Thanks for moving the Strangers films

No problem! Mike Allen 18:18, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I made my "The Killer" edit because it seems to fit well with the plot and has been done before in the movies "Dogville." I couldn't find another place to talk to you, so I did it here. TheEpicApartmentLord (talk) 18:47, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's probably because Dogville has a more complicated plot that benefited from being broken down like that. Does the chapters in The Killer display on screen with those titles? Mike Allen 18:50, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. In the film, when a new chapter comes it says for EX: Chapter 2 - Dominican Republic/The Hideout TheEpicApartmentLord (talk) 19:06, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It wouldn't cause any harm or clutter if the Chapter names were included. TheEpicApartmentLord (talk) 19:07, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Saw franchise

I am confused as to why you reverted my edit where I removed non-recurring characters from a table of recurring characters. The table heading said it was a list of characters who had appeared in two or more films, and everyone I removed had only appeared in one. It feels like you were referring more to the fact that I am an IP editor than the actual substance of my edit. I'd like to assume you were editing in good faith, which is why I am writing this comment to ask if you can clear up my confusion and why you reverted. 2A02:C7C:CC26:9300:C4D8:599E:A95E:F2BB (talk) 17:17, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It was reverted back. All is good. Happy editing! Mike Allen 17:20, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Edit on my sandbox

Hi! I've seen your edit on

my sandbox for my proposal of a Marketing section for Saw X
, and it's excellent that you've managed to say a lot while, ironically, deleting less than half of my text. (That's a good thing though, don't worry!)

Hope to hear about its status soon, on the article itself. Thanks again!

Hello, sorry I meant to get back to you after the edit but got distracted. I mainly trimmed the superfluous details (like explaining what the video was, and about 2 posters being released). I didn't want it to come off promotional sounding. Other than that, I don't object to it being added in a Marketing section. Mike Allen 23:32, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Gotcha. So it's clear? Maybe I'll be inactive in a few hours after this, so in the event this ever happens, I'm letting you post it to Saw X. :)

The Persian Version cast list

Hi, I'm not sure why you edited the cast list on The Persian Version to remove a bunch of actors who are all clearly listed on the movie's IMDb page. Smeetsonian (talk) 11:11, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Like my edit summary said, not main cast. We are not a database like IMDb, see
WP:IMDB as a source as it is user generated (like Wikipedia) and thus unreliable. If you think the 2 actors you added back are main cast then I support your decision, especially since most of all your edits are to that page, so you must have a better understanding. Thanks. Mike Allen 12:42, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply

Hi Mike - I noticed your recent edit to this title The Persian Version removed a few key information pieces like the Letterboxd feature - (but more importantly and what I noticed immediately) - the theatrical poster image. Was this in error? I can fix if so. TY :) Boohoolane (talk) 06:14, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Critical acclaim

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

Metacritic clearly states "acclaim". I added sources that also state the film received critical acclaim. One does not have to add reviews in prose to support "critical acclaim" because that would be

WP:SYNTH, since the reviews do not state "acclaim" and just review (praise/criticize) the film as a whole and its aspects. Make it make sense. ภץאคгöร 14:37, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply
]

You're right, why actually do some prose writing. Maybe partake in talk page discussions that are calling your edits out, not my talk page. Mike Allen 14:43, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also, those sources are not really significant. ScreenRant and MovieWeb, really? Maybe the Los Angeles Times as teeth, but I'm not paying to find out. You just do you, as it seems you are becoming a pro at googling for sources to support "critical acclaim" wording. Mike Allen 14:50, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you have a problem with these sources (and also Metacritic), discuss their 'significance' and/or reliability to gain consensus about them. It seems like
synthesize review aggregators and reviews. ภץאคгöร 15:22, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply

Halloween II

Hi,

I notice you rolled back my edit regarding H2's modern reassessment for a lack of neutral tone. I'm not sure how this is the case; all my claims were fully sourced and it seemed no different in tone to any other section discussing a film's legacy. Fire Walk With Me's page contains an entire subsection titled 'Reappraisal', which I used as a model for how the section I wrote for H2 should read.

If you can provide any tips on how to improve the content of what I wrote, that would be much appreciated. The film's page certainly needs a section detailing its modern retrospectives; even just a cursory Google search for H2 brings up handfuls of articles discussing the film's reappraisal. It's definitely undergone a major shift in perception and I think that needs to be reflected on the page. BungusBungoloid (talk) 22:15, 14 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I'm torn between using different things when I edit on Wikipedia. I see stuff like

HotCat, but like I don't know what to use. I've been on Wikipedia for the better part of a year (note my sort of inactivity last year) and like I stuck with good old source editing (until you indirectly introduced me to the 2017 wikitext editor
) and sometimes switching over to visual editing to easily add a reference.

