Retirement

I hope you'll reconsider. Read my reply to you on my talk page. Don't let them win. You know they'll eventually grow up or get bored and move on, it's not worth it to give up such an important hobby as Wikipedia. Go ahead and cut back a bit, relax, take it easy, but please don't leave for good! -- œ 00:04, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Sanjay Gagnani

I had started an Article for Sanjay Gagnani who is a noted model/actor and also a friend of mine which was deleted and blocked. Request you to unblock the same so that I can complete the article citing proper references in adherence to wiki guidelines as he is someone quite notable and a budding star. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tinasinster (talkcontribs) 06:24, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Wendy Starling

You retired and left a page fully protected without any real good reason- all the vandalism was coming from IP's. Your action was not in line with protection policy or common practice, and I reverted your administrative action as necessary. You have returned and abused your administrative powers twice- whatever you want to call this edit, vandalism is one description that will not fly. Second, you have reverted a reverted administrative action with exactly zero vandalism in between the two actions- the very technical definition of a

wheel war. At best, you are locking pages from other non-admin editors out of a real desire to protect the subject from the junk the IP's were putting in. At worse, you are using your administrative powers to control the content of an article. Either way, this is not the proper use of your admin tools- please revert your last change in the page's protection level. Courcelles

Would you mind if I set the semi-protection and PC2 back to infinite, so in case you're not here, I don't have to remember to reapply it again in six months? (And, yes, I am actively monitoring the article for the garbage edits.) OTRS will help, though honestly a few active eyes are all that really appear to be needed; waiting four days and ten edits is enough of a hurdle to stop most nonsense, and I'm perfectly willing to drop the hammer on anyone that does jump it and make a mess. Sorry I came on a little too strong- my wording was a little too far above. Courcelles 04:27, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
Okay, extended to indefinite semi and PC2. That'll keep the people who wish ill for Ms. Starling away. Courcelles 10:32, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

PP

Heya,

We spoke recently, and I'm looking for a favour from a few random Wikipedia editors...

There's a liaison project between Wikipedia and some universities (currently, USA, and re 'public policy' - it's a trial) - the students write an article as part of their uni course.

Two specific courses have only a few weeks left, and I'm trying to help them; what they need is, comments and feedback on their two articles - and some interaction with the Wikipedia community. Hence, getting random folks involved might really help!

The article Education policy in Brazil (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) was started by Elizabetsyatbu (talk · contribs),

The article

talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) is, re. lorink (talk · contribs) abond112 (talk · contribs) Dross33 (talk · contribs
)

If you could provide any comments, feedback, suggestions, or other interaction - to help with this - that'd be superb.

I hope you don't mind my asking. Any little comments to those users, and/or on the article talk pages, would be brilliant; thanks so much in anticipation.  Chzz  ►  06:05, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

Thanks very much for responding. There's really no huge rush - although the course only runs for 2 more weeks, so in terms of the specific course, any developments need to happen in that timeframe. Any help is greatly appreciated; you'll see that others have already commented - and that's great; the idea is, to provoke more involvement in Wikipedia for those specific students within the short remaining time. Thanks again for responding.  Chzz  ►  02:06, 19 April 2011 (UTC)

Deletion of Probation Board for Northern Ireland

Sorry to disturb you but i was wondering why you deleted the page on Probation for Northern Ireland?

I am new to wiki and i am still learning the process so i accept i will inevitably get things wrong.

The reason for a speedy deletion with no discussion was under G11 promotional or advertising. PBNI is a public sector agency (government) and was unaware the information would be deemed advertising seeing they do not sell anything.

Regarding your deletion of Kirsten Price (musician)

Hi, a user came by on my talk page requesting I drop the create-protection on

Kirsten price (musician). I was a bit confused by the situation here, it looks like you deleted the article as a G3-Vandalism, and then placed the create-protection on it, stating that it was repeatedly recreated (that was the only deletion that I had seen, are there other names that I should be looking at?). I'm confused why the G3 (it was probably more under advertising, considering the account that created it was Kirsten Price Music). Just wanted to touch base.. if it's ok, go ahead and let me know it's ok (or just do it for the requester), otherwise, let me know what I'm missing. Thanks! SirFozzie (talk

Meanie

Back in time: "02:14, 6 November 2009 PMDrive1061 (Talk | contribs) protected "Meanie" [create=sysop] (indefinite) ‎ (Repeatedly recreated)"

