Edit warring warning

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Daniel Hayes shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

Daniel Hayes

To keep some of this junk off Fram's talk page:

It is not true that Hayes has been on Wikipedia "since 2002", as you write. (He would only have been 13 if the 1989 birth date was correct).

It is not true that I have been reverting "almost every single edit" on the page for the last year. I first edited the page in April, under 3 months ago, and multiple editors have reverted this promotional junk, not just me.

As regards his birth date, can you explain why the previous obvious shills who've edited the page had it as 1985, or why his manager put out a press release in 2011 saying he was 25?

Fram this is in response to the last post you made about "awards". Please clarify the reason because you reverted the page to the older version which also had the same awards listed but it was not an issue for Wikipedia previously. Here is the old content still on the page now after your last change "The film has gone on to win awards in the Hollywood International Independent Documentary Awards, and the Festigious International Film Competition Los Angeles. The Honey Badger  will be shown at North Hollywood CineFest, Canadian Film Fest and the Accolade Global Film Competition." After 24 hours we will simplify the content further, although we had already deleted the date of birth we want to meet your new awards guidelines. Are you saying we can no longer list career awards on the page? Please clarify if the content about "awards" still on the page needs to be removed completely based on your following comment (removed "awards" given out to hundreds of entries every month). NO44 07:36, 29 June 2017 (UTC) 15:49, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

Please, after your block, make your edit suggestions at
WP:COI
. I try to keep the article neutral and factual, and the "awards" I removed are from a company which gives out a massive number of "awards" every month, which means that they are not distinctive or authoritative ion any way, but just a way to boost the supposed importance and quality of a movie or documentary. Whether the other awards are important enough to be listed should be researched, at first glance they seem to be somewhat more selective at least.
But nearly everything you added was problematic, making the article read like a promo text or the kind of biography one finds on a fansite or a personal website, not something a neutral observer would write.
So, for the final time, please don't edit the article any mlonger but use the talk page instead.

Thanks Fran the issue is his nationality Trinidadian, his birth place: Trinidad and Tobago cannot be updated on the Talk Page these are the updates we are trying to make. In addition the information under the current awards is outdated its showing the following "The Honey Badger  will be shown at North Hollywood CineFest, Canadian Film Fest and the Accolade Global Film Competition" this is old information the showing was done in March 2017 that's why we are trying to update the old content on the page. Please advise how these changes can be done to 1/ add nationality, 2/ add place of birth, 3/ update his old occupation to Athlete, Motivational Speaker and Host 4/ to delete outdated content that is no longer relevant. NO44 07:36, 29 June 2017 (UTC) 16:14, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

These are the kind of requests you need to make, after your block has expired, at the article talk page. Some, like the outdated festival information, shouldn't be a problem. Something like his nationality and place of birth will be more of an issue. This 2010 press release claims he is a Toronto-born actor, and then 25 years old (i.e. born in 1985, not 1989). See e.g. also this article.
Fram (talk) 16:44, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply

Great! After the 24 hours I will post the request for edits we need made so you can review them first and let us know if adding the nationality, place of birth, new title and removing the outdated content meets your guidelines. If the edits are rejected we would need to delete the page completely since the current content is not accurate. Thanks for your assistance NO44 07:36, 29 June 2017 (UTC) 16:53, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

"If the edits are rejected we would need to delete the page completely since the current content is not accurate. " That is not your call at all though. That the current content doesn't match the myth-making intended by some people seemingly working on behalf of the subject is the problem of badly done myth-making and stories which change too often (how is his Olympic career working out, by the way?).
Fram (talk) 17:26, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply
]

You are making a good point except that in this case there is no bad faith and no one is trying to exaggerate their career achievements, promotion is not needed when a person is already at that level of success in business and I appreciate your suggestions for the next edits request. I was advised that there were people involved previously in updating the page who wrote some of the "Olympic" statements you are referring to and one of them made a mistake with the date of birth 1985 that you have on file. My only goal is to bring the page back to an accurate content level now that you have clarified all the issues to me. I am not in a position to question the integrity of someone based on the information that was given to me and the facts in the media articles written about Mr Hayes. 17:47, 26 June 2017 NO44 07:36, 29 June 2017 (UTC)

All evidence contradicts you.
Fram (talk) 17:51, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply

Fran as a lawyer I think the term evidence is used in a criminal investigation and we are not in a criminal investigation. I politely ask for a TONE RESET as we work with you to bring the content issues to a better quality level. We will submit the request for new edits as you previously advised. NO44 07:36, 29 June 2017 (UTC) 17:55, 26 June 2017 (UTC) Thank you again

