Hi. I know you're trying to be helpful, and it can be irksome at times, but it's generally frowned upon to correct the spelling, or otherwise "improve" the edits of others on talk pages, as as you did on the Talk:Scottish independence page. People can very touchy about it, and it is possible to get it wrong and inadvertently change the meaning of what they said. Better to let it stand unless it's obvious vandalism or a bad-faith edit. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 11:35, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for creating this article. Please see how I added categories and talk page templates for WikiProject categorization, in the future if you could add those elements to your new articles it would be much appreciated. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 12:04, 7 February 2014 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for February 16
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Dorothy Dunnett, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Stamford (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It sounds like the IP address is running an open proxy and these are generally disabled by policy. At the moment, though, you haven't given us enough information to investigate. Clearances in Scotland
Tom Devine did an interesting talk on the subject if you are interested [1] and consider that what we call the Clearances (1700s-1800s) and what was the process of forced displacements on mass (1400s- early 1900s) become jumbled up in the mythologies and memories so that all become called 'The Clearances' whether from Highlands or islands. Indeed, my Sept and Clan trace it's displacement to a "Letter of Fire and Sword" early 1600s, as part of the last consolidation of Royal power over what was left of the Lord of the Isles. These larger power struggles of dynastic power struggles (Jacobites), power struggles between lords and Royal authority, between lords and lords; then add onto it the displacement of the many Scottish lords with English ones and it is easy to see how economic factors could begin to outweigh the old bounds of the Clan structures. A very complicated mess without one cause or neat timelines for what I can tell. C. W. Gilmore (talk) 14:44, 15 April 2018 (UTC)
