Reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not

autoconfirmed
to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious

Thanks for the note. I do remember doing the edit, but I can't remember why I didnt complete at the time. Maybe I got distracted or maybe I found some non standard cases on page B and couldnt figure it out. I can run a script to do an auto conversion, but it's probably worth getting the template right first (ie extending out for all the possible optional information). I'm not a great template expert but I think there's some kind of { { if } } tag to help do this. I'll start a discussion on the template tag talk page to try and get consensus on what should be in the templates.ChrisUK (talk) 20:20, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Artur Balder References

  • References: I dont know if it should be done here, but I will add some references below.

There are references to Artur Balder as writer in the most important Spanish media. I list some of them:

El País, published for instance in nacional sites, culture, books 2006: http://www.elpais.com/articulo/cultura/Artur/Balder/triunfa/narrativa/infantil/debuta/historica/elpepicul/20060610elpepicul_5/Tes?print=1

On the other hand it is strange that someone can state that may be the Artur Balder of Little Spain is not the same as the Artur BAlder of the books, since at the official site of the documentary you can download the press kit in high resolution, and in the chapter that it dedicates to the director, Artur Balder is the author of El Evangelio de la Espada, Crónicas de Widukind, and this is too in the GERMAN wikipedia stated. Both links:

http://little-spain.us/Little_Spain_Prensa_2010.pdf

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artur_Balder

The Little Spain official site links to an official Flickr site where is clear to see the references of Artur Balder. I invite you to visit the www.little-spain.us

Artur Balder is author of, as far as I know, 7 novels, some them translated into 8 languages, including nederlands, italian, french, with major publishing houses. The publishing house in spanish for his fantasy fiction is Random House Mondadori. You can read at the corporate website of RHM the recommendation of the author:

http://www.randomhousemondadori.com/Sellos/SellosFicha.aspx?Idioma=En&id=15

The historical fiction is being published by Edhasa, a major prestigious publishing house in Spain:

http://www.casadellibro.com/libro-el-evangelio-de-la-espada-cronicas-de-widukind-/1811185/2900001410005

The official site for its last historical fiction, published in november 2010, had a shortfilm for promotion of the saga, and all the information is available in english, german and spanish, with an excerpt of the book in russian, too:

htt://www.widukind.eu

References caused by announcement the documentary of "Little Spain":

http://www.google.be/search?q=%22little+spain%22+documental&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:es-ES:official&client=firefox-a

Looking at the search result you can see ALL the spanish media in the list in the first 100 results, from La Vanguardia, El País, El Mundo, La Razón... Just all. There is consensus about the relevance of the work of Artur Balder in relationship with the restoring of the historical memory of a large number of immigrants in New York City and Little Spain.

The information, that was not intended primarly to the american media, was however trnaslated from agency EFE AMERICA reports into the pages of the Chicago Tribune and Latin American Herald Tribune, and translated into english:

http://www.google.be/search?q=%22little+spain%22+documentary&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:es-ES:official&client=firefox-a

Particularly the link to The Latin American Herald Tribune:

http://laht.com/article.asp?CategoryId=13003&ArticleId=378105

And this is the resulat of a first private screening at La Nacional, the Spanish Benevolent Society of NY, last november, for the Spanish media and media agencies. Wikipedists have to know that the documentary is going to be released in a major film festival of New york city in 2011, but I cannot write down the name since it will be 100% sure.

The IMDb has accepted the credits of Balder's work in film industry during the last 10 years:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3470412/

Articles about Artur Balder are present in about 10 languages of Wikipedia, included the german one.

I hope I can rebuild a logical article about the subject, and later continue adding other contributions since there are a lot of historical interesting discoverings at 14th street of Manhattan in relationship with its Spanish American past.

Tomorrow

York meetup

Hmm. Bare minimum wasn't satisfactory, I'm afraid. I arrived at the Punchbowl a minute or two after 7pm. The pub was quite busy. I bought a pint and wandered around, trying to work out who might be Wikipedians and who not. I approached a few likely-looking groups ("Excuse me, I'm supposed to be meeting a few people here, but I don't know what they look like - are you expecting anyone to join you?") but the answer was always no. Nobody accosted me. I assumed that you'd all be sitting at a table, but none of the tables looked very likely. I even looked out for purple tops, but I'm slightly colour-blind and can't easily distinguish purple from blue. Anyway, by 7.20 I'd finished my pint and was feeling fed up so I went home. My journey wasn't entirely wasted, as I needed to pick up some rail tickets at the station (and I try not to drink too much beer for waistline reasons), but wandering around in pubs feeling embarrassed and accosting people isn't really my thing - and they might even have thought that I was up to no good.
The above is partly my fault, as I should have contacted you and other attendees a lot earlier than this afternoon, but still ....
More constructively, and FWIW, my thoughts on the matter are:
  • Choose a pub with a meeting-room, or a smaller pub
  • If that isn't possible/convenient, exchange photos (mine can be found at Wikipedia:Online_Ambassadors/Mentors) and say in advance what you're wearing
  • Perhaps print off individual name-badges in some common format and wear them
  • Or wear some unusual article of clothing, or carry an unusual object, again notified in advance

