Here are some extra tips to help you get around Wikipedia:
  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills, try the Sandbox.
  • Click on the Edit button on a page, and look at how other editors did what they did.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes, like this: ~~~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp too. Always sign comments on Talk pages, never sign Articles.
  • You might want to add yourself to the New User Log
  • If your first language isn't English, try Wikipedia:Contributing to articles outside your native language
  • Full details on Wikipedia style can be found in the Manual of Style.
There's also a regular
group introduction to Wikipedia for new users
on IRC.

Happy editing!

Editing

Note that on articles such as

Live at La Zona Rosa it's important not to make large-scale edits until you've checked our Manual of Style, and any relevant project pages. For example, timings on track listings should be in the form "–mm:ss", and prepositions, articles, conjunctions, etc., shouldn't be capitalised in titles. (Also, "respectfully" and "respectively" mean very different things.) --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 22:01, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply

Please don't add material cut and pasted from other Web sites. See Wikipedia:Copyrights. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 17:07, 29 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Disambiguation link notification for August 18

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited The Afterman (Live Edition), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page The Afterman (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 11:13, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Devil in Jersey City

The article Devil in Jersey City has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No references, no claim of notability, fails
WP:NSONGS
.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be

deleted for any of several reasons
.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A tag has been placed on

section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion
, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. rchard2scout (talk) 12:03, 28 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
