Deep Vole Brook

Source for the name? USGS calls it just "Deep Brook". Just curious. Choess 09:15, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That's OK, we can leave it in. "Deep Vole" just sounded odd, like a corruption of "Deep Vale" or something. Choess 22:50, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stevenson Brook

I've spent a half an hour looking at Google map trying to figure out where Stevenson Brook is located as described in the Wikipedia article. Since you took the photos for the article, would you mind sending me a link of where Stevenson Brook is on Google map and/or complete and add {{Coord}} to the article. Thanks. -- Uzma Gamal (talk) 13:34, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Now that you located it, I was able to see the brook from a Google map vier from Wagaraw road. Looks like they covered the brook up except for its mouth. I came to that article in helping TiMike empty Category:New Jersey articles missing geocoordinate data. Sounds exciting that you are out at sea. Are you saving the world, fishing, or moving goods? -- Uzma Gamal (talk) 08:40, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: North Hawthorne

I am a commons admin, I can rename the file. I realized a few days later that I had the wrong spot. Please don't show me pictures because I know what it looks like. I've been studying the Erie for several years. Can I at least ask you write a good article about it? Sick of seeing all these Erie stubs I have to work on. Also, use the Erie infobox I helped develop. Mitch32(There is a destiny that makes us... family.) 02:34, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File has been renamed for clarity. Mitch32(There is a destiny that makes us... family.) 02:37, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm fine with the title, all NYSW stations will keep that header anyway, due to the way the NYS&W was handled. I've fixed the template for you. Also I need to point out that that photo is not the roundhouse, that is the ex-NYSW Hawthorne stop, why is that in the sandbox? The code is 1127, the reason for the issue is that North Hawthorne was previously known as North Paterson in 1916, which is what the station is listed as. Mitch32(There is a destiny that makes us... family.) 03:42, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This is the Port Authority for you, since photography is banned on PATH and such. Getting used to that. Mitch32(There is a destiny that makes us... family.) 04:04, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No history? This article is severely lacking in history. For example, I see no mention that in 1939, the NYS&W wanted to bustitute from Butler to North Hawthorne instead of run trains. I see no construction date, etc. Headers need adjustment. Article in general needs serious work. Mitch32(There is a destiny that makes us... family.) 17:35, 28 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Most are external sources, including the big NYS&W book (forget its name off the top of my head). Mitch32(There is a destiny that makes us... family.) 00:33, 29 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Article still needs some work, still very stubby, and I don't want it really moved until its at a C-class or higher. Description of services, description of the site, next station in line in both directions, terminals, etc are necessary. More history is also necessary. Mitch32(There is a destiny that makes us... family.) 03:49, 29 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I see an infobox in serious need of more information. The lead is lacking still, remember it should cover a summary of the article. The site & services sections should be merged and moved above history. The lack of citations in some areas need work. It's getting there. :) Mitch32(There is a destiny that makes us... family.) 17:58, 13 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

We're just about there. I've got a couple things you need to do (in the following bullet list):

  1. The last Susquehanna train ran June 30, 1966, not just June 1966. Make sure the article and infobox reflects this.
  2. You can't have 1 Level 3-subheader in an article (per MOS). The easiest fix is to add a second one to the Site & Services section.
  3. I am going to suggest renaming Site and Services to Station layout and services, which is what I use. (Make sure the capitalization follows what I just used per the MOS).
  4. The history section is in dire need of Level 3-headers. Based on length, I'd suggest 3 of them (1891–1938 (give title please, not years), 1939–1966, post-1966 (again no years, give its own title and years involved, like "Post-passenger service (1966–present), etc.
  5. Hawthorne's ZIP Code would be nice next to that.
  6. Still some uncited statements I'd like to see fixed.
  7. Also expand the lead some. Otherwise, I am pretty content with the article. Don't publish it without letting me get another look through. Mitch32(There is a destiny that makes us... family.) 21:06, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Also, if you're interested in the future, it would be nice to finish the commuter stations from Susquehanna Transfer to Butler with articles. My high suggestions would be the ones that stand first (Wortendyke, Wyckoff, Ridgefield Park, Butler (which has an article in need of improvement), Vreeland Avenue, Pompton Lakes, Bogota, Rochelle Park) then the demolished ones (Bloomingdale, Oakland/West Oakland (West Oakland is probably worthy of a subsection in the Oakland article), Crystal Lake/Campgaw (Arguably Crystal Lake can sit in Campgaw), Midland Park, Riverside, Broadway–Paterson, Passaic Junction, Prospect Avenue–Hackensack, Main Street & River Street (one was consolidated into the other if I remember correctly), Babbitt, North Bergen and Little Ferry). Up to you though. Mitch32(There is a destiny that makes us... family.) 21:24, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I did see your response. Feel free to publish it. (Although I highly suggest citations for the uncited stuff.)Mitch32(There is a destiny that makes us... family.) 17:44, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The details about the site currently.Mitch32(There is a destiny that makes us... family.) 20:53, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

2019 US Banknote Contest

US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions
