I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume for a little while that you are the original author of Musical Stones of Skiddaw. But you must cause Wikipedia has permission to copy this (or words to that effect) to appear at the end of this blog entry. Otherwise I shall mark the article as copyvio.

Please also note: a) we upload an image once at as large a resolution as possible. As you can see in the article now, Wikipedia is very good at resizing. b) All images must be marked with their source and a licence tag. -- RHaworth 10:03, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am new to Wiki. I work at keswick Museum, I have written this article and am having problems understanding the best way to lay it out so that Wiki will publish. Yours, midly confused JJ-Barnes 13:39, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Are you speaking of the Musical Stones of Skiddaw article? Waitak 14:47, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh dear, I thought my note above was clear enough. I was not actually bothered about the content of the article at all - that could be tidied up at leisure. My concern was to establish clearly the copyright position for the article and the images given that the text already exists on myspace and is apparently going to be published as a book. Please study Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission and make sure that permission is lodged with the Wikimedia PR department. Also add a note on the article's talk page to prevent anyone else from tagging it copyvio.

I am the author of the article 'The Musical Stones of Skiddaw', Regards, Jamie BarnesJJ-Barnes 12:08, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re images, please do not keep uploading the same image - you just edit the image description. The GFDL tag you have used is probably OK. All the images need their source stated explicitly, eg. the words "Paul Wilson" do not actually state that he took the picture.

Unspecified source for Image:CrosthwaiteStonesNoteLineCrop2.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:CrosthwaiteStonesNoteLineCrop2.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read

the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard

to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on

section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing
.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
