37, 22 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Then write an article that actually explains the distinction in a meaningful and non-trivial way; the version I redirected didn't say anything about what makes "Timor Timur" different from East Timor, it just said it was the old name for it and nothing else. Hi, Patrick. Someone have vandalized Timor Leste national Football Team page. They add false data and Information. About Isla_Batek (Spanish Wikipedia)

http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isla_Batek

I don't speak English, but I will try to answer: in the article on Batek Island in the Spanish Wikipedia, I had doubts because the French wikipedia says that the dispute between Timor and Indonesia was resolved in 2004.

"En 2004 Colonel indonésien Moesanip a dit, que cette revendication est abandonnée en 2004 lorsque le ministre Est-timorais des Affaires étrangères, José Ramos-Horta, reconnait la souveraineté indonésienne sur l'île.1 Le gouvernement de Timor oriental n' accepte jamais ceci officielle".

"english: Jose Ramos-Horta, recognizes Indonesian sovereignty over the island"

but when I saw you added the new source, with other information about the dispute is active I understand the changes in this article in Spanish. --Warairarepano&Guaicaipuro (talk) 18:55, 3 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

With this edit, you duplicated the Makasae article with the claim that "Makalero is not the same as Makasae". However, according to the article as you restored it, it is the same. Please provide refs if they are distinct languages. — kwami (talk) 02:03, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tatamailau and List of Ultras of Indonesia

It is not a huge issue for me but I linked

List of Ultras of Indonesia. Yes, the mountain also lies in the country of East Timor which is clearly stated in the article, but remember this is a geographical article on the mountain, not East Timor. I didn't believe, you wanted to "occupy" the mountain for Indonesia, but geography is politics, too. Calling the Tatamailau an Indonesian ultra is simpley incorrect. The border is far away. And btw, the islands are part of the Malay Archipelago. Greetings, --J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 18:22, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ok fine, but hey, generally I am under the impression that it is least a basic common courtesy to run a page move (

I really haven't had much time to think this over, but for example, are you sure Malay Archipelago is the best choice? That term includes New Guinea and the Philippines, which are not represented in that particular ultras list. Wouldn't Sunda Islands be a closer description of the islands in question? These are things that should be discussed and why it's a good idea to talk about page moves first, before renaming. --RacerX11 Talk to meStalk me 19:16, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

East Timorese elections

Actually your English seems to be very good, so I wouldn't worry about that - you would certainly be able to translate better than I could (I speak German, but only just enough to use this excellent referendum database. A quick question - how many seats did Frenti-Mudança and FRETILIN hold in Parliament before the election? I assume FRETILIN was reduced to less than the 21 it won at the last elections, as there were some breakaways (like Frenti-Mudança)? I just need the info to complete the infobox.
