Cukrakalnis: Hey! My time is very limited in the near future, but I keep an eye on things and try to help where I can. Also, it seems that there is the Baltic states military history task force already. I would suggest to consolidate the effort within the existing initiatives rather than split them off. -- Mindaur (talk) 14:02, 19 February 2023 (UTC)[reply

The Baltic states military history task force is inactive and lifeless. The last edits of two of its three members were in 2014-2015, while the third member's edits, more often than not, within articles that are disconnected to Baltic milhist instead of those that are connected. The task force's founder, Kirill Lokshin (who isn't even in the task force), last edited in October 2022, and paid most attention to the military history of countries besides that of Baltic states (when he was writing about milhist at all, that is). It would be a futile undertaking to single-handedly try to resuscitate a dead task force, most of whose members don't even edit/care anymore, which was partly my reasoning behind beginning a new task force.

Cukrakalnis: The task force is just a place to coordinate the work, right? I don't see why the effort on the Lithuanian articles couldn't be coordinated within the Baltic states task force, even if the other editors are inactive. The Lithuanian part of it would get revived. -- Mindaur (talk) 14:06, 20 February 2023 (UTC)[reply

The Baltic states task force has the problem that numerous people confuse the Baltics with the Balkans (so there are articles about the latter attached to the Baltics task force despite them being totally unconnected) and some people seem to think that things connected to the Baltic Sea can be put under the Baltics task force, despite milhist of the Baltic Sea not being within the scope of the task force. That task force (besides being almost non-existent in terms of editors) is a mess and it would be better to have a clean start with a more specialized task force concerning just Lithuania instead of cleaning up other people's mess.