I came across this as I tried to set up a soft redirect for the word. As it's been transwikied to Wiktionary and as it's most unlikely that there'll ever be a worthwhile article ever written here it seemed the best way to deal with it. In this case could you lift the protection to allow this to happen? Best Wishes S a g a C i t y (talk) 19:54, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

Meanie now in play. Thanks for quick response S a g a C i t y (talk) 16:15, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

I'm not a sysop and can't look at the previously deleted version of this page to see who created it, but since the current creator first edited after you deleted it the first time earlier today, and it's still a copyvio, I suspect there might be some puppetry going on. Just FYI. Regards, TRANSPORTERMAN (TALK) 18:34, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

I was reviewing the AFC submission Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Gene's Beaver Floral and it came to my attention that it was substantially identical to the google cache of Gene's Beaver Floral which you deleted G12. I have been unable to locate the source material that is being copied (the CorenSearchBot url in the cache did not have the material, at least in the version I found), though the indents make it clear it came from somewhere. I was wondering if you had any additional information. If you review it and determine the G12 was appropriate, you may want to delete the AFC as well. Monty845 22:02, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

I recently created "04101", which is the zip code for Portland, Maine. "04101" redirected to Portland's page. I don't really care if the page is deleted or not, but I don't see how making an accurate redirect that doesn't take away from any other pages in any way is "Destructive" or "Inappropriate". I'm not asking for undeletion, but could I please have an explanation? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lynkynpark86 (talkcontribs) 22:37, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Thoughts on User:Maheshkumaryadav's village articles

We have been having a fun time focusing his energy on contributions that improve the encyclopedia. I think sometimes he feels a little persecuted because of the number of POV things we had to delete from his early contributions. I agree with what you did on the police articles, but please consider backing off on the villages for a bit. Hopefully he gets our hints about geocordinates and figures that out, but this is one of the first batches of extremely positive edits he has made, whereas everything else has been very much on the border. Thank you for stopping him on the police articles though :P Sadads (talk) 15:11, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

Multiple lists split from List_of_schools_in_India

Hi, have you any suggestions as to how the numerous recent, non-consensual splits from List_of_schools_in_India can be deleted? CSD A10 is not applicable, so I presume that they will have to be PRODed? The main article seems rather pointless to me, but the splits definitely are so until consensus emerges. I think it is a reasonable request.Shyamsunder (talk) 10:09, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
Agree on this score. I think the deletion may have been an error resulting from the CSD of a mainspace article with a similar title. Having said that, the userspace version was likely never going to make it to mainspace because Mahesh was showing no signs of seeking consensus + all the other issues raised recently in his AN/I report (which seems now to be heading towards a block on his creation of new articles for the foreseeable). PMDrive1061's action may have been unintended, but given the problems created by Mahesh recently, despite the intervention and advice of numerous experienced contributors, it is a drop in the ocean. I would support restoring the userspace item simply because it is The Right Thing To Do. - Sitush (talk) 10:22, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Unreferenced articles going unnoticed

I am very curious how so many unsourced articles were allowed to enter the system unchallenged. The editor is not autopatrolled. I've worked New Page Patrol a year back, and we would have tagged these on the spot. Is the system breaking down? Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:43, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

Mass deletion of village stubs

You mentioned mass deletion of the village stubs. Is that possible or were you just venting your ire? The batch of 472 pretty much all need to go & Anna did prepare a list that seemed pretty complete to me. Even if Mahesh had the desire to expand them, he has pretty much admitted that he will not. Since they contain no references, no co-ordinates etc and neither Anna nor me were able to find any earlier today, I think that they need to go. Am watcing, no need for TB. - Sitush (talk) 18:44, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

I thought that you might like to read this also. This is a second round of (trivial) canvassing by Mahesh. I just do not care for his assumption that these are some sort of anti-India or India-igorance situation. He simply is not getting the point that they are crap articles etc. - Sitush (talk) 16:25, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
I too have been following his pleas at India-related pages. My, my. Such competent edits on talk pages. Planning, strategy, digging up guidelines, etc. Quite the opposite in the main space -- rules, guidelines, all seemingly unread. Communicative when it favours him, while aloof the rest of the time. Inquiry about Mahesh

Could you please take a look at User Talk:Anna Frodesiak#My question at ANI? I'm either confused about the exact sequence of events regarding Mahesh, or something is amiss, because I'm not understanding what was wrong with those articles you deleted, especially since it seems that they are sourced and they were created prior to the article creation ban being formally enacted. I intentionally started this secondary discussion off of ANI to bring down the drama level, but can re-raise it there. Qwyrxian (talk) 22:07, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

Mentoring

So long as it's zero expenditure on our part, zero possibility of further damage, and some potential of useful contribs, I am in favour of Qwyrxian mentoring. It appears to be the only avenue for a possible repayment of lost hours.

