There's a remarkable density of NRHP sites in downtown, I agree...and it seems like they add more every year. I think I used to pass maybe three on the way to the office, when I worked at ICE...which isn't bad, considering I passed maybe five buildings total on that walk. DC's funny about it, though...lots of government buildings make the list, but the local historical society sometimes lags a lot more than I'd expect. Like with the Mary E. Surratt Boarding House - that wasn't listed until after I graduated college, and I know it's been around long enough... (Good restaurant, by the way, for the next time you're in the neighborhood.) I have no idea what happened to Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Dragonlance articles by quality log. The log says you deleted it on the 30th, and it somehow got autopatrolled at the same time. I don't do a lot of userspace/draft work, but I was under the impression that we typically don't allow drafts of live articles as a userpage if it was live in article space like at Plaza Ventures. Please revert your removal of information in the FXCM article. The company was once the largest retail FX broker in the US. It was kicked out of the US by the US regulator the CFTC in early February for lying to their customers "fraudulent misrepresentation". Until then it was based in the US. It's not news anymore (their declared paid editor has stated as much). It's more like a death sentence - and our readers deserve to know that their existence is at best precarious. They are hanging on in the UK and probably Australia, probably trying to sell off a few pieces of the business. They don't really release much info these days. About 70% of their customers lose money each month (from self-reported US figures). In short, it's a rip-off firm that got caught. I have no legal problem saying that, because they are prohibited from denying the facts, or even casting doubt on the facts, as presented in the CFTC order.

I'm sure we've discussed my professional background before. I'd be happy to send you my (OR) financial analysis of the firm. You don't want to help these guys rip off more customers, do you?

It's the information available in the press and in SEC reports. Before they were kicked out of the US for lying to their customers, it was all essentially a self-sourced ad. Obviously the old info was questionable at best at that point. The article had been deleted twice before for not being notable. Now that they are notable, we use the best sources available. I don't quite understand "the article needs to be written from secondary sources, not primary sources like news reports". There are certainly some of the best sources of financial info in the article. Reuters, Bloomberg, the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal, Market Watch (also part of Dow Jones), the New York Times. Admittedly, when the stuff hit the fan in February, and FXCM essentially stopped talking to the press, there was a dearth of good secondary sources. But there are primary sources, e.g. the regulators, CFTC, reports FXCM has to file with the SEC, the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK. The regulatory reports generally have penalties for fraud or perjury involved if they are falsely filed by FXCM.

As far as "righting great wrongs" - I see it as correcting paid editors tendency to place ads on Wikipedia. See

Didn't realize it was quite so bad. I don't get down there very often, but we found ourselves in Martin County a couple of years ago, and I did a run around the county seat. Got six sites, as I recall...those six, plus one more, remain the only illustrated sites in the county list, last I checked. SO, I have some nice pics and some more data to add. My understanding has been that statuary would be the only potential no no in a pic for updating an article. Hey Again Nyttend, so I found this article in Wikipedia....https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abraham_Lincoln_Walks_at_Midnight. And ta da, the statue is shown, in front of the WV Capitol Complex. It just so happens I did some more photography of the Lincoln statue and did not see ANY copyright date. They are titled with the items first because the claimants appealed the decision of lower courts to the Supreme Court, and normally cases take the Appellant v. Appellee pleading format regardless of who originally filed the case. This also happens in criminal cases a lot since they get into the appellate courts because the original defendant appealed their conviction. Take Jacobson v. United States, another one from my watchlist. Jacobson couldn't charge the United States with a crime and prosecute it, after all. Daniel Case (talk) 03:23, 29 July 2017 (UTC)

I spoke with Joe Geiger, Director of archives West Virginia Division of Culture and History. He is fine with any historic image of the state capitol building I wish to use on wikipedia (WAY before 1923) from the archives, as long as I am able to do 2 things 1) keep the watermark if there is one on the picture and 2) mention them as the source along with their web link

Can you point me to someone, or show me how, in the upload wizard, what I need to indicate so that the pic I upload is not removed from the article West Virginia State Capitol???

It's an easy fix to make, certainly - and I'm not even sure I'd class it as cosmetic. Getting it incorporated into AWB I don't know about...what I might suggest is just throwing it in whenever running another AWB process. The Cole, should be Coke...oooops. It is not necessarily accessible by highway...yes, Burnmeister road is near Beckley,West Virginia and you can drive down it. Then you go through the town proper and then you kind of jump off the GPS mapping and its there....You could then drive a few more yards and find the main road, so, technically its not so remote..However, its the only building I know of in public that has swastikas (what are calle that but are not as they are the luck symbol) all over it..UNLESS yoyu know of anther building in WV that has them as a main building edifice on its outside?Coal town guy (talk) 01:22, 10 August 2017 (UTC)

Read your reply, I totally understand where you are coming from. Maps are OK things, but I agree with you, there are "current" maps that indeed show, oh its near a road. THEN you get there. Princewick, WV, nice place to photograph, is on a road, BUT, the road is built INTO a hill. Ergo, you have to walk across people back yards to even get a pic of the church. This article contained an introduction explaining the scope and importance of the list, an entry to the list, additional information about the entry, an image, and multiple references. I think these qualities collectively add up to a valid stub. Administrator User:Anthony Appleyard felt the same way and undeleted it after a contentious user recently tagged it for speedy deletion. • No. It wasn't a list: it was a one-sentence header text (not even about Nevada), and a little bit about one animal. For a "List of X" page, the list is the substantive content, and without a list, you have nothing, unless you want to move the page to a non-list normal article title and develop it thus (e.g. "Animals and plants living in Nevada") or you want to move the content to another article. Please don't put a page into mainspace until it's at least basically useful; it would be fine to have something as simple as "This is a list of taxa described from Nevada" with a bunch of bulleted links to various species, like an early version of List of counties in Nevada. on RD/H. I'm a bit late to the party and the answer is complicated, but if you're interested, I can give it to you. The TLDR version is quite simple: the OT text gives David's logical explanation why the showbread is permitted to him and the looong version just explains his logic and finds it faultless, which is:

1. The bread is permitted to him as they've misunderstood the law and he's in the required level of purity
2. In any case if he wasn't in the correct level of purity, he could eat it because of pikuach nefesh, as the only available food

Rashi gives a small amount of help, but the main version is in Menachot 95b, which unfortunately is not yet on Wikisource. Lmk if you want a short version of the long version.

The Jesus story differs in several ways, from a traditional Jewish perspective:

1. He doesn't attempt to argue that there's a legitimate reason for harvesting on the Sabbath
2. He jumps straight to David's second argument, which if correct, would indeed have applied to Jesus and his followers
3. He then adds a third argument which from a Jewish perspective doesn't work, that because priests in the Temple could perform certain actions normally prohibited on the Sabbath, so could they. That is not a normative Jewish argument. --

Hi Nyttend. Is there a place where one can look up what new user names have been registered in the past few days and what areas/ pages the new users are editing? I am tracking two users who, one who routinely ditches the name whenever he feels that he is running into too much resistance over his posts; the other for the same reason, thought the term "routinely" would not apply, he has done so only once. However, neither has edited for a while, and they are normally very active, so I suspect they might have resurfaced under new names. This was the conversation, just in case you don't remember - Wikipedia:Help desk/Archives/2017 August 3#Unable to edit at public library, because the IP is believed to be a "web host provider". What does this mean, and is there a solution?. The IP address for the library is User:159.203.61.230. I'm not sure how these things are typically handled, but someone might want to look into removing the block, so that other editors are able to use Wikipedia, while in the library.