I wonder what others are out there? (Other than the ones I listed here, of course.) Thanks! Nicole. Oh, she's elegantly clandestine... ✨ 13:49, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Red Warn is like Twinkle and it’s mostly for vandalism. It also has built in rollback templates (no reliable source, disruptive editing, etc). I’m not sure if you are required to have
rollback rights to be able to use it. I’ll look more into it later when I get home (I don’t like using mobile Wiki that much). Hot cat is just a script that helps edit categories. The Dirty South (film)

I undid your change. My apologies but.....

It clearly says music by both: Tyler Forrest & Blake Phillips Themovieguy2023 (talk) 01:34, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Are you familiar with music for film? I am.
However, If you would like to alter the publication to list specifically that " Music Soundtrack: Blake Phillips " go right ahead. I didn't want to rebuild the letterbox. But Blake Phillips is indeed the films co-music producer. Themovieguy2023 (talk) 02:24, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Keep it up and you will be reported for edit warring. You’re blatantly ignoring Wikipedia guidelines. What the hell did I alter? That’s what he is listed as on IMDB, that YOU cited. Mike Allen 02:36, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't mean any offense. I am actually responsible for publishing/marketing for the film/distro/music side of things. And I'm telling you that the music is done by both of those individuals. You will see an arsenal of publications in the coming weeks before the films theatrical release on the tenth of Nov.
Are you aware the film won "best cinematography" at the Chelsea Film Festival? https://chelseafilm.org/the-dirty-south/
Again, just kindly as one professional to another I ask, the switch be made. I didn't want to re-arrange the letterbox.
Thank you, kindly. Themovieguy2023 (talk) 11:15, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia does not promote films. Mike Allen 12:24, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
What's the point of drafting an article if it's verifiably incorrect? I'd say that falls on the lines of unethical. Again not sure what your problem is with you and being rude and calling me names. That goes against wiki policy as well. Themovieguy2023 (talk) 12:34, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So i'll be on the lookout to see if you fix that error. If not I'll make a complaint that your page is inaccurate. Giving the proper credit to people and their intellectual property should be paramount. If you need additional verifiable references, just let me know.

If you work in marketing then release a theatrical release poster with BILLING CREDITS. Just because something may be inaccurate on Wikipedia doesn’t prevent the person from getting credit and paid through the company they work for. So I don’t who you are going to report me to. Mike Allen 14:24, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand why you're acting as gate-keeper from someone getting the proper credit on a film. Seems to me you would want your article to be fact based?
I wasn't trying to start a conflict with you. I was trying to work with you on gathering info on the movie and the soundtrack. Did you want to do a soundtrack page to for the film?
I'm just trying to collaborate. Nothing more than that, Mike. Maybe we started off on the wrong foot here. Themovieguy2023 (talk) 15:02, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Fnaf Critics

Hey Mike, I got a question? I see a tons of critics give it negative reviews some giving it positive reviews and some give it mixed. So would it be mixed reviews from critics also I feel like with fans reception being so big should we put that in. I feel like fans are a big part of the FNAF movie and why we have it. DemoJoker47 (talk) 21:24, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Most of the reviews are negative and sources have wrote about the film being not well received by critics. I'm sure it will be written into the article soon about the fan reception. For example, Deadline just wrote today: "Again, Blumhouse made this pic strictly for the fans, not older audiences, and that choice is paying off in spades, now with a CinemaScore of A-. How often do you see a horror movie get that type of grade? They’re typically Bs and Cs, and Freddy’s is in the neighborhood of Get Out (A-)." Mike Allen 22:36, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I understand but with fans being a big part of the movie and critics hating it but fans loving it shouldn’t we add that for the wiki for people to understand. DemoJoker47 (talk) 17:10, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Like I said it can be with multiple reliable sources and written neutrally. We should discuss on the film's talk page the best approach. I think it is pretty obvious to readers when comparing the critic score and the box office numbers. Mike Allen 17:15, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I see you removed Nickelodeon Movies from Under the Boardwalk's credits of the production companies. Well, if you want proof of that, check out the official trailer of the film. It uses the 2008 Nickelodeon Movies logo for the trailer. Can you please look into that? 2600:6C51:627F:4D5:296B:4D8E:887A:E5EE (talk) 01:24, 15 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wish reviews