Just to let you know, this hasn't changed my opinions about this editor at all. Not a whim, not a whit, not a morsel, not a bit. Talk is cheap. His deeds were expensive. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:31, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

Isn't that the truth? Unless I get Twinkle, I'm going to be deleting those talk pages one at a time. If I don't get Twinkle, I have a new hobby.  :) Seriously, this entire issue has taken up far too much time and I applaud Qwyrxian's efforts. I can get behind mentorship as opposed to an outright ban and no, my opinion hasn't changed either. It will change if and when he starts being truly productive in quality and starts working within the guidelines. Lord knows I've made mistakes and gotten reamed for them. In every instance, I accepted responsibility for the error. I hope Mahesh learns to do the same. --

Are you sure about your delete of Bishanpura? I realise that it had no references but it did have a set of coords and those did resolve to a place (some place!) by that name on Google Maps. I've got myself in a pickle with procedure by not opening a discussion about

I have informed MKY, as the article creator, and Anna because she had commented at Silver about it. I am informing you as probable mentor. Right now, the discussion is at User_talk:Sadads. I'm wondering about asking whether it would be ok to paste it verbatim to the article TP. - Sitush (talk) 18:01, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

Former Edit copyright issue

I apologise I had to fix some of the inaccurate information if you don't put the other back thats fine. I can add another article which is now accurate, oh there's no copyright issue. Wolftxt, added former message defined to the issue of copyright. If you cannot accept the information I no longer want a account with wikipedia why nothing i can link and publish elsewhere to.(Wolftxt (talk) 16:43, 17 May 2011 (UTC))

I am currently trying to put information about the people associated with Liberty Hall Restroration so that the information will be easier to access. For some reason the last article i typed up about Thomas S Kenan was deleted. It claimed I had infrienged on copyright laws I do not understand how that is. I understand how theese laws work but I did reference the matieral to the best of my ability in fact i had several references please explain what i did and I will fix it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Christaparker089 (talkcontribs) 18:56, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

Benjamin Lewin is a very famous person in genetics and molecular biology. Look at this coverage of him in The Scientist.

Range block

Hi PMDrive, hope you're doing well. Could you explain why you blocked this range please? It's a long time to block a very large number of IP addresses with talk disabled, and also take a look at the older entries in that log. Cheers, - Kingpin13 (talk) 17:47, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

I suggest you reconsider that rangeblock. I have not come across any of his disruption for at least a month, and you are causing a wide amount of collateral damage with that rangeblock, as verified by the numerous unblock/account requests we get from this range in particular. At this point, the cons the outweighing the pros with regard to this rangeblock. –MuZemike 14:17, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
Will do. I'll just have to revert and clobber them on an individual basis. I wasn't aware of the collateral damage. Why do nuts like that always seem to have dynamic IPs? Oy vey...--

Hi PMDrive 1061,

Thanks for your timely response. A few things, I got permission from Jeremiah Moss in writing (which I can provide) to use his material in writing (which I know does not matter) and then attempted to cite it as per wiki policy. Because I am new, I did not do that correctly. I will endeavor to do that correctly in the future.

Lenny was not just a leader in the Leather community but in the gay community as well, and a longtimeAIDS activist. Among his many contributions, his pet project the AIDS Candlelight Vigil in Greenwich Village which he organized and ran every year for 25 years during Gay Pride weekend.

Perhaps BDSM offends people. But like being gay, we are born this way, it is our orientation. I know the wiki mission is to educate and inform and most people do not know this.

If it will help, I can tone it down as per your instructions (If there is some objectionable language), so long as it means I do not have to leave out any factual or historical references.

Your help in this matter would be greatly appreciated by so many people. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Taraindiana (talkcontribs) 04:03, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

The great fire of Byker, Newcastle.

