Spelling on your user page

Judging by your user boxes, you care about spelling and grammar. Since I also care about spelling and grammar and would prefer people to correct me when I get something wrong, I would like to let you know you incorrectly used further in Soldat. Since you were referring to the distance jumped the correct word would be farther. I fixed that, and on your user page noticed two spelling errors but didn't correct them because I'm uncertain if it's acceptable to edit someone else's user page. The misspelled words are asterisk and entries. --Noerrorsfound 07:58, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks I guess. But if you'll notice my userboxes, all the language ones are about grammar. I pride myself on knowing which form to use when multiple forms are available, like you're your, their there, etc., and I've never been very good at spelling (and I don't really care about other forms of grammar, such as prepositions at the end of sentenses).
English s a crazy language, with silent letters, multiple pronunciations of letters, and unneccessary multiple forms. But it's the only language I know, and in what I've learned about French, some other languages are worse in ways. It makes me sincerely wish there was one, sensible langage that the whole world used. Kevin 11:50, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. There may be spelling errors in my response, but I don't really care.
I corrected them anyway, though. Kevin 00:48, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'm just wondering, why did you add this to the tfd's? I'm not sure if it was a test, if you were editting another page, if you thought it needed refs, etc, but this invalid refernece parameter casued the entire expand section to go under the seven wonders thing. I have fixed it since. Thanks. ~

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Oozinator.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

"Information loss" is inherently not a good reason to revert changes to a

WP:DISAMBIGUATION page. A disambiguation page should not have any information that isn't contained in the articles that it links to, because it only exists to help users navigate to those articles. If the linked articles don't actually contain any information about the phrase, it should not be linked from the disambiguation page. Propaniac (talk) 02:21, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply
]

It looks like the vast majority of those links you claim are useful are for the phrase "A good day to die" and not "It is a good day to die"; to be honest that's probably why I removed a lot of them, but I don't have time this evening to go through all of them. If they were on a disambig page called A Good Day to Die and linked to articles that discussed some meaning of that phrase, that'd be fine. Propaniac (talk) 02:32, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Inspector Gadget.JPG)

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media
).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:30, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sparknotes

No offense, but I've reverted your addition of Sparknotes again per

WP:RS: "Articles should be based on reliable, third-party, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy." According to this criteria, Sparnotes is not a reliable source and therefore should not be utilized, no matter what is being sourced. There are many scholarly works that discuss The Red Badge of Courage and its characters, available both in print and via online (GoogleBooks, Netlibrary, etc.), so Sparknotes isn't exactly the only choice out there. :) Hope this helps, María (habla conmigo) 21:36, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply

I intend to revise those articles following the

Answer to your question of vyeh's talk page

Kevin, thank you for your response on my talk page. As a matter of fact, I deleted the link to MobyGames because it looked like a pedestrian review. The guidelines I mentioned above say

  • If the page contains substantial information that is relevant but not necessarily encyclopedic in nature, a video game's page at
    Internet Movie Database
may be added on a case by case basis.

I didn't feel the page had "substantial information."

I am sorry if I disturbed you with my message. I do plan to do an extensive overhaul of the two articles and I thought there would be less problem if I let people who were interested in the articles know about it. I checked and the articles are on less than 30 watchlists. I wish there was a way of identifying who was watchlisting the articles. Then it would be easier to figure out who was interested. I did consult with Narthring and Reyk about letting people know and Reyk said "It is good that you're asking for advice before making large-scale edits though- politeness and consideration for other editors is always a good thing."

I'm new and don't know the proper protocols. I've read the materials that Narthring provided me. I would appreciate any guidance you have. You can reply on this talk page. I have watchlisted it.

Thank you.

I found you listed at Category:User js-1 (probably because you posted the corresponding userbox on your user page), and thought you might be interested in improving your skills by getting involved with developing user scripts, hobnobbing with other JavaScript programmers, and organizing and improving JavaScript articles and support pages.

We do all of that and more at the JavaScript WikiProject.

Scripts undergoing development, and the state of JavaScript on Wikipedia, are discussed on the talk page.

For an overview of JavaScript coverage on Wikipedia, see Draft:Outline of JavaScript and Index of JavaScript-related articles. For everything on user scripts, see User:The Transhumanist/Outline of scripts.
