DYK for Oman at the 2016 Summer Olympics

On 23 July 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Oman at the 2016 Summer Olympics, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Barakat Al-Harthi missed his layover and lost some of his sports equipment before competing for Oman at the 2016 Summer Olympics? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Oman at the 2016 Summer Olympics. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Oman at the 2016 Summer Olympics), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

GAN Review

Hi MrLinkinPark333: I hope this note finds you well. I saw that you recently quickfailed the English interjections article and it has since been re-nominated. I am relatively new to GAN's so I wanted to ask whether the same reviewer usually completes the second review. I was going to add my name but wanted to make sure I was following proper etiquette and not stepping on your toes in doing so. Thanks in advance for any guidance! Kind regards, PinkElixir (talk) 03:28, 13 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@PinkElixir: Hello there. You can review almost any nomination by other users. An exception per Wikipedia:Reviewing good articles is that you can not review articles you've majorly contributed to. There isnt a specific rule about who can review renominations of past failed GANs. Feel free to review English interjections if you are interested. Thank you for asking :) --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 10:53, 13 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Query

Hello, MrLinkinPark333,

I'm just curious, how do you stumble upon these user pages for editors who have been inactive for years that you tag for deletion? There must be millions and millions of user pages, it's odd that you come across so many promotional ones, just by accident. Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 02:25, 2 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Liz: Hi there! I go through Category:Stale userspace drafts and see if theres ones that either need speedy deletion, histmerge or blank & redirect to existing mainspace articles. For the speedy ones, I look for ones that are easier to determine like self promo and Notwebhost. Other times, I stumble across hoaxes, copyvios and attack pages in this category as well. Thank you for asking :) --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 17:01, 2 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I came to ask you about these old hoax articles and found I already asked and you answered! Going through Category:Stale userspace drafts doesn't sound like the most exciting project but I'm glad someone is looking at these neglected pages and trying to figure what to do with them. With 36,023 pages, it's a huge job! Liz Read! Talk! 02:17, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Liz: Yeah. I'm mainly trying to get the backlog removed. I hope that other users do go through this category, but I haven't found anyone who is working on it. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 02:20, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding recent hoaxes you found, see this discussion from ANI in 2018 that involves some of the same accounts I see in the page histories of the user pages you tagged. Crazy that we are still cleaning up from a three year old attempt to create fake articles about TV shows & schools. Liz Read! Talk! 21:40, 11 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Liz: Wow! I only found them as I searched specifically in Stale userspace drafts for Emmy Awards. I happened to look at the page history and found multiple users in the same draft. It's unfortunate that this has been going on for years :/ Thank you for letting me know! --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 22:42, 11 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Your G10

I think you have fundamentally misinterpreted G10 on that old userbox of mine (and judgements like that really should be made at MFD) However, I do not agree with the sentiment anymore and will CSD it according to G7. Etzedek24 (I'll talk at ya) (Check my track record) 03:07, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Etzedek24: Hello! To me, the wording seem very negative and not appropriate for a template, so that's why I thought a speedy G10 was the best option. Thank you for leaving an explanation as to why you felt it was not the case :) --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 03:10, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I see that point, and to be fair I made it when I was a very new user without knowledge of the various policies. But something like that (which could come down to someone's opinion about the tone) is best left to
MFD, in my opinion. Etzedek24 (I'll talk at ya) (Check my track record) 03:20, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply

(Not so) Compromised Account

I have replied to your post on the administrators' userboard. Would also like to add that you are always free to check my contributions history and you will find that none of my edits have anything to do with "hoaxes". I have created multiple (non-hoax) articles, have been responsible for getting a discography promoted to featured list status (Backstreet Boys discography), and have made numerous other constructive contributions, including to Linkin Park- related articles, over the years. Currently using my userpage for private reasons listed in my post on the administrators' userboard, which I feel entitld to do, it being my own userpage. Cheers. KingdomHearts25 (talk) 06:59, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Update: I apologise for replying on the noticeboard without actually checking out the discussion relating to Revengers Tragedy. It was clearly a mistake, not a hoax, I can assure you and involved me mistaking the album for the song after looking at an Amazon listing, which I added as a reference in the article. I was relatively new to editing Wikipedia at the time, and must have made the error in zest, as I recall hurriedly going about editing and creating a few articles in my newfound-enthusiasm as a Wikipedia editor at the time. Sincerely apologise for the inconvenience. Cheers KingdomHearts25 (talk) 08:03, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I Think There's Been A Murder ~ "See the place that corrupted us." by Jay-Fucking-Z

