Our regional group is engaged in a strategic planning process to sharpen our strategy for the next three years, and we would like your input. Given your connection to us and your experience with Wikimedia NYC, I would be grateful if you would be willing to share some of your perspectives and insights as we think about our next chapter. Attached is an anonymous survey, which will remain active until February 28. Responses will go directly to Barretto Consulting and the Wikimedia NYC board will receive responses in aggregate and to identify cross-cutting themes. Actually it did not changed a direct quote @Yakov Kreizberg, but a wrong translation.
Thanks for reverting the change I made to the wrong English translation of the original quote in German[1]. The expression "Das Stück" that I loosely translated as "the piece" will still be missing in the mistranslation of the original quote, due to your reversal. Consequently the translation will remain inaccurate. Since I don't revert fellow editors' changes without discussing them first, if you don't want to revert the change you've made to my edit, I don't care. I give up
Hucbald and anonymous are utterly unwilling to compromise, so absent a few more editors closer to the mainstream on that page, there's no way to improve the text without being reverted. It's too esoteric a topic for normal Wikipedia tools like RfC to move the needle. My new plan is to wait for their generation to retire, because I've seen ample evidence that Schenker is not going to have as many partisans in the next one. There was a talk at SMT last fall that surveyed what the new PhDs find relevant to their research interests, and if Schenkerian analysis wasn't dead last, it was close. Hi @Kosboot, the Global Advocacy team is launching their monthly conversation hours and we would love to have you join. We have two calls to accommodate timezones, the call on July 1 at 16h EST might work well for you. All information you need to participate is on this Meta page.
The agenda is split between a dedicated theme for the month and whatever items you wish to cover. This month we will share some of our work on disinformation. There is no set agenda for the second half of the call - feel free to add your item to the list of topics in the etherpad. Come and talk to us! There will also be smaller sessions for much of August 12-14 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) as hybrid local gatherings for the global online conference Wikimania 2022. You are also encouraged to sign up for a lightning talk! All attendees are subject to Wikimedia NYC's Code of Conduct. - I will not be part of it. I just observe that there was a compromise possible in 2015, and came one editor who just counted votes (and missed that some changed there mind but didn't strike a former statement), and the compromise was gone. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:46, 12 September 2022 (UTC)

September 29 Global Advocacy Conversation Hour on Mass Surveillance
The Global Advocacy Team at the Wikimedia Foundation will be hosting another of our monthly conversation hours on September 29 at 21:30 UTC. You can find more about your local time and details on how to join the Zoom call on our MetaWiki page.
The agenda is split between a dedicated theme for the month and whatever items you wish to cover. This month we will share some of our work combatting mass surveillance and speakers will include policy advocates from both the United States and Mexico.
These forums are an opportunity for us to answer questions about our work or about your initiatives, and to connect, share, and learn from each other. Come and talk to us! Ask us anything, or tell us anything, related to public policy and advocacy initiatives for free knowledge online. For example: You want to learn more about our team and our current initiatives You would like to share a policy development or advocacy campaign idea and would like to get feedback or support You have questions about a specific WMF policy priority or development

The other day, I was having a conversation with someone about holiday cards and social media. It occurred to me that, in the years since I left Facebook, the site I use most to communicate with people I like isn't actually a social media site at all. If you're receiving this, it's pretty likely I've talked with you more recently than I have my distant relatives and college friends on FB, at very least, and we may have even collaborated on something useful.
