Archiving error?
Hi Miniapolis, I wondered if this edit to the GOCE archive page is a mistake; I can't see any evidence of
- Hi, Baffle, and thanks for minding the store. Yes, Aichik on the 23rd with a reference to "another editor" with whom he was working (which I figured was Boris), hence the two dates. This was a first (and, I hope, a last :-)) for me; guess Boris and Aichik got their wires crossed. I discovered the double listing when I was scratching my head trying to figure out why someone might take my {{Working}} tag off the request (although I grabbed it myself, as a pretty-inactive WikiProject Cycling member). All the best, Miniapolis 13:36, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hi, Miniapolis, long time no speak, hi Baffle. My request was for a copy edit on
- Hi, Aichik. I archived Tom Simpson once and blanked it twice; you and BaldBoris had both requested it about two weeks apart. All the best, Miniapolis 01:28, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
- Ah I see; I think you handled that well. I hadn't even noticed there was a double listing, so I was probably asleep when minding the store! The archive might need a little adjustment to see how it affects the sortable table (most likely I'll put '&' between dates and requesters), so I'll have a play and see what happens. Thanks for explaining this odd situation; it's appreciated. ;-) Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 21:13, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
- I wouldn't have noticed it either if I didn't wonder if I had (yet another) senior moment and only thought I added the {{Working}} tag :-). Sorry to put you out; please do whatever's necessary to make the table sort properly (since Boris listed it first and has submitted the GAN, he should probably get the credit if there's only room for one). Have fun and all the best, Miniapolis 21:25, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
- I did indeed have fun. The double dates did upset the table sorting, so I placed the second date after Aichik's name and it's fine now. I also found and fixed some dubious-looking early-2012 dates in the 'request date' column which should've been 2013... D'oh! :-D Thanks again; Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 03:04, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry about that; next time I'm archiving something, I'll take a look at how you fixed it and hopefully we won't have that problem again. Hope none of those bad request dates were mine; I have trouble dating checks when the year flips :-). All the best, Miniapolis 13:50, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

Thanks; no they weren't your entries so no worries. I entered some dodgy dates too (inc. 3013!), but it's all fixed now. :-) Cheers,

Holding the fort
Just a little something to say thank you for holding the fort at the Request page whilst I've been away tackling the monster Peninsular War; it's very much appreciated especially considering your mop duties. :-)

Cheers,
- You were very brave to take on that bear of an article, especially since it looked a bit like a content dispute masquerading as a copyedit request :-). When I joined the GOCE a couple of years ago, the requests backlog was six to eight weeks; now, as we know, it's three months-plus and I'd like to knock that down a bit. Hope your copyedit is going well. Have fun and all the best, Miniapolis 13:45, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks; well it seems to have been a case of someone thinking 'more is better', copying a source verbatim and causing a copyvio problem but I couldn't prove it. I didn't see any evidence of a content dispute in the history but who knows what went on? You're doing a splendid job of reducing the backlog, hopefully the requests will slow down when the schools go back in Sept.:-) Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 19:06, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
- When Dianna mentioned that the article had recently been copyedited, I jumped to the (erroneous) conclusion that it was a content dispute :-). Yes, sometimes you can "smell" a copyvio but finding the source is difficult. And BTW, thanks for the cupcake! All the best, Miniapolis 20:27, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Miniapolis, further to the above copyvio discussion, not that it makes any difference now, you might like to take a look at Baffle gab1978 (talk) 22:07, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the link, especially since I'm trying to become more familiar with SPI and hope to improve my copyvio-smelling ability :-). Good work by Simon. All the best, Miniapolis 01:27, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

Re: Belcourt Castle
Hello there,
About two and a half weeks ago you came to by page because of a help notice I added about Belcourt Castle. I asked the editor to discuss their changes on either one or both of the user accounts but to no avail and with no response whatsoever. Since then, a couple of other editors have reverted what are now obviously disruptive posts. I've been away and just got back. What's the next step since the editor hasn't answered any calls for discussion? I see now that the editor in question has already racked up two blocks yet is continuing with their disruptive behaviour. Thank you :)

Move Cossack Research Center to Hetman Mazepa Cossack Research Center?
Hi, I've started a discussion at Talk:Cossack Research Center as to wheather the article should be moved to Hetman Mazepa Cossack Research Center, as that is how the article talks about the center in the lead. I'm contacting you because I identified you as a major contributor to the article through a script. Thanks, RainCity471report my errorslist of failures 21:50, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

Prashant!'s requests
Hi Miniapolis, I noticed that Prashant! has asked on two of his three current requests (
- Hi, Baffle. Prashant! is quite demanding; I don't mind copyediting his requests when it's my turn, so to speak, but he's mistaken if he thinks I'm his personal copyeditor. Please don't leave them for me, since I'm plugging away at the backlog and don't plan to do any requests until that's knocked down (which we both know probably won't happen this drive :-)). I'll leave a note on his talk page and the requests page. Thanks for the heads-up and all the best, Miniapolis 19:41, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
- No worries; thanks for your reply, and happy plugging away! ;-) Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 20:25, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry Miniapolis, I've quoted the articles incorrectly; I've struck and corrected for the record. All the best :-) Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 22:18, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
- Not to worry; I left notes under the articles in question and on his talk page. It bugs me (and I'm not flattered at all) that he seems to think some copyeditors are better than others. Funny you should mention repeat copyedits; I think I've already done Fashion, but the Bollywood articles run together after a while. All the best, Miniapolis 01:00, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
