Information icon Hello, I'm Andethyst. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Lead poisoning—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Percy Robb. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Philipnelson99 (talk) 20:51, 8 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

YOU REVERTED ONE OF MY CONTRIBUTIONS

Joe120p (talk) 21:15, 8 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your post

@Joe120pBasically, if you are making articles or nominating articles for deletion, you are going to run into other people. If you do this enough, you will run into certain people consistently and can start to figure out what they are likely to do. People then start to make friendships or rivalries out of it, which isn't allowed and take discussion off-site or talk through wikipedia email. Then people use their friendships to pool votes and have 2 votes on a discussion instead of 1.
It's hard for this stuff to officially be picked up on, because people don't admit it and accusing anyone of doing it is against the rules. Posting evidence of it is probably against the rules as well.
What's worse though is that to get into various roles on here, you have to be voted in through elections. Remember where I said people basically exchange votes? Yeah, comes in handy to have 2-3 extra votes in an election, right? People vote a friend in, then the friend later helps them get in. They are then basically free to have all the fun they want since they decide the rules and since people in power rarely go after other people in power because then someone will get found out.
Sorry to hear what happened. Don't be discouraged. It's unfortunate how things can be here, just keep doing your thing.KatoKungLee (talk) 22:09, 8 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
While I can't deny that what you say sometimes happens, KatoKungLee, I really think that this is not a helpful thing to say to Joe120p right now: mostly that sort of thing doesn't happen (and voting is quite rare in Wikipedia), and in any case Joe120p has not tried any of those advanced activities at the moment, but they are feeling bruised because their attempts to help have been reverted.
Joe120p: I'm sorry you're feeling bruised. It's like any your first step into any new system: there's a lot to understand. Please don't take it personally.
Looking at your first change, you edited
Lead Poisoning to replace the header "long-term" by "long-lasting". This might be an improvement, but it's not obviously so (and I don't believe it is), so it might have been better to discuss the change first. But far more significantly, you removed some citations, without giving any reason. Doing this immediately looks like vandalism, and is probably why Andethyst reverted it. If there is some genuine improvement you think you can make, you're welcome to open a discussion on the article's talk page Talk:Lead poisoning
.
Your other change was at Percy Robb, where you added a comment (actually a request): we never put editorial comments like this into articles, as this is an encyclopaedia, not social media. Again, the talk page would be the place for such questions - though I don't see why you should particularly be asking about "this story".
It may be (judging by what you've put on your talkuser page) that you've just come here to mess about a bit. I'm afraid that if that's your intent, then you are not going to have an enjoyable time here. While editors do generally enjoy what they are doing here (or they wouldn't do it), our purpose is building the best encyclopaedia in the world, nothing playing around.
Have you tried the
Tutorial
? It may give you some ideas how to edit to improve Wikipedia, and not get stressed out.
I hope you find a way to enjoy editing Wikipedia. ColinFine (talk) 22:53, 8 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
