Hi Miniapolis, here's an alert to a secret revert of one of your edits. I noticed that you recently blanked

WP:UP#PROMO. However, an IP (50.12.239.149) put back all the content. (I know about this because I came across this page in Recent Changes and watchlisted it.) George8211 conversations

WP:NOTHERE; funny how WP's position in the Google algorithm brings out the would-be advertisers :-). All the best, Miniapolis

A quick note about Mai Shiranui

Hi Miniapolis, thanks for taking the above request. Having just done Kasumi (Dead or Alive), I thought I'd let you know that Niemti—who has been editing the above article—was editing "Kasumi" at the same time as me. Niemti objected to my removal of some questionable, crufty material and sources (see our conversation on the talk page) and defended it by wikilawyering. S/he seems quite combative and defensive of certain material as you can see on Mai Shiranui's GA review. I'm not saying his/her edits are generally problematic and I'm not bringing this to you as an admin, just giving a friendly heads-up about the problems I had with him/her. In "Kasumi" I found misused and inaccurately used quotations, cruft and original research that did not exist in the stated sources—'Reception' sections seem prone to this kind of thing. The chances are you'll have no problems at all; I hope this is the case for you. Cheers, 21:48, 8 October 2013 (UTC)

Oh joy. Thanks for the heads-up; I checked the GAN (because I always take "I failed solely because of the prose" with a grain of salt) and their talk page. You're right; they don't seem to play too well with others, but I trust they've learned that you can't bully your way to a GA. Don't worry—I can take whatever comes (I hate that animation, but can't find a policy-based reason to remove it :-)). Thanks again and all the best, Miniapolis 22:01, 8 October 2013 (UTC)
No worries; I see you've had the pleasure already. I've read your post on my talk page and will reply there. The animation is...erm...pure class... :-D Cheers,

Do you work for a competitor and why would anyone delete the article when adding books to it.

Did we add the wrong book

What reason do you have to delete when we are working on references. At this point please terminate me form my membership if this is not put back on the site. Thanks for copyediting the article.. A question for you, if you look past the bad grammar and English writing, were there any other big or minor problems with the article? --TIAYN (talk) 15:35, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

The article is very good; the only issues I could see were the relatively few sources cited (I kept seeing the same refs, sometimes the same page cited several times in a sentence) and the large number of red links. The first may not cause you any trouble at GAN and FAC (I think it's a GA now—too bad I can't review it :-)), but I've seen reviewers fuss about a lot of red links. Good luck and all the best, Miniapolis 15:42, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

Trout accepted, as a
learning experience (and they're always fun :-)). I undid your G7 because it looked like the article's creator intended to resubmit and not blank it (so we were both trying to figure out what they intended; in retrospect, I should've left it alone and asked them). I ended up deleting it as G12 (although not an unambiguous copyvio), but it was also a G11 candidate. We'll see if they try to re-create it. Miniapolis

Hi there.

Thanks for reviewing my Instant Company page. This is my first time creating a page for Wiki and have been working on this page for some time. Can you provide me with some guidance as to where I can improve. I read your notes, but I'm still unsure - can you give me some examples? I have been referring to the Regus site for help also. Thanks

Wednesday2013 (talk) 06:37, 24 October 2013 (UTC)Wednesday2013

Hi. I don't know what the Regus site you refer to is, but because Wikipedia ranks high in search-engine algorithms many companies (and people) try to submit articles as
notable for an encyclopedia article. All the best, Miniapolis
13:19, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi Miniapolis, I'm sorry if I'm in the wrong place but I don't really know anyone else to ask.

A few days ago, I made an edit to the above template intending to add a feature allowing it to return a plain url instead of the normal formatted link. Now there are several editors on the talk pqge complaining about the change breaking citation templates--but the template never worked with citation templates in the first place as it returns a formatted url not the plain one those templates require. Going batty has been going round fixing the templates which can't have worked in the first place, so i can't just undo it. Also, its transcluded on over 1000 pages so I'll be wasting server resources. I feel like an idiot--maybe i am. (See my diff on the template and the discussion on the talk) I'm sorry if I'm being annoying. RainCity471 (whack!) 21:33, 25 October 2013 (UTC)

Don't beat yourself up; that's why they put erasers on pencils :-). Template editing is far from my forte, but Jonesey95 (who's a cinch to know more than I do) doesn't seem to think there's much—if any—problem. Keep me posted, and I'll help any way I can. Good luck and all the best, Miniapolis 02:14, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
And I guess why MediaWiki has an undo button, otherwise this would be Vandalpedia because we'd have to start from scratch every time someone blanked a page... Anyway I think I'll keep clear of templates... I like to think I'm fairly technically literate but I obviously don't seem to be: I've got the
Sibelius (software) so it got stuck on a really loud chord. Thanks for all your help and best wishes, RainCity471 (whack!
) 22:54, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
These things happen. The preview button saves me untold embarrassment, but sometimes (especially with templates) you can't tell how something will work until you (gulp) save it. Never forget that there's nothing you can do on WP that can't be undone :-). All the best, Miniapolis 23:43, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
RainCity471: Really, it's not a problem. What you saw as complaining, I saw as "making a note of an unintended consequence of the wonderful, bold work you did to improve our glorious encyclopedia of all world knowledge." Additions of features, even fixing(s?) of bugs, always have unintended consequences that will ruffle someone's feathers (yes, I have feathers). That's life. You did a good thing, and it made a little work for someone else, but if the world (or at least WP) is a better place when you're done, you can sleep well at night. Keep it up! (And M is right: there's always "undo" if everything goes pear-shaped.) – Jonesey95 (talk) 05:38, 27 October 2013 (UTC)
You're right, Jonesey (and I can't speak for RainCity but I think they'd agree now that the omigodwhathaveidone shock has worn off); we all make mistakes, and the important thing is to learn from them. All the best, Miniapolis 14:49, 27 October 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, both of you are right. At the risk of being a bit
WP:BEANSey, even this could be undone... Thanks for all of your help and best wishes, RainCity471 (whack!
) 15:27, 27 October 2013 (UTC)
And Jonesey: sorry I misunderstood you on the template talk page. RainCity471 (whack!) 20:27, 27 October 2013 (UTC)