Of course, the word "evidence" is used in all manner of contexts (something a real lawyer would know). Between this and the mention of slander at Fram's talk page, I suspect a final downfall on
WP:NOLEGAL (which you should read) is coming. Pinkbeast (talk) 18:04, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply

Thank you Fram we will continue the discussion with Wikipedia Administrators working on the issues and we value your respectful and professional input. Have a great day!NO44 07:36, 29 June 2017 (UTC) 18:08, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for edit warring, as you did at Daniel Hayes. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may request an unblock by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.  — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 10:28, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Martin I have no intention to continue using Wikipidea after this issue is resolved we are just awaiting confirmation from you that the final update to the page meets the guidelines. I am completely turned off by the language your representative are using with users on your behalf "to keep some of this junk off Fram's talk page..... have reverted this promotional junk" NANGA (talk) 10:45, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you using the pronoun "we"? Usernames are supposed to be for individuals; please see Wikipedia:Username policy — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 10:47, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
And no, the latest version is not up to Wikipedia's standards as it is not neutrally written. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to revert it. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 10:49, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello please advise if the 24 hours period has expired or not. Thank you NANGA (talk) 08:36, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Delete User Page & Account

Hello Administrators, Please advise how to delete the user page NANGA and contributor account from Wikipedia. I am using a different platform at this time for encyclopedia work projects there is no need for this user account to remain active online. Thank you for the answerNO44 17:37, 19 July 2017 (UTC)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:FAQ#How_do_I_change_my_username.2Fdelete_my_account.3F Pinkbeast (talk) 18:10, 19 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It appears that the only option available on this site is to request a username changed since deletion is not an option or adding the reference it is not clear exactly where the reference needs to be listed on the page I am requesting a username change to GoodbyeNO44.2600:8802:200:3970:80CB:EC7B:363F:FA23 (talk) 18:24, 19 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It looks to me like you want to change your user account name. Deleting your user page does not delete the user account. Please see Wikipedia:Changing username. There is a section at the bottom named "Venues". Select one of those and make your request per the instructions. — Maile (talk) 20:35, 19 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have a link you can post for your VENUES section I do not see it at the bottom of any page. 2600:8802:200:3970:80CB:EC7B:363F:FA23 (talk) 20:41, 19 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It's on the page I linked. You have to scroll down to the bottom of the page. There is a section titled "Venues", and gives you a selection of 4 different ways to change your user name. Everything that is above the Venues section is advice on which selection of best for you to use. But if you've having trouble seeing it, I'll copy and paste it below for you. — Maile (talk) 20:49, 19 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Venues:

It's important to choose the right venue for your request; otherwise, it may be delayed or declined. Once you are sure, proceed to the correct venue and follow the instructions there:

Delete the user page and username NANGA I do not find the site useful and productive and no longer wish to have an active user account. If deleting the username is not an option then rename to GOODBYEN044. NO44 20:59, 19 July 2017 (UTC)The request for deletion was declined but there was a request to either delete or RENAME to GOODBYEN044. I guess everything is declined? NO44 21:17, 19 July 2017 (UTC)

Must read

  • A rename moves your contributions and userspace pages to a new name, and preserves your account preferences.
  • If the job queue is very busy, it might take a number of hours before the software re-assigns all your contributions to your new name.
  • Using your
real name as a username may put you at risk of harassment
    .

Limitations and restrictions:

Please consider the following alternatives to a rename:

  • Although your username cannot begin with a lowercase letter, try placing {{
    lowercase
}} on your userpage in order to display it that way.
  • If you simply want to change your "public appearance" on talk pages, you can change your
    username policy
    .
  • If you want to retire from Wikipedia, place {{
    wishing to vanish completely
, perhaps by way of a rename to a random character string, are an exception to this rule.
  • Users who have made very few edits are encouraged to register a new account and discard the old one. You can even
copy your old watchlist to your new account. See Wikipedia:Clean start
    for additional rules and details.

Other things to consider:

Offer

Hi NANGA,

We don't really delete accounts here; we need to keep all the edits (and who made them) for attribution purposes. We also don't delete user talk pages. And, for the trifecta, we don't really rename users to things like "Goodbye411" or "RetiredUser123" (see "Please consider the following alternatives to a rename" section above).

BUT, you can certainly either just blank this talk page, or put a {{retired}} banner on it, if you want. And, then just walk away. Or, if you'd like me to, I can block this account from editing, with a block log rationale "User has retired and asked for this account to be blocked". That's a little more final than just walking away, if it helps. Let me know if you'd like me to do that. --Floquenbeam (talk) 21:42, 19 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