Thanks for the note - water under the bridge now. I suppose I could have taken a book and hung around longer, but I was expecting that there'd be people there at or not long after 7pm. I made another change to try to clarify my intent. I would appreciate if you would remove the extra discussion if you're now OK with my notice. • Dates - ... January 1 2000 ... Red XN ... January 1, 2000, ... Green tickY
  • "A passenger train (was or became) derailed by a ravine ..." -> "A passenger train was derailed close to a ravine..."
  • Refs should be after punctuation, not before them - Hello hello<ref>Blah blah<ref/>. Red XN Hello hello.<ref>Blah blah<ref/> Green tickY

Murazze di Vado train disaster The rest of my changes were not that notable, general grammar and prose. To see what changes I made you can check the diff [2].

M5 coordinatesHi User:Tagishsimon,

I have undone most of the coordinates that you entered into the M5 article. I appreciate the work that you put into it, but may I refer you to the discussion at WP:RJL regarding coordinates. Basically the roads group have not come to a consensus regarding the way in which coordinatesd could be incoprorated into into road junction lists. However two points did come out of the discussions:

  1. There should not be a separate column for cooridinates. There was no consensus as to how they should be displayed, but the style in the M5 article (as restored by me) recevied favourable mention.
  2. The number of coordinates in a list should be limited. A maximum of 10 was suggested.

I have taken what I consider to be the most important coordinats that you catalogued and worked them into the text.

Reverts on UK roads

M23

I have undone your reversion. Please discuss on the WP:RJL page - we cannot accomodate both coordinates and miles without making a dogs dinner of the RJL. The other editor concerned is probably as adamant about miles as you are about coordinates.

Talkback

Edit warring at M23 motorwayHello. I am unprotecting M23 motorway per a request on my talk page so that an editor can continue to make constructive edits to this page. I am writing this to you specifically as you were involved in a recent edit war on that page (which is not related to the request on my talk page), and I'm notifying you that any edit warring whatsoever in the next 2 weeks will be met with a block. Please don't take this as a license to edit war in the future.

Please do not interpret this as me taking anyone's specific side, or as accusing any specific editor either. Magog the Ogre (talk) 18:14, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Removing Brown's Law in List of Eponymous Laws

Umm, no. In what way would Brown's Law degrade over time? Nice try. No cigar. --Tagishsimon (talk) 10:39, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Predispute version

I've taken both back to the point at which The Anomebot2 tagged them. Your edit warring started immediately after that. As you note on one of the talk pages, this business should be left until there is a decision one way or another on whether US caves have an opt-out from the wikipedia convention of tagging things. You should not jump the gun. --Tagishsimon (talk) 13:18, 11 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, if I'm not mistaken The Anomebot tagged them in April. It's December. The last edit prior to the edit war was by Leitmotiv in April. That should be your revert so it doesn't favor anyone in the edit war. By the way, I have been waiting for the decision on the cave infoboxes re: coordinates. If you had read the original discussion, you would know that the original state of the cave infobox is no coordinates! So really, it is Pigsonthewing who is jumping the gun, and not vice versa as you put it. Please, review your edits under this new information please. Thank you. Leitmotiv (talk) 18:41, 11 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The meta-discussion is whether or not caves should have coordinates. Whether they're in the infobox or not is a detail. You're pushing your POV, which is fine on talk pages but not in article space. --Tagishsimon (talk) 13:13, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No you're wrong. Currently, the cave infobox has no coordinate field. The UK cave infobox was made to add a coordinate field. Hence the discussion at that page. Please review your analysis. Leitmotiv (talk) 16:35, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As I said, the meta-discussion is whether or not caves should have coords or not. Coords in the infobox is an implementation detail; many caves have coords but no infobox, for example. I'm content that marking geo-locatable articles with {{coord missing}} is a de facto standard for wikipedia, one for which US caves does not, to my knowledge, have consensus to duck. I understand that you would prefer I reverted to your preferred version, but you'll forgive me if I dissent on this occasion. Better that you settle the meta-discussion than keep nagging away at this thread. --Tagishsimon (talk) 01:04, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Nobody's nagging, just disagreeing sir. Sorry you feel that way. Infoboxes are designed for coordinates as you well know. I'm also sorry you chose to "dissent" from your duty to revert to a version prior to the edit war and instead do it squarely in the middle of it. You have failed your duty and have shown biased preference. Good day. Leitmotiv (talk) 02:28, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry that you're not able to agree at which edit the war began: IMO that was your first reversion. --Tagishsimon (talk) 02:34, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