You see, user's keep calling me vandal or thug or whatever. Now you have. That hurts my feelings, and gives me negative emotions. Why would you go around putting people down like that. Fuck that, don't autopost allegations when you talk to me. Use your words please. Like this. I wrote the [JFK Library] and had it promoted to good in one go. I have access to so many libraries and paywall journals, and I even read every fucking spending bill. Right now I feel reminded of the crackers that stare at me for having a fro or cornrows, or fucked up cornrows and boroughbred. Why do I have to break their tensed muscles with a gaze back in my best fake-Japanese-politeness, "Hello, good morning! He's friendly. We don't bite!" I seem to say to no one as a walk away. Engaged, on my block with the same damn dog, in the wrong way. You see what the fuck people do to my page, and you think that makes it okay? No, hell nah! Please purge the allegations made against me. I use my real name on this dope ass project, and Google indexes this shit. It's like character assassination, are you going to pay for me to have my social credit score remedied? I would like people to stop accusing me intentionally fucking up Wikipedia. This place is becoming as corrupting as this white supremest protocol we're playing along with. Show me what happened, let's figure it out? Or leave it to me if your investigational skills haven't changed. Thank you. Louis Waweru  Talk  21:01, 9 November 2021 (UTC) – PS even change comments locked down? I can't leave my own comments now? Man this is my project too. I'm not some avatar, or binary delusion. You come at with with a bot, and control my very last action with a bot. That's some anti-social shit. I don't think it's in keeping with the spirit of the project, and suggest you think about modifying your patrolling style.[reply]

@Louis Waweru I'm assuming your issue with Linkin is him nominating User:Popride2/Technical Difficulty for speedy deletion as vandalism, and adding this speedy deletion notice to your talk. I'm an administrator, I can see the deleted histories of pages. Looking at that page, it looks like you created it when you moved content to it from Popride2's userpage. Popride2 proceeded to add nonsense quotes and gibberish to it. Linkin patrols stale userspace drafts, and probably saw the draft and (rightfully) tagged it for deletion. When pages are tagged for speedy deletion, the creator will be given a message, and since you created the page, you were given the speedy deletion notice. He must've not noticed you were the creator, instead assuming Popride2 was the creator (after all, it's unusual for one user to create a draft in another's userspace) and that they would instead be informed. I think this was a simple accident and Linkin meant no harm. Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 21:26, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that seems right. I made sure to comment "please read

