- Potato dude, you have again inserted a boatload of unsourced and poorly sourced attacks on Sen. Jesse Helms into his article, this time with the edit summary, "(ok, no longer a BLP)."
- I think you misunderstand Wikipedia's policies. It is not acceptable to insert dubious accusations into a biography just because the subject of the biography died a few hours earlier. If anything, that is even more offensive. In fact, it is indecent.
- According to Wikipedia's policies, all information must be reliable source for that accusation, nor for any of the others that you reinserted. Please cease inserting unsourced and poorly-sourced attacks on Sen. Helms into that article. NCdave (talk) 14:48, 8 July 2008 (UTC)]
- Excellent criticisms if any of your accusations are true. However, the fact of the matter is that various users HAVE found reliable sources for most of the citations. You just keep shooting them down with comments like "the notoriously leftist FAIR" and "anti-Christian blog sites." Is ANY source that is even remotely critical of Helms considered reliable enough for you? You know, just because YOU don't like a source doesn't necessarily mean that it is inaccurate or unreliable. I, myself, am not a huge fan of sites like Killian documents controversy. --Potato dude42 (talk) 16:15, 9 July 2008 (UTC)]

- Obviously some sources are reliable, and you can read at reliable sourceswhat is considered to be a reliable source on Wikipedia, and what is not. FAIR and anti-Christian blog sites are not reliable sources. Now, if FAIR or an anti-Christian blog site references a reliable source from somewhere else, you could use that as a source. But Helms-bashing newspaper editorials, of the sort that FAIR likes to cite as sources, are not reliable sources either.
- Obviously some sources are reliable, and you can read at
- If there were reliable evidence that Helms had said or done those despicable things, then his Senate opponents would surely have dug it up and used it against him. Jim Hunt and Harvey Gantt did not play softball politics. The fact that those multi-million dollar campaigns, with their sophisticated opposition research operations, could not find any such evidence, is compelling evidence that there is none to be found.
- Moreover, if you believe that Helms was racist, how can you explain the fact that Helms was the Senator who pushed through the first big emergency aid package to combat HIV/AIDS in Africa? Hundreds of thousands of children are alive and HIV-free today, thanks to Jesse Helms' leadership, and nearly all of them are black. Does that sound like the behavior of a white racist? David Brooks (journalist)
There is no need to add every single error, especially ones as minor as whether or not a restaurant has a salad bar, to a journalist's article here. Please cite some reliable sources to prove that "Applebeegate" is important in contexts other than pedantic commentators bookended by talking puppets. White 720 (talk) 17:46, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for adding sources to that section. White 720 (talk) 17:40, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

City nicknames
Hi, Potato dude42. Thanks for your additions to the Michigan and Florida "city nicknames" articles. I regret that I decided that I had to revert them. The use of area codes and airport codes as monikers for cities and metro areas certainly is an interesting phenomenon, but we need to draw the line on including these in the city nickname list-articles unless there is
However, those lyrics that mention area codes ought to be cited in the articles about the area codes. They do appear in the articles, but articles like