I would like to know why you have deleted our group - The great fire of Byker, Newcastle. You have stated this is "(Minor local current event, not notable)"

Well Wikipedia have this local event: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_fire_of_Newcastle_and_Gateshead The event is no longer on-going however investigations continue into the cause of the fire. It was notable, the whole of the north east could see it for miles, also reports of a fire fighter dying.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts into this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by RobsonColin (talkcontribs) 17:48, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

Carla Rushing page deletion

I would like to know why the page of pornographic actress Carla Rushing best known as Cody Lane was deleted. The page was correctly sourced and in addition there are hundreds of articles of pornographic actors that are stubs and still remain in Wikipedia, what is the standard for the inclusion of pornographic actors. A new user, targeting Disney articles and with at least a little knowledge of Bambifan, is being somewhat constructive, but at the same time making some edits without consensus. Skullgirls deletion

Hello. You recently deleted the Skullgirls page from Wikipedia. This page was under construction; I had just added a stub template and was working on cleaning it up (and looking up sources) when the page was deleted. Could you please restore it? If, after clean-up the page still fails notability then I'd have no problem with it being sent up to AfD. (As a note, it's received coverage in multiple articles in both Gamespot and Kotaku, as well as being set for release on high-profile downloadable services XBLA and PSN, so it shouldn't fail notability.) We need help.

We've submitted our page and had it rejected. We've re-writtne our page to have you reject it once again. Now we see a note about disruptive editing? Excuse me?

Our page is NOT advertising. It is about the single most unique scuba retailer on the planet. It's also about the oldest manufacturer's authorized online scuba retailer on the planet and how we got here. It's also about how we're one of the first retailers of any kind online and a company far older than Wiki.

It's modeled after sites already approved on Wiki. So, what we need now is to NOT be directed to some page we've already looked at and taken heed of but need the help of somebody who doesn't seem to have an axe to grind with Scuba.com and can offer us assistance. If that is not you please forward our request to somebody who will help.

You see, I spoke with an individual off wiki long ago, who claimed they were you. I quickly realized the absurdity of trusting that and decided not to investigate, but now that I've seen you multiple times throughout the community, I have to confirm that you aren't who I think you might be once and for all. I hear you; when I haven't been watching for MascotGuy socks I've been trying to help out in longevity-related articles, and to remove the enormous amount of flag icons from lists without getting RSI I've had to get AWB access. IPs periodically come around to undo my work; I never thought I'd have to use uw-mos warnings, but it seems I was wrong. At least MascotGuy socks provide a certain amount of entertainment (I have to laugh at some of the usernames); I really hope someone can shut down
the little idiot child soon. I've seen a couple of his socks and I've been rather tempted to goad him into taunting me, if for no other reason than to take some heat off those who usually deal with him. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい

The Demon Barbers

Hi there, in September you deleted the page The Demon barbers. I have updated it and referenced everything accordingly now. Please can you tell me whether my new submission is now ok? It still says it is a new page under review and as I've been trying for a long time to get this band's page up and running I would really appreciate any feedback to get this resolved asap. It says it is on wikipedia right now but I am worried it will be removed if i haven't done it correctly. Kindest Regards allaroundmyhat --Allaroundmyhat (talk) 12:50, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi, PMDrive has just started a long break from wikipedia. I'll take a look at the article if it is in mainspace. Will reply here. - Sitush (talk) 13:07, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
Actually, Anna is doing it now ... and she made exactly some changes I tried to make (we hit an edit conflict). - Sitush (talk) 13:16, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
Sorry to step on your toes there. I'm all done. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:21, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
Other way round - you got there first. Hope it is now ok. Allaroundmyhat, you can certainly contact me if you need further advice etc, and I feel sure that Anna is open to the same. - Sitush (talk) 13:39, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Welcome back!

Sock investigation notice

You were previously involved in blocking one of the related socks; please see - Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Prince-au-Léogâne. Thank you for your time, -- Cirt (talk) 02:43, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

Deletion of Sherman3D

Hi PMDrive1061, I can't seem to find my previous message to you so I am posting here again. Hopefully, you will be back from your break soon enough. Please reconsider reverting Sherman3D after deleting the part that you mentioned was infringing copyright. I will rewrite just like I did with Aldorlea Games. Thanks!