Rotten Tomatoes has a tomatometer that reveals the rating of a film or tv show. It sounds like you are not familiar with the website. A rotten rating with the splat symbol and numbers from 0-59% mean negative reviews while a fresh rating with the tomato symbol and numbers from 60-100% mean positive reviews. Since Wish has a tomatometer rating in the 50s, that means it has a rotten rating. Cosmic2992 (talk) 22:25, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oh I am very familiar with the site and how it works. We do not ever post that a film has a "rotten" rating or a "fresh" rating. What are you talking about? Was that your IP? If so, please do not remove the RT prose template again. Mike Allen 22:27, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It's literally saying 59% of 54 critics' reviews are positive. It's not meaning the film got positive reviews as a whole. What are you not understanding? Mike Allen 22:41, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Just figuring out why the rotten numbers are being mistakened for positive numbers. But I think the tomatometer depends on the amount of positive and negative reviews from critics a title gets.2603:9000:A006:B2AB:1A5:B892:E427:964F (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 22:58, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I posted snippet of review from an award winning movie critic about Best. Christmas. Ever! and it was removed for non-sensical reason.
No valid to reason to remove a review listed on Rotten Tomatoes from one of it's movie critics. Claiming a movie review isn't valid because it aired on a radio station is absurd.

FNAF Movie 2: should it be put?

Hi :)

Since the sequel of the Five Nights at Freddy's is confirmed to be "in the works" (via The Hollywood Handle, here at https://thehollywoodhandle.co/2023/movies/five-nights-at-freddys-2-emma-tammi-returning-as-director/), I'm here to ask: should that be mentioned on its article, is it just pure bogus, or it's just a rumor and it shouldn't be taken as accurate information? Regardless, I still would like to know some confirmation. Have a good day.

Hi Mike, please could you kindly remove the poster from the Mother Instinct Wikipedia.

we Cybertheftwatch.com represent Anton films, who owns certain rights to this title. The poster is not set for release and we have issued notices across different sites to get posters contained for the time being

we kindly ask you remove it. We have also issued a DMCA notice to source site provided but hope you can remove it faster.

kindly,

Hi Mike, we didn't feel a DMCA notice was appropriate due to the nature of this situation. As explained this poster has been leaked early and we wish for you to remove it until it is officially released next year as part of a full press release. Once officially released next year, we would have no issue with this being shared hence why we didn't want to issue a notice and had hoped you would simply just remove it temporarily. I would happily send you over evidence that Anton are a rights holder (as also indicated on your Wikipedia page but also we are an agent acting on behalf of Anton). Hope you can just apply some common sense and good will here so we don't have to issue a notice. Hope to hear from you soon and thank you in advance, James Ctwjames (talk) 03:28, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I sent you the proper channel to go through. I can not delete files, as I am not an administrator. It's just a poster, not the film itself. I have never heard of a company complaining about a poster being "leaked". As far as I know you are an anonymous user on Wikipedia. Mike Allen 03:42, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Godzilla vs. Kong

I'm sorry, but in what universe is stuff that happens onscreen defined as "not part of the film" while behind the scenes material is? 92.6.175.229 (talk) 00:44, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Updated source (removed)

Mike - we have issued a DMCA Notice now for the mothers instinct poster but this is of urgency. Wikipedia is the only source now as your originally uploaded sourced has removed the content due to a DMCA notice we filed.

Please update your source and remove. DMCA can take sometime but the fact that your uploaded poster / original source has now removed the poster should be saying something.please upload any other image instead, this, you can do Ctwjames (talk) 04:38, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

So, it is not the official poster? How did it get released? I've never seen film poster be "leaked" and then get DMCA take down notices - which is why I was hesitant to believe your request. It's very unusual, especially not for a high profile film. Needless to say, it's been tagged for deletion. Thanks. Mike Allen 13:19, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Mike if you would like to provide your email I would happily copy you into all the facts and stress for promotion that goes into making films! This is not normal but it was a leak! Thank you for all your help Ctwjames (talk) 13:23, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A film article was overrun by IPs (and possibly some registered editors)

Hey, Mike! Sorry for the sudden message, but Leave the World Behind is broken. Jesus Christ, these IPs really can't find anything better to do. I've restored what I can, but for a handful of templates, I don't know which ones were there, and I don't feel like going through edit history right now since I'm as busy as it is in my real life.