@Louis Waweru: In regards to User:Popride2/Technical Difficulty, I used Wikipedia:Twinkle, which auto-generates messages for speedy deletion. If this userpage was in your userspace after moving (I can not see deleted revisions as I am not an adminsitrator), it is possible that Twinkle gave you the speedy warning instead of Popride2. I believed it was a hoax so I speedy nominated it. The administrator who deleted your userpage, deleted it under criteria for deletion U5: Misuse of Wikipedia as a web host. If you believe this userpage should not have been deleted, you can always ask the administrator, User:Athaenara for a second opinion as well. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 21:31, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Is that administrators job to monitor your work? Do you want her to validate your usage of flagrant attacks old-timers? Louis Waweru  Talk  21:39, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Louis Waweru: In regards to User talk:MrLinkinPark333#Query, any speedy deletion pages are listed at Category:Candidates for speedy deletion. It's up to the administrators to decide what to do with these pages. User:Liz was curious about the nominations I've found, and I replied there as well. If you are wondering, there are policies that state what is not allowed in Wikipedia. See for example Wikipedia:User_pages#What_may_I_not_have_in_my_user_pages? and Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion. These speedy deletion criteria can also apply to userspace pages, such as hoaxes, copyvio, and not web host pages. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 21:54, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@MrLinkinPark333 Okay, no rush. I would love to see what provoked you to take this action against me. If you don't have the edit, hopefully you made a personal note. Since you claimed I committed legal violations I am less hopeful that even an administrator will be about to retrieve it.
I hope you can see how vulgarity is interpreted here. I purposefully chose to let you know that you are not creating an "atmosphere of collaboration" with your extremely-severe Twinkle actions. It's disgusting that the tool is being used in this way. I have to let you know that this type of behavior is extremely offensive and the complete lack of respect for using the tool, by deceptively prompting me in to a disadvantaged position is also not creating an "atmosphere of collaboration."
I had to let you know that I hold you accountable since no one else will. And I will eat the BS-claims of direct personal attacks to demonstrate, TWO USERS left the warning on the victim's page.
If you are unwilling to create an atmosphere of collaboration, as in with a human being, taking part in a mutual goal, leave me a lone.
If that is a personal attack, oh well, fuck it. You deserve the most vulgar response for what you did. I have no obligation to be polite my fucking personal attackers. I'm only obligated to make an example of how irresponsible and offensive it is to portray random users to being portrayed as violators of the worst sort, claiming I'm such a criminal that the offense is unambiguously a legal situation that needs to be dealt with with haste.
Why did you do that? No rush to answer the question. I honestly want to know why you made a series of bad-faith, harmful decision after bad-faith, harmful decision. Finally confirming with Twinkle, that you did anything but compare a new page with a source/reference file, notice a match, ignore that it is NYC Code, which is law and in the public domain.
So eager were you to send me off to be convicted, that you didn't bother to read the other 2,000 Bytes?
Anyway, there is a process for me to uncover you claimed needed to be censored for legal reasons. I would like to be able to show you why you can't run on autopilot with the copyvio tool. Over 2,000 bytes seems to be my original prose that remains in the opening paragraph today.
I personally don't see the value in you using the tool for a while. If the process agrees that there was no violation, and is free of bias, able to recognize abuse of scripts is damaging to perplexed recipients, and that if this happened anywhere but online you would be in violation of my civil rights, for basically seizing my agency to participate on Wikipedia. I think my vulgar remarks were just that, but used with a purpose of creating a discussion instead of some Wiki-FISA court, where I unjustly have the Prez tell some enlistee to engage the target and fire, from across the country.
I think that's basically what you did. Except my father is as deserving as non-sensical censorship or a drone strike as I am for simply being near him. If that is politicizing, I'll remove the last two or three sentences. Unfortunately, this is an accurate analogy of what your actions feel like for your victims.
Louis Waweru  Talk  23:33, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Louis Waweru: I look through Category:Stale userspace drafts for drafts that fall under one of three categories: 1) Userspace drafts that require speedy deletion (i.e. hoaxes, spam, copyviolations, attack pages). These criteria are are Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion. I will ask for speedy deletion for userspace drafts of both inactive and active users only if they fall under category 1. 2) Userspace drafts that already has an article and created by the same user. If the user is an inactive user, I request Template:History merge to be performed. Otherwise, if the user is active, I'll leave it alone. 3) Userspace drafts that already has an article and was created by another user. If the user is active, I'll leave it be and only blank/redirect inactive users page if they require it. The guidelines that I follow can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Abandoned_Drafts#Stale_userspace_drafts. For User:Popride2/Technical Difficulty, this falls under category 1 for me as I believed it was a hoax. In terms of the user warning I gave you about what I believed was a hoax at User:Popride2/Technical Difficulty, Template:Uw-hoax is the Huggle warning. The wording that's there is the default text and not in my own words. In regards to Uniform Land Use Review Procedure, I was not the user that requested this article to be deleted due to copyvio reasons, nor removed content that was believed to be a copyvio. You would need to speak to User:Sphilbrick if you disagree with the outcome. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 23:59, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I had you two confused. I agree with the reasoning.
It's just the messaging left by the tool is accusatory and presumes the user should be punished.
Thank you for the link to the template. I'll try to think about how it can be improved to consider the innocent.

personal attacks. A user accidentally tagging you when tagging a page for speedy deletion will not get you blocked, but saying things like "I Just Wanna Say Fuck You For Purging My Original Work" "Please let me know if I have any better form of recourse than telling to fuck off my contributions. Later e-cop. How do I fire you?" will. Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 21:40, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply

Of course they are not okay, but they are necessary to illustrate the equivalence to statements like this:
A tag has been placed on
section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.nyc.gov/html/mancb2/downloads/pdf/handbook_appendices_2006.pdf. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Louis Waweru  Talk  21:47, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply
]
Please see the document, and my contribution, and let me know where the copyright infringement is.
You'll have to click the PDF for Community Board 2's Minutes of their contribution to NYC protocols and culture.
Public minutes, by the way. I can post the document verbatim to Wikimedia or the Internet Archive and that would NEVER be copyright infringement.
Still, the point is I didn't steal anyone's words. It's work that sourced. His attack on me is completely unsourced. Can you at least quote a line stole from CB2 Manhattan. Louis Waweru  Talk  21:53, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I read the link, but have to disagree with you that it is a personal attack.
The only threats were made against me, lazily, for automating what the carefully crafted language of law?
Rephrasing attack on me, with expansion: Louis, unambiguous copyright infringement, such a blatant offense, warrants you be sent to the court for the most serious undeniable offenders.
And he sent me there advising the court that I legally compromised the project to which I belong, and for "For legal reasons" my work "will most likely be deleted" due to unambiguous copyright infringement.
What is this if not a meaningless attack. One this is turning into a pattern and requires my intervention to prevent it. Louis Waweru  Talk  22:18, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