Thanks! Nicole. Oh, she's elegantly clandestine... 06:57, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Camping out on "Ferrari (2023 film)" page

I noticed that you seem to be camping out on the page for Ferrari (2023 film), and wrote this passive-aggressive response to one of my good faith edits: [(Rollback edit(s) by Obversa (talk): WP:DAILYMAIL is a blacklisted source (which you had to bypass the filters to add) (RW 16.1) undothank Tags: Wikipedia:RedWarn]"

However, this may be a misuse of RedWarn. Quoting the RW page: "Do not forget that you are responsible for all edits made with RedWarn. You have the chance to review every action you make. You must use this tool within Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or risk being blocked from editing. RedWarn is a powerful tool, and some behaviour is strongly discouraged, including but not limited to: Misusing the alert on change option to violate Wikipedia:Ownership of content or Wikipedia:Edit warring."

Making passive-aggressive comments against other editors directly goes against Wikipedia's editing policy, particularly . Please re-review

.

If the passive-aggressive behavior continues, I will have to report your misuse of the RedWarn system to the Ultraviolet Team. It is fine to use the RedWarn system to revert edits, but not to make inflammatory comments.

Furthermore, please re-review

an about-self fashion." The article also stipulates that the Daily Mail itself is not "banned" as a source, and that "Context matters tremendously, and some sources may or may not be suitable for certain uses depending on the situation. When in doubt, defer to the linked discussions for more detailed information on a particular source and its use. Consensus can change, and if more recent discussions considering new evidence or arguments reach a different consensus, this list should be updated to reflect those changes." Blanking sourced content

Please do not remove sourced content based on your own personal analysis as you did in

what you think is true, or you could complain to the reliable sources that they got it wrong. Please also see template:Infobox film for more instructions on how to use the template. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 14:33, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply

I used the film’s credits as a primary source. Screen Daily is the ONLY website that says Netflix Animation. It’s not what I think is true but ok sir. I’ll take it off my watchlist because I don’t appreciate this type of warning. Like I just opened my account today or something and need Wikipedia guidelines blue linked. Woooow. Leave the World Behind (film)

Hello Mike Allen,

I've noticed there are several people who have somewhat engaged in a writing-cum editing contest in the plot section of the film. Leave the World Behind. I understand there are many who wish to contribute, but the addition of too many details, especially minute ones - are unnecessary.

I did manage to shorten the plot to satisfy Wiki's plot-writing limit at 700 words, but within a few hours more editors show up, adding to this edit fight, of sorts. Such extra, minute facts - which I found on the edits just after mine, such as:

(1).Paragraph 2: "... and a quick news broadcast on the radio claims that an environmental disaster has occurred and the migration pattern of animals have been erratic..."

(2).Paragraph 2: "... two then see a massive flock of birds flying in circles erratically..."

(3).Paragraph 3: "... exploding most windows and all lights..."

These are minute facts in the movie, but aren't pivotal ones. By time these occur, the characters and the film audience will have already grasped the precariousness of the film's events. The extra details only serve to cross the boundary set by Wikipedia. It's best to keep the plot unedited after this melee.

I trust you could understand my viewpoint, and would thus assist to deter any other Wiki user from adding to this conflict.

Thank you Yours sincerely, User: Silver Pavilion Silver Pavilion (talk) 00:34, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Peter Pan and Wendy

Hey, I saw you reverted my edit on the Peter Pan & Wendy film about whether the reviews are mixed or roughly good.

I've just checked the reviews and overall they are between 50-60% or 5-6/10. And one Rotten Tomatoes, the user reviews are at 11%.

So I would really call that mixed reviews rather than good.

Anyway, have a good one, Mariiin 9 (talk) 11:38, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

User disrupting Napoleon 2023 (Film) page

Hello, I’d like to ask your support to handle with the user IAmNMFlores, who is constantly messing the many pages on Wikipedia. He was blocked before for insisting in nonsense information supported in wrong way. Now, it seems he deleted his block and bad information from his talk page but you can see it in his talk page records. This time he’s disrupting Napoleon 2023 (Film) page by constantly adding Apple TV+ as a theatrical distributor. He was advised many times that this is nonsense and he should not insisting in this, that Apple TV+ is simply a streaming service and theatrical distribution of Napoleon film is made by Sony. So I simply don’t know what to do about in this scenario when the information is clearly wrong and the other person insists. It’s a bit absurd keep insisting Apple TV+ is a theatrical distributor. I’m asking your help because I see you’re quite active in Napoleon 2023 (film) page and are most experienced than me in Wikipedia. Kind regards and marry Christmas. :)
